Not knowing what happens in this and so what happens to the orb, but Thanos is gonna have to actually start acquiring the gems at some point. Hopefully he becomes prominent and is major villain in one of the phase 3 films.

How can you answer that definitively?

I did not intent to answer, my intention was to agree with your opinion that I think Thanos should be shown as the ultimate badass villan (not nessesarily in GotG, but at least sooner or later) by doing serious damage to his opponents.
All in all, I think I will enjoy Thanos scene(s) no matter what. It will probably be my favorit scene(s).

It's not what you say, it is how you say it. Even here you're being a bit passive aggressive. It's just unnecessary. I think you're an alright dude though. I'm just saying.

Anyway perhaps they are being a bit too cute with Thanos. Maybe they should have had him cut loose a bit more in this film. Show a display of power, something we haven't seen from any superhero villain in any movie before.

Marvel keep teasing him and teasing him, and whilst us fans know that he is a massive threat, will average viewers just be like "what is the big deal?" and get bored.

Well I think it's okay with what they are doing. We got a turn around and smirk. In phase 1. Phase 2, gotg. We get a few lines. Maybe we get something in AoU. But the increase in his presence is steady. In gotg 2, and whatever else, he will probably have bigger roles.

I hear you, but I think that has more to do with reading words as opposed to being able to see someone's face or hearing vocal tone. My response was very literal.

Well from what we know, we do get to see Thanos show a display of power.

Please ****ing ellaborate!!! from my understanding we don't get any display of power???

Sorry, that response was for Broseph. :)

Aha, oki. Cool man. My misstake for not realizing that xD

Or give them truly horrific, nightmarish visions that makes them literally lose their mind.

It would be cool if Thanos did it on Loki, as it would fit the "promise" the Other gave to him about longing for something as sweet as pain.

I'm of the opposite thinking and hope they delay him showcasing a display of power as much as possible. Part of what distinguishes Thanos from Darkseid and the others is that he would rarely resort to brutish tactics to get what he wants. He often uses his cunning and intelligence to get the drop on his enemies and business partners.

And this is only what, his second cameo? It's not like they've been teasing him that long. Going back to the guy he's often compared to, Palpatine didn't even display his powers until the end of two of his appearances.

lol I've had two dreams the last 4 days about him.

One dream the titan had like a 10 minute scene of dialogue. And we got to see some power

lol even if he's on screen for a total of 30 seconds, it will be immortalized in my mind until I see him again! Seeing my favourite villain of all time, comic-book or not, translated perfectly on the silver screen, will complete the summer for me.

:hubba

haha I've had quite the summer so I can't say the same...but It definitely adds to it

Thanos' design is going to take some getting used to, but hoo boy, was his characterization spot on. I like how he just allows Ronan to have his small moral victory with [blackout]the Other's death[/blackout], to hammer in the point that that's the maximum level of impertinence he is afforded, because Thanos will just smack him down beyond that. And for the extra kick in the teeth, Thanos just leans back and gives him that iconic smile while Ronan walks away with his tail between his legs :hrt:

Yea Thanos is bad ass in this. He doesn't lose his temper of have a moment of scenery chewing, but the way he puts Ronan in his place is spot on. He has bigger goals in mind. You really get the sense that destroying entire planets is way beneath him.

Yes, only destroying the entire universe and everything/everyone in order to get into Lady Death's pants is worthy of his time. :cwink:

Thanos was perfect - I can't wait to see more of him!

And his base is called "Sanctuary". Nice nod to his ship in the comics.

My mind was trying to process so much that I can't remember what all his dialogue was. I think I'll have to go see it a second time soon.

How much screentime did Thanos get? Like a cameo?

Yeah, it was pretty much a cameo. He had about 2 minutes screen time in person and he had another little 1 minute scene later on with him on a hologram talking to Ronan like the Emperor from Star Wars.

You could see though in his small screen time that they are still figuring out the character in terms of the voice and the CGI as Thanos doesn't look QUITE refined yet.

We all know what the AFTER credit scene is, but is the MID credits scene something we haven't seen yet or is it the plant pot groot dancing?

I loved how Thanos was portrayed to be pretty much torturous to work for, the kind of guy who would find better company with servile robots than actual beings. The only who in his service who wasn't looking to turn on him was the sniveling weasel, who he allows to die without batting an eye.

Thanos was good. Can't wait to see him actually do something.I really liked his voice. I thought he looked a little silly though. That's probably just me.

Well, the character isn't hard to translate looks wise but they won't make him all bulky, as the comics exaggerate the muscles. Drax was nowhere as big as he looks in the books.

They've definitely made some changes to his look from the end of Avengers, and I honestly haven't decided whether I like them better or not. Still, I thought he looked damned impressive. There was a part of me that wanted to see him kill somebody or lose his temper a little bit to demonstrate his power in some way, but I also realize that they really don't want to show their cards too early (I mean, we haven't even gotten Avengers 2 yet, never mind GotG 2 or TA3). All that taken into consideration, I felt like his calm, cool confidence and the way a guy like Ronan showed fear of him was enough (just barely enough, though) for now.

I liked the voice work from Brolin, too. I just want MORE! :D
