Tom Welling as Superman

I guess they do not Welling that bad if they are going to hold off the dealings. They should secure him ASAP because of Smallville.

I throw my hands in there air on this one, I really don't know what to think or believe anymore.

Like I said before Welling is still in the run for JLA. There where some discussion between JLA group and the Smallville group about how they where going to make it work but since they need the JLA movie to keep moving, they have put that discussion for later and have move along with other casting procedures and production schedule. As of now nothing with Tom is for sure but what they say is true they don't want 3 supermen.

With the Season 7 Premiere only two days a way, this is all a little too much for me. :O

:woot:

I think hiring a third superman would be problematic, but I'm not sure most people had a problem with Routh.

I was talking to someone at work yesterday who saw my Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman dolls.... err.... action figures ;) and she said she was looking forward to the JLA film.

She was under the impression it was being filmed now but when I told her Tom was being considered she asked why not "that guy" who was in the Superman movie last year?

*shrug*

She thought Routh was cute and he did a good job.

I guess your mileage may very well vary on that point, but I think it's clear hiring a third Superman would probably be problematic.

I know people who asked why Tom wasn't in SR when it came out, if they get a new guy people will be asking why Tom or Brandon aren't in JLA....

If they can't (or won't) use Routh, they will almost be forced to use Tom.

I hope he takes it, if it's true that the ball is now in his court.

*crosses fingers*

I think the general public did like Routh as Superman. I believe it were some of the fans that didnt like him. I've asked lots of people (not on the net) what they tought of SR and whether they liked it or not, everyone would tell me "The new guy was great".

Like I said in my previous post, we need an official press release from WB.

I had a different experience, either they thought he was "Ok" or they didn't care, I'm not saying people thought he was terrible, I just didn't get a sense of strong opinions about him one way or the other. I guess there's no way to really know. Regardless I don't think changing Superman at this point is going to be a big deal to anyone. and I honestly don't care anymore if Tom gets it, SV is just a couple of days away, and this is all giving me a headache:)

We need someone new for the role instead of getting someone who has already had the role or who currently has the role.

Let me clear up a few things I've been reading here:

1. Welling's "camp" would not include Millar and Gough. The term "camp" in hollywood refers to agents, publicists, financial advisers, etc. These would be all people who rep Tom, not people from Smallville.

2. Dan Lin is the Senior VP of Production for WB. While he was one of the voices at WB for a JLA film and is leading the project, technically he has dominion over everything they do there, so in a way he DOES have some say about what would go on with a potential sequel to Singer's film so in that regard Sanchez is correct.

Thank you, Hulk. I was thinking that Tom's camp might mean his agents and those who looked out for his best interests. Thanks for clearing that up.

You can't get anymore Superman than this:

You just can't.. lol.

Guess what they're using in JLA to make a certain character go in bad boy mode..

Red Kryptonite

Just my two cents. After Sanchez said that the Welling deal was dead. I read the Jayne post at Countingdown. So I emailed Sanchez and asked if he knew what Jayne was talking about? He emailed me back asking for a link to countingdown.

Re:Routh. I disliked SR. Not because of Routh. Just because I hated the idea of a sequel to a 30yr old movie. And especially the use of the kid. I still think the Airplane scene was awesome and would have been perfect for the intro to Supes if they did the movie like Batman Begins.

thats dumb, if they're using the OMAC's and Brother Eye they dont need Red K to make Superman go bad...

I thought that maybe he didn't mean Red K literally, rather he was just talking about Supes going rogue.

I dunno though.. I think adding a bit of Red K makes this story a little juicier in the speculation department. ;)

I actually thought that camp was meant referring to the producers. Glad as hell I`m wrong, hehe.

And I actually think that if it`s up to Toms camp, than I think that they`re gonna advise to do this movie because it`s such a career booster and he may never get a chance like this again.
This is great news imo.

:o Throw my vote in with the Welling crowd. I would just love to see the guy finally become Superman. It would actually give Smallville more meaning. I wanted them to do that from the beginning.:woot:
