Tom Welling as Superman

Lol, it may sound weird but I'm creating this character that I would love him to portray but he might be a bit too old by the time I get the character published & pattened & by the time he gains a lot of popularity.

Now IESB is reporting its up to Welling's camp -- I swear someone could have suggested awhile ago that no matter what WB wanted Welling probably wasn't going to want to have anything to do with this role? Now if only I could remember who that person was LOL

I also see based on these little nuggets of info we're going to hold out hope just like we all did in 2004 after all the info was coming out that it wasn't going to happen?? We should probably get over the fact Welling won't be in JLA, and that there will probably be yet another new Superman kicking around.

And yes, it's certainly a kick in the junk to witness a new Superman being cast that is exactly in the same age range as Welling; who happens to have the qualities they're searching for (based on current casting reports).

Life sucks -- people rarely care what others think when money is involved, and we have to move on.

I really don't mind someone new being cast as Superman, it gives someone else a chance to portray Supes.

You can't get anymore Superman than this:

I think I've found my new icon.

Spoilsport!:p

You have to laugh. You see all of these struggling actors dream of a big Hollywood tv or movie role. Then when they get it or offered it. They become disinterested. Jonathan Frakes had the best attitude regarding his role as Commander Riker on Star Trek. He was being interviewed about how long he would stay with the show. He said something to the effect. "I would stay as long as they want me. Where in Hollywood are you almost guaranteed a job and paycheck."

Interesting, Robert drops hints today that maybe that Tom isn't as out as he'd said last week and the film's stock price took a big jump over on HSX (the virtual hollywood stock exchange).

My portfolio went up nearly 200k just today because of that. I wish it was real money.

Oh, well....

;) :D

But do hollywood types notice stuff like that?

I don't even know.

NOW THAT'S SUPERMAN!
IF George Miller is as dumb as Singer to not cast Welling because he wants to hire his own face then I will skip JLA.
It's a shame that the WB/CW won't give the fans what they want, and have asked for now for a good few years.

It all depends on if Tom actually wants to be Superman, either way id be happy with routh or welling in JLA...but if they use lex it has to be rosenbaum if wellings in-itd be too weird having Tom as superman and someone like billy Zane or something for lex

I don't want to get my hopes up either, but I can't help it. I mean, if Tom's not in the movie, I'll probably end up watching JLA anyway, just like I watched SR. But if they announce his involvement, I'll actually be excited to see it. Another benefit by casting Tom? They don't have to give him months and months of extra training and weightlifting sessions to beef him up for the role. If cast, he can go right into filming. Plus, after seven years on Smallville, he's got plenty of experience with FX and wire work. It's a win-win to cast him. So hurry up WB!

Yeah I am so waiting to hear the news Tom is or is not def in JLA.

You just can't.. lol.

You know, every time I come into this thread I watch this clip...

And I can't stop watching it.

*sigh*

He's so :super: in it....

Now granted most of you may not remember me because I prefer to read over posting, but if any of you actually do remember me then you know that I love Smallville but I also loved SR. If I had my choice in the matter you can bet that I would choose Welling for the this JLA movie. But I am also very upset at the fact that MOS isnt going forward now or maybe ever. Now I personally love the idea of Tom slipping into the role of Supes, and I always have but he has pretty much stated before that he doesnt want it. Maybe thats changed. But honestly i am really torn because as much as i want to see Tom in the suit, i really liked Brandon as Superman too!! Now maybe my rambling has a point or maybe not. I guess basically the only way I wont be happy is if they choose yet another guy to play superman. Its Tom or Brandon for me. And while it may not matter much to the WB what one person thinks, I can tell you this if they choose a new guy to play Superman for JLA I wont go see it, I wont even take the time to bootleg it. End of rant/incoherrent babbling.

I throw my hands in there air on this one, I really don't know what to think or believe anymore.

I have to agree with Showtime, I just read the latest IESB updates, and the new poster still says there is a chance, I dont understand what Robert is talking about anymore sounds like he is getting his "info" from the poster at Countingdown.com who sounds legit. Maybe Tom is cast already for Supes and the WB is just trying to keep it tight lip till next year, I have no idea about this movie anymore. I am starting to think the movie shouldnt be rushed like this, let SVille finish and in 09 make JLA with Welling. Again this has been very confusing since Robert let the cat out of the bag about welling, I really REALLY wish he would have kept quiet about it till we knew more about his situation.

Wouldnt have mattered we would have still speculated and been blindly optimistic and hoping Welling would get the part. We would still be going back and forth as to reasons why WB would give it and why they wouldnt. So either way it is what it is lol.

If Robert said nothing then someone else would have & someone did say it was a possibility LONG BEFORE ROBERT DID & besides Robert was NOT the first to talk about Welling as Superman in JL

Well I just for one hope WB stops yanking us around and releases who will be Superman. The rest of the cast well I can live with but damn if I cant wait to find out if Tom got it or not.

Well, THIS thread has been busy. :D

Lots and LOTS to comment on, but I've gotta catch up with the last five days and have to fly. But Raku's post sums it up perfectly:

I read the script synop and it sounds fab. I've got no issues with Biel as WW, whatever version of Green Lantern they choose to use, or if Aquaman is or isn't in the film. Everything sounds fine so far.

But the difference between this :) and this
crazyhappy.gif
for me hinges on Welling being in the flick.

I really hope they can make it work, and getting James Marsters to fill in on SV for a few weeks *cough* is a GREAT start!!!!

Wait, what does Marsters' return have to do with Tom in JL?
