Tobey was never really Spidey?

I read a few days ago on here that every scene in the Raimi films where Spidey is masked its not Tobey. Tobey is only in the unmasked scenes and as Parker.

Is there any truth in this as i find it hard to believe they'd hire a actor only to use a stunt double every time his face is covered?

No, that is not the truth. I think that was somebody exagerating because they hated Tobey as Spidey. Tobey did most of his stunts!

Absolutely not.
Of course, there were times a stunt double would come in, but mostly it WAS Tobey. That'd be silly if he could only play one part.

He did. Not as often as a lot of fans would like, but he definitely did. I rewatched all 3 films, so its fresh in my memory lol.

Tobey Maguire isn't in the suit very much simply because there is no reason for him to be.

Most of the time you see Spidey, he is in action. His face is covered and he rarely talks, so there is little reason for it to be Maguire and not a top stunt man. And the rest of the time you see Spidey, it's CGI.

Clearly it is Maguire in the suit sometimes, bu tonly for the scenes which required him to emote. There is little logic in getting him to do full stunts in the Spidey costume when the audence would not be able to tell either way.

Yep. You can clearly see that it's Maguire in the first movie talking to the police ("Not comin' back chief!").

1.) Spidey never fought with his Mask off, he protected his ID better than that.

2.) Spidey always used wisecracks to get at his villians and get under their skin and it worked most of the time however this is never explored in three films.............go figure. (Is is because Tobey could not act it out, or Raimi did not read the books and do his homework ???)

3.) Peter Parker while a loser in High School was never a total Nerd, Tobeys character was so bad he would not even fit in Lamda Lamda Lamda for crying out loud. Parker was just a shy kid with a brilliant mind and a nack for having bad things happen to him inculding being bit by a radioactive spider.

4.) Tobey is not a character actor, it is shame he was paid so highly for this role, he did not deserve it .

4.) Tobey is not a character actor, it is shame he was paid so highly for this role, he did not deserve it .

I bet he's missing that $50 million payday he would've gotten for two more movies. I never liked him much, IMHO Tobey is rather effeminate and not like the shy character we can identify with in the comics. The complete lack of wisecracks was also not appreciated, I'd hope to see them in the upcoming reboot but knowing how it's being described I'm not expecting 'em.
