I think Para was in the James Caviezel camp back in the day, but I could be mistaken. Or maybe that was MJZ? Wait, I think they both liked him for Supes. MJZ likes Wellling too though. Para, erm... not so much. LOL

I so want to believe its even possible Welling is up for the part. But, we all seem to be basing our hopes and even the talk that Welling is up for the part on posts by 2 posters (Sanchez and Emijay).

I've had so little to say these days, but I assure everyone who's been laying awake worrying about me, that i'm still reading what's going on.

So many ups and downs. It's frustrating. I really, severely hope that Welling gets the part. He deserves it, but not only that, we deserve it. The fans that have been following Tom as Clark Kent for over 6 years deserve that closure to the character.

I'm trying not to keep my hopes up. But sometimes hope is the only leg you have to stand on. Fingers crossed everyone.

If Welling does get cast. I do wonder if they will finally lift the bat-embargo from Smallville. I wouldn't surprise me if Gough and Miller's negotiations included this little bit, since they seem to have wanted to introduce Bruce Wayne since well... the beginning.

From a marketing POV, it would make sense to build up anticipation for the JLA film by using this series as a means. In other words, pump more cash into the show, and jack up the quality and action. Kind of like conditioning the audience for bigger and grander things.

I dunno, Para. Could they do that? I mean, I thought the whole reason they couldn't was because of Nolan. Nolan doesn't have anything to do with this now (which is truly a shame), so I'm not sure anything would or could change with Batman on SV.

They already stepped on Nolan's toes by the sheer fact that Batman exists in the JLA. I am not a big fan of the idea either. But if it happens - well it happens.

What I am inferring is of the JLA Batman/Bruce actor guest starring on Smallville. It depends who they cast. If the rumors of it being Gosling or Hartnett etc.. than the chances are lower. The latter (Hartnett) rumored actor did do a screen test for BB.

Hmm. I'm not sure how I feel about that. On one hand, there's the argument that it'll link the continuities too much, because what about the other heroes like Aquaman and MM? They are most assuredly being recast for JL. But the flipside is that casting Welling links the continuities no matter how you slice it; SV fans will most certainly be thinking "their" Clark Kent/Superman (vs. George Miller's version) while watching the film. As I understand it, this is one of the reasons for not using Welling in SR; the characterization was extremely different from what Welling had established.

I dunno, Para. I'll keep an open mind on it. I know SV fans would LOVE to see Bruce Wayne show up in SV, but I really don't think it's worth pissing off Nolan, not to mention the confusion it could cause, because now you've got all these franchises mixing and matching casts to suit somebody else's contract clause. Know what I mean? I want Welling in JL, but I'd really prefer they keep it separate from everything else. Obviously, Welling brings a bit of baggage all on his own, but I think SV fans already see him as Superman. But SV is about Clark Kent, so there's enough of a distinction for folks to hang their hats on. Make sense?
