The Flash Tom Cavanaugh IS Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash - Part 1

Tom's acting has seriously been sick lately. This dude is wicked.

Ranger Smith suddenly seems to look sinister.

Yup. In the phone reveal he was pretty damn sinister. I liked how he had to admit how he actually enjoyed working with the team - but that doesn't change anything, the big showdown is still coming.

Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

He's not Ranger Smith, he's a future bear disguised as Ranger Smith.

I meant Ranger Smith in those Yogi Bear pictures now looks sinister, as if he's planning something against the residents of Jellystone Park. It's hard to look at Tom Cavanagh in the same way anymore.

I bet if anyone rewatched that series "Ed", we'd all be wondering now when he's about to unveil his dastardly plot and what secrets lie behind his amiable visage.

"Believe me Yogi Bear...you will die."

Dude, nice ! That fills in a lot of gaps. That Thawne didn't know his identity explains the whole time trip back to kill Barry as a child.

Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Cavanagh is just killing it (pun intended) as the RF - they've built up his character both good and bad, brilliantly over the season, probably one of the more complicated bad guys in live action superhero movies/shows - an essentially bad guy who's had to appear good, which obviously rubbed off on him a little - but only a little, and he's also clearly been more than a bit tortured by the irony of having to actually help create his own nemesis.

Hopefully, after all that, they come up with a satisfying resolution. Fingers crossed !

Has he ever been called Professor Zoom in the first season or the Flash TV series comics?

Awesome! :) Their face-off is gonna be sick! I just love when Eobard and Barry are in a scene together. Tom and Grant are a great pairing. I love that RF is just stating it as a matter of fact and there's no reason behind anything, they just are enemies. Love it! :D

i can remember telling a friend he'd never top his ranger smith performance, then he goes and blows my mind with reverse flash. never been happier to be wrong, wow

Wow, Tom Cavanaugh excellent performance in this entire first season of the series. What a way to exit

Not quite as the showrunners did an interview that he will return in the 2nd season as a series regular. Same thing with Barry's father, Henry.

Also can someone explain me hiw did Thawne know that Jay Garrick's helmet was the time to go? Any connection between them or something he knew?

As I posted in another Flash thread:

Because Eobard killed her in the past, that event will be unchanged because Barry didn't stop it.

Eddie killed himself, so I assume all the Thawnes of the future have been wiped from existence. By all time travel movie logic lol, only an event in the past can affect the future.

He was marooned in the year 2000, making it plausible for his (Thawne's) actions to still have effect. As his ancestor was killed in the present day, only the future is altered - if any of that makes sense.

There are multiple timelines at play in the show.
1) The season 1 timeline (Nora Allen's death to present day)
2) The future (where Thawne/Reverse Flash exists and Red-Suit & White Logo Flash exists)
3) The alternate future (Where Barry saved his Mom).
4) The future without the Thawne bloodline (after Eddie's death)

You might think how I know there's an alternate future where Barry saved his Mom. Well, if you think about it, why did Future Flash signal to Barry to NOT save his Mom? Why else would he do it? Obviously when he saved her, he disrupted the timeline and events played out differently. So in a way, they've acknowledged "The Flashpoint Paradox" without going in to great detail.

There could also be a way for Thawne/RF to be resurrected in the show. Say in future seasons there is an event that they can't deal with and they need the help of Dr.Wells/Thawne. The night he killed Nora Allen is still in continuity, since he was stuck in the past. As the finale said, he had 1 minute & 52 seconds before the wormhole closed. It closed, trapping RF in that timeline. So that event will most definitely always be in play. What's to stop The Flash from returning to that night or pre-Eddie death timeline and taking Wells/RF with him?

That's my suggestion for bringing back Tom Cavanagh anyway LOL!

Eddie's death erased Eobard from existence. Therefore there is no Reverse Flash that goes back in time to kill Barry's mother.
