Tom Welling as Superman

They need to find a way for Tom to not miss an ep ,I don't think JM can carry Smallville, no slight against him, but a show about a hero can't have a villain be its focus, if there's no Clark, I sure wouldn't watch it.

unless he goes missing for some reason-or someone has him captive-so oliver comes back and rallies up the league and they take over for a few episodes lead by supergirl and Ollie (possible tension?) and go on a quest to save clark

How awesome would it be if Clark got trapped in The Phantom Zone again & the Zoners in the Zone waited & were prepared for the day for Clark to come back & they capture him making sure he does not get out & when the time comes Kara & Martian Manhunter & the Justice League old & new members go into The Phantom Zone to save Clark & kick some Phantom ass

Tom CANNOT miss any episode, it's ridiculous even thinking about it. The most they could do for him is to get him a little less screen time.

More rumors from a random poster at AICN

I leaked all of this yesterday, flame away if you must but those who recall (Abin Sur?) will hopefully vouch for my authenticity. It looks like my contact was being straight with me then in which case I can tell you with pretty much 100% certainty that the Supes casting is between only two people, noone else is in or will be under consideration. I was originally told that WB were going with Eddie Cibrian, a TV actor who I have not seen anything of, but apparantly "looks the part" for the role of Supes. But I can confirm that the only two guys now in the running are in fact Routh (who is more than likely due to be confirmed late next month) or yep, him again, Tom Welling. Routh is keen to keep his role in the movieverse, welling has a few issues that need to be ironed out before he can accept the role. Cibrian is no longer being considered, don't knwo why, anyone with any info on this please let me know. No loss either way So there you go either we get a repeat performance from Routh (which I really do think how this will land) or get to see Welling fly off into the new territory. As before tak from this what you will.

Same **** different day. But hey its good that real or not rumors keep on coming & coming. It shows that something is happening behind the scenes at the WB for all of this to keep on coming.

i want leaked costume designs dammit!:oldrazz:

While I totally agree in principle - there's no POINT to SV w/o Clark Kent, IMHO - I as a fan am willing to make concessions for a greater good LOL. And this isn't w/o precedent. The rumor going into S4 (remember Rob Merritt?) was that it would end with all characters in flux so they had options going into S5. As it turned out, S4 ended exactly how Rob said it would, and it was the only season to end as such. IOW, it wasn't a lucky guess.

C'mon folks. If we've learned anything after all these years, it's that Warners (et al) want OPTIONS. They don't paint themselves into a corner. I watch SV for one reason and one reason only: to see the story of CLARK KENT.

I'm okay with losing Tom Welling from a few episodes of SV if that's what it takes to get him into Justice League. As it is now, Clark is already being marginalized out the wazoo. That in itself is a tragedy. But if it gets him to JL, at least it's for a good cause, so I'm okay with it. The flipside is they're gonna marginalize Clark anyway just to spin-off SuperSkirt, and THAT has me fuming at the mere thought. :cmad: If I could rationalize it for a "greater good" however, that would give me solace.

And if... that other guy is cast... I'm gonna hurl. 'Nuf said.

I could go either way I know I wont loose sleep over who is cast. I know I wouldnt mind the Invasion guy being casted but he was probably someone they wanted before they came to the conclusion that its stupid having 3 Superman running around.

Smallville could very easily have Clark trapped in the Phantom Zone in like Episode 16 or 17, with the final batch of episodes entirely based on Kara first defeating the villains who trapped him, and then trying to get him out with the JLA.

Invasion guy? Was Routh in that show? :o

Dudes (and dudettes), I want to see Welling as Supes, BADLY. Duh! But if that falls through yet freakin' again, I'm mentally prepared for any OTHER actor in the role with one exception. And should that exception come to pass, I will NOT bother seeing the film. Ever. I dislike him that much. Yeah. Really.

Moving on.....

lol no according to that recent AICN post the WB originally wanted this guy Eddie Cibrian...
I was being facetious. I want Welling, but I'm pretty much open to just about anybody with one exception.

I understand Warners is against having three Supermen, and that's a smart move. But if there's some insurmountable impasse preventing Welling from accepting the role - an offer he allegedly wants - I would MUCH rather see a third Superman for JLA. That's the point I was trying to make. :)

He has an extensive resume, mostly television. Routh or Welling for me over that dude.

Welling over 'em all for me.

JL is a film that will be marketed to the action-oriented Transformers' crowd, one that wants their hair blown back by popcorn entertainment in the form of off the hook CGI and beautiful people with sexy bods. JL has the potential to do that, but casting is key. Personally, I want to see a jaw dropping Superman, and only Welling has done that for me recently. I've seen pictures of Biel and Reynolds, and I think they've got what it takes. I don't know who Warners has in mind for Batman. But I really want this cast to be earth shattering.

what's all this talk of 3 Superman running around? By the time JLA is out, Smallville will be over.

And if movie Supes were to be recast for someone other than Welling or Routh, Routh wont exactly be "running around" anywhere as Superman anymore, he'll pretty much be done as Superman if that happens, since if JLA is a smash the new guy would likely take over, and if it bombs, WB will be so gun-shy they wont touch the character for another decade.

Id hate for that to happen...i waited long enough for Superman Returns (which may have gone towards me not liking it much) but now its started i wouldnt want the franchise to die again
