Has ever anyone around here that tried to make a video manipulating Tom's image in a Superman suit? Or does anyone knows someone who did it?
I've seen a LOT of TW/SV manips, fan trailers and vids, but I don't recall ever seeing a video along the lines you suggest above. It *could* be done of course, but gosh, it would require a lot of work, and some pretty high tech CGI software to boot.

But for what it's worth, I bet we'll get to see the real deal IN the show. Might just be a quick glimpse, but I honestly don't think they'll deprive the fans of something EVERYBODY has been waiting to see for going on five years now. G&M know it. The WB knows it (understatement LOL). And perhaps most importantly, TW knows it. ;)

I just watched some TW interviews, I watched so many I cant remember which one it was. The interviewer asked him this version of Clark Kent doesnt wear the suit, and Tom replied, no he doesn't, at least not yet.

So I think you could be on to something.:)

That latest artwork is so good that I actually thought it was a photograph until I enlargened it. Its a great job.l

I wish that i could be as optimistic as you are: Tom Welling in a Superman suit? Doubt it, specially because of Superman returns. I doubt that The Wb will actually permit a "sort of second suit".

Don't get me wrong, i think that Tow Welling is this generation's Superman and i was disappoint of him not being in the movie but still i don't think that the movie divison will aloow it. Yes, flying again but the suit? i don't think so.

Besides, there's been such a war about Tom Welling and Brandon Routh than if we actually see Tom Welling in a Superman suit, WW 3 will start in these foruns. :D

I actually look forward to WW3 here, casting war time last year was pretty fun. :)

Maybe a shirt rip?

You thought that was fun?

*triplet chuckles*

I guess it takes all kinds, but I'll be in the trenches next to you, dzb. No matter what.

Bring it on!

As for the suit: Clark needs to don the suit, it's the logical conclusion to his series long character arc.

It would be cheating Clark of his destiny if he didn't, and it would rob the fans of the payoff that we've all been expecting (or should be, for those that aren't).

He needs to wear the suit, even if it's only for a one scene as he flies off into the sunset (literal or not).

I totally agree with you Triplet but sometimes logic fails when it comes to Smallville :(

My guess is since we have a Superman movie, the movie division from the Wb will say that it can be only one Superman and won't allow a "second Superman" showing up.

that's my fear and skepticism. :(

i hope he dons the suit and flies on the last episode of the series.

Uhm, the two franchises are seperate.

Everyone has said that: Millar & Gough, Singer, I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them at the moment... I should be in bed.

But there is no reason, going by these statements, to fear that the film division will say a thing to SV about their supes NOT wearing the suit.

I would wager that the suit design would be vastly different, so why would features care at this point really?

'Sides, it's BJ that's the "second superman" anyway...

Tom's been Superman since the Pilot. (The suit is just costuming, Clark IS superman.) I don't think you have much to fear in features keeping Tom from pulling on the tights.

In fairness he was cast as Superman.

mmm--I don't think he's superman until he assumes the identity, flies, and wears the costume. I won't consider him crossing the line to Superman until he has those elements.

Clark was born Superman.

His Superness is due to his physiology and his innate goodness, not him wearing primary colored spandex. If that was the case, then anyone in the DCU could pull on blue tights and become super.

One of the MAIN reasons Smallville has the potential to be REALLY good this final season is because Singer is VERY cool with G&M. Not only that, but he actually respects Smallville's audience (which he has stated numerous times). Something that can't be said for any other directed ever attatched, or merely mentioned in any relation to SR.

I, for one would just like shirt-rip...no more is needed as far as I'm concerned. The show has pretty shown the transformation from Superboy(clumsy invisible freshman) to Superman (everything in between, The shirt rip, fade to black)

I wouldn't call BJ the '2nd Superman' at all...You could say the same for Tom IF he had been casted (Since the final director, Singer, didn't have him as his first choice at all) Whatever the messy story is, one thing is for certain, Singer made the final decision, not some clause in a contract. Otherwise, we'd be an ANOTHER director right now....(and I think you can thank BB and Nolan a little for that final hint of confidence from them)Onto a tangent here, when was the last time you heard a director or writer (when asked point blank) 'What's the budget?' respond with, 'I don't know it keeps going up'...THAT alone tells me that Singer's hands weren't tied. He had final say ALL along, which is why BJ is donning the cape. And the WB is trusting him fully, and probably has ALL along.

Here is a Manip I found so enjoy

I have to agree with just about everything except "

Im pretty sure Singer doesn't want Tom wearing a suit, and having it look better then the one in the movie, and having Tom look better as Superman over Routh.
By the way Routh is the 2nd current Superman yes... Tom was here first.
Case closed on that one.. :)

That's a pretty good point. One way for them to stop that to happen or delay it anyway is for them to renew SV's contract for a sixth season so the suit appearence is delayed and Routh gets to go first. It would be clever really (it's a case of if you can't beat them, join them) because by now this is just a case of stubborness. They know Welling is the favourite choice but since they made the mistake they are sticking with till the end.
But I wouldn't rule out they buying out Routh's contract in the future and put Tom in the role or to do a separate franchise. Or in the worst case, Tom replacing Routh after his 3 movies.
Anything's possible.

How many of you are so disappionted that Tom is not going to be in the upcoming film adaptation, that you refuse to support the new film?

I'll support the next series of superman films after this new one bits the dust and smallville,Tom Welling and Routh are has beens.

Hopefully that'll be 10 years from now 2015

Hey the Manips you guys are making are pretty good.
I'm saving them as a keep sake, to remember the Superman that wasn't!

I'll Love to see the guy who does Superman voice over play him in the movies or tv

I don't agree with that at all...I used to about a year ago, when he WAS the overwhelming choice. A poll today, would look much different from a poll this time last year IMO.
