Okay, new theory. Cause I love coming up with new theories. LOL

What if Warners is pissed about the casting leak because they wanted to keep it from CW?

Now wait, before you guys shoot me out of the sky like a clay pigeon, hear me out. How motivated would CW be to renew SV for an eighth season if they *knew* the star of the show would only be making guest appearances at best? Or worse - not be back at all?

G&M needs to know by November if CW is renewing for S8. What if there's a set date for that commitment? Like a few days before November 18? *cough* Gough's vehement denials might not have been to throw fans off the scent but a couched reassurance to CW that all is well! We've all been wondering why in tarnation GOUGH - of all people - keeps making statements when Warner Bros. is staying mum, and Welling's own reps are declining comment. Hmmm...

So here we are: SV's ratings are great (for CW). Superskirt looks promising. G&M have jawed publicly about having enough material to go eight seasons for months. Welling is SIGNED for S8, along with Durance and Glover, and it's likely G&M would be able to get Rosenbaum back for at least a partial season as a guest star. Everything is peachy keen. Given the rest of CW's piss poor line-up (with the exceptions of ANTM, Reaper and SN), there'd be no reason to doubt SV couldn't pull in the same ratings next year, right? Nothing's changed, right?

Bzzzzzt! Wrong. If SV was renewed for next season, but Welling's deal with Warner Bros. let him out of having to return for S8, I personally would have NO desire to watch the show anymore. And I'm guessing, so would a lot of other people. SV without TW is a deal breaker. I'd wave bye at that point and not look back.

It seems kind of silly to want to keep something like this from the CW. Because if the CW did not find out before the contracts were signed the CW for all we know could make things even harder & harder which they probably did & still is for Tom Welling to sign the contract. The very first thing the WB should have done after they talked to Tom to see if hes interested is talk to the CW / Smallville guys & go from there. If the WB tried to keep getting Tom Welling in this movie a secret until the last minute then I can not blame the CW or G & M getting pissed. That would be very unprofessional of the WB.

No, it's good business sense and done all the time. Corporations don't tell other corporations what they're up to if keeping silent a little longer will net them a bigger profit in the end. Think about it.

It makes me wonder why they delayed the announcement & confirmation until November. The only other Superman names we have heard of aside from Welling is that other guy & the Invasion guy. My guess is when the CW & G & M found out about the WB trying to get Tom Welling to sign a contract the 3 bastardteers stopped everything & the WB chosed an event taking place in November because they want the extra time dealing with G & M & the CW & it does not hurt to if worse comes to worse before November they will have just enough time to find someone else. The very first thing the WB should have done is talk to the CW & Smallville guys.

Because look at where we are at now because they didnt. They may never come to an agreement & rightfully so because the WB chosed to say **** it & ignore the CW & Smallville guys when they should have right away after talking to Tom go to talk to them.

Well, it would certainly explain a lot and I would agree: I would probably not tune if Tom wasn't returning for a Season 8.

I might give a Supergirl show a try, but if it's just more freaks of the week and Laura not wearing much, I'm not sure it would really hold any appeal for me at all.

Well, I don't know about some others but part of the reason I love Tom as much as I do is that he isn't just another pretty face. He's talented and smart too. I actually didn't become a fan of his until I realized that...

Pretty faces come a dime a dozen, you add a smokin' hot bod, talent and some brains and you have one in a billion.

Although, I do like to take a dip in the shallow end of the pool from time to time, don't think that's the only reason I prefer him to HWSNBN.

yep, I heard that back in an intereview when he did independence day. The guy is one of the smartest actors out there. and a very cool guy from all accounts.

I hate to say it but I seriously think Al Gough will take Tom Welling to court if Tom decides to do the movie. Al pretty much made it clear that he doesnt want Welling in the role. Hes like...Tom's agent or something. Or maybe he owns Tom's soul.

I highly doubt that will happen. Why would Tom want to do a show with ****ty show runners ? All Tom would do in return is TAKE THEM TO COURT & get himself out of the show. The last thing G & M would want to do is piss off the shows main star. They have no show without him.
