Thanks, Hulk and RakuMon. This is good news indeed. :yay:

Well said (the whole post)!

Now if Tom isn't going to be in JL, would that stop any of you loyal fans from going to see the movie?

Not I...

IF Ryan Reynolds is the Flash, than I could care less what the other cast members are, WB got my $10...:woot:

I completly agree also.

Look at the one-two punch of Wellings performance in both "Reckoning" and "Vengence". The multi-layers of emotions in both episodes was Emmy worthy IMO. Especially the scene when he finally breaks down in his mothers arms after putting on his father's watch.

After 7 years, I cant see ANYONE else as Superman. Welling is IT.

I need to watch "Reckoning" again. :)

Y...E...S!

If WB does not cast TW (or to be devil's advocate here, BR) they will lose a majority of the audience. Casting a 3rd Superman would be ill-advised from a business standpoint. And I would hope WB knows this.

Not casting Bale as Batman wouldnt be that big of a problem, since the character would most likely keep the mask on for the entire film.

....Actually if this movie gets made, it will make $$$$$$$ whoever plays Superman.

Technically when this movie comes out, Routh won't be Superman anymore, and Smallville will be over, so there would be only be 1 Superman in the media....

QFT!

Surely TPTB can't be so stupid as to not notice that poll after poll has clearly shown that the overwhelming majority of people want to see Tom in the suit! Don't they pay people to gauge public opinion for them??? You don't get many second chances in life. They better not screw this one.

Thanks I have no clue what I would want but I'm not hard to please I will do my best to find one. Thanks again you's is so nice to lil ole me. That good ole smallville hospitality that keeps me coming back everyday

Just let me know in PM what you want...

I will still probably see it if Ryan Reynolds is the flash, he'd totally rock in that part, but it'll be more likely I'd give it a complete pass if neither Tom nor Ryan get cast...

The only guarantee that WB will get my $10xhow-often-my-wallet-can withstand-shelling-for-tickets is if Tom gets Superman.

True. JLA will probably be the biggest film of 2009. But, whoever is cast as Superman IS important.

there would be only be 1 Superman in the media....

But only 1 Superman in my HEART. And I hope that Superman is one I watch every Thursday night.

Thought this exchange from Countingdown.com was interesting:

As for who did get the parts, I was left hanging and only told that I personally would not like who Batman or Green Lantern is.

Oh BTW, since you were told that you wouldn`t like the casting of Bats and Lantern, doesn that mean that Welling probably accepted the part of superman since your source didn`t include superman along with batman and lanterns there?

Just like everyone else I can only speculate, but if the casting is in fact completed and given the change in attitude from Welling's agent plus as you said my source didn't mention I'd hate who was cast as Superman, it is possible this signals great news. I can't say it's a fact and I won't say that. However, as I said, the combination of things makes it look really promising.

the girl from CD.com said she called Welling's agent today about the casting.
His response was "No Comment"

:)

Pat, start cooking crow cake for everyone else and open that bottle of bubbly for us.
We are going to know VERY SOON.

P.S.

I just had a vision of waking up tomorrow and reading on the front page of this site...."Tom Welling Gets Super Role In Justice League" :)

The only thing that would make me pass is if Routh were cast. Sorry. I didn't like him as Superman. Folks can sue me.

Other than that, I'll give anybody else a shot, though I'm hoping... nay praying that it'll be Welling. I'll be there for the first showing if it is. If he's not, my excitement for the film will be directly related to who IS cast, but I'll still see the pic. It just won't be on opening weekend. I'll wait a couple of weeks like I usually do, 'cause I don't like fighting for a good seat. Welling is worth fighting for, however.

....And I can be vicious.

No it wouldn't stop me from seeing it, but if they don't get Welling I hope they get someone new because I'm just not a fan of Routh's nothing against him he seems like a nice guy and it has nothing to do with the Routh vs. Welling war, it's just how I feel.

If you actually read the post it said that the announcements were expected to happen on Friday but was pushed back a week

Has Robert at IESB said anything

Sorry about the lack of solid Justice League news, people are being very quiet but I did get an a call from an agent friend of mine from ________ just a few minutes ago and told me that as of yesterday Welling was still in negotiations.

So what has been going on? First let me try to explain a little about the New York Times article, they were wrong, almost.

Pretty simple, I have been told by various sources that this film is moving forward 100%. So is Justice League green lit? Officially no, why? The movie is officially in Prep and could stay in prep mode til about 6 weeks before cameras roll. The reasons studios do this is because once a movie is officially green lit then that is when the studios have to start paying off producers and so on and so on.

By keeping it in pre-production they can hold on to their cash a little longer. This happens all the time and is not new in Hollywood. Pre-production is full steam ahead with all departments working full time on the project.

In regards to Tom Welling, we have been reporting for awhile that WB execs want Welling but that it was always Gough/Millar who were causing problems, they want to be producers on the film. It's always about the dough, fair enough.

I am hearing that key roles have been filled but I haven't been able to get any confirmations of which ones.

I have read what Countingdown is reporting, sound plausible, I think Friday may be a little pre-mature, but who knows.

Oh, almost forgot, the script is complete and has been complete for a bit, who knows maybe a review will pop online sometime soon ;)

Yes friends, Justice League is coming summer of 2009.

Oh god to think all 6 / 7 of these guys are casted is scary & who the hell would be sane enough to go up against Christian ****ing Bale as Batman ?

Thanks for posting that Pat. After being out all day, I was hoping I wouldn't have to wade back through page after page of non-updates to see where things stand now.

Sounds like we're still at square one. Crossing fingers and killing poultry. :D

I was thinking today that even if this all falls through, it's actually been another fun ride. It's great to have some of the same oldbies that were here pulling for Tom during the last casting war still hanging in there, and it's even more heartwarming to see all the new people who are dying to see him cast as Supes.

*sniff* Don't mind me, I guess I'm feeling sentimental today. :O
