Tom Cavanaugh IS Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash - Part 1

Making Earth-2 Wells the identity of Zoom would be too easy and obvious. I'm still very interested in seeing more about him though. He looked like a very smug jerk and it's great to just see Cavanaugh around again.

 

I'm guessing that this show's Zoom is probably an amalgamation of The Rival (dark doppelgänger, wants to be the fastest speedster) and the Hunter Zolomon Zoom (can easily travel between dimensions).

 

Yeah, I don't doubt they will try to make us think Earth 2 Wells is Zoom but it will be a red herring.

 

Even though his character is technically dead (in our world, the Earth-1 world), Tom Cavanaugh has already shown up in BOTH of the first two episodes of this season. It's great that Cavanaugh is still involved, because he's a great actor. I'm glad the writers keep thinking up new ways to use him.

Now we'll see how Harrison Wells fits into this new multiverse-heavy arc they're using for the second season. For a dead man, Wells is certainly getting around.

I think it would be too obvious if Wells is Zoom. I just don't think they will go with that option again.

 

I'm trying to make sense of this and see it its possible.. But do you guys think the two Wells could have been going back and fourth between worlds? So in S1 at some points it was Earth-2 Wells.. Idk why i thought of that. Seems highly unlikely, but I think Wells from Earth-2 will be more involved.

 

I remember when "easy and obvious" was one of the reasons a lot of fans didn't believe that Wells was the Reverse Flash in Season 1. I think there's a chance that the Earth 2 Wells is again a Zoom in disguise.

Based on the costume, I'm also guessing that Zoom did not originate from Earth 2 but from a universe where Barry Allen was the Flash. In this case he might either be a future iteration of Barry Allen or Wally West that has gone down a darker path. There's also precedent in the comics for this (Walter West Dark Flash and blue future Barry).

 

Doing Wells to be a "big bad" again would be boring. I would rather see "new" Wells coming back being the good guy while evereybody believes the other way round...

 

zoom is going to be barry from E-2, jay said he showed up about 2 years ago which basically fits the timeline barry has been the flash, if im not mistaken?

 

It would be awesome if he was Earth 2's Eddie Thawne

 

Anyone else notice how apparently Earth-2 Wells started S.T.A.R. Labs about a decade earlier than on Earth-1? On Earth-1, Wells and Morgan came up with the idea for S.T.A.R. Labs around 2000, while on Earth-2, it had already been around since 1991.

 

But why would Barry's timeline on e-1 impact e-2?

Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting thought for Barry to be the e-2 Zoom but I just dont think the events necessarily need to tie into one another, especially considering Reverse Flash basically altered the e-1 timeline by jump-starting Barry becoming the Flash by a few years to begin with.

 

Crazy theory in regard to Wells:

An Earth 2 Wells would be sort of boring. Especially if he is only just Wells. Is it possible that Thawne, anticipating the actions of Eddie (arguably even driving him to it), simply switched Eddie of another Earth with Earth 1 Eddie? He did kidnap Eddie shortly before his defeat (and his motivation in doing so was never really elaborated on). It would explain why the timeline is still intact. Maybe it was Earth 2 Eddie who killed himself and Thawne "disappearing" was actually Thawne teleporting to Earth 2, to assume the identity of their Wells, in furtherance of his plot. In essence, it was a gambit to take him off of the Flash's radar and allow him to accomplish his true goal (which wasn't to get back home, but rather get to Earth 2, undetected by the Flash, for some reason).

This theory could raise two possibilities, IMO:

1) Wells is Zoom (which I don't buy)

2) Zoom is Earth 2 Barry. Perhaps that was Thawne's ultimate end game all along...to somehow corrupt Barry. First he tried to do so by taking his parents. When that failed and Barry remained relatively well-adjusted, he became Barry's mentor. When he finally learned it was a lost cause on Earth 1 and that Barry could not be corrupted, he modified his plan and went to Earth 2 where he "created" Zoom.

Just a thought, anyway.

 

The only issue would be to explain how Wells accessed a parallel universe, and did he even know of such things. It would be kinda crazy if he had the help of Earth 2 Cisco.

 

Why can't Earth 2 Wells just simply be kinda evil/mean? ... like Steve Jobs.

I love the dichotomy between the generally kind, helpful but totally evil Thawne-Wells last season and dismissive a**hole good guy Earth 2 Wells this season.

I thought there was no way they could top Earth 1 Wells but Cavanaugh's acting and the writing for Earth 2 Wells looks to be on their way to surpassing it.

 

Looks like this season's Wells is going to be like the equivalent of Spike on Buffy.

 

I just hope he doesn't fall in love and try to rape Barry.

 

I don't like the idea of Earth-2 Harrison Wells being Zoom because that would be an echo of the first season.

I like to see Earth-2 Harrison Wells stay on Earth-1 to run Star Labs after this ordeal with Zoom is over.

 

I said in the other thread that perhaps Zoom is Eobard Thawne - the Earth 2 counterpart of him who never took over Harrison Wells's body. So he could now actually be a sworn enemy of Wells as well as Barry, and then Zoom could be played by Matt Letscher.

 

Or, really, any character on any TV series that's there to help but also clashes with the other characters.
