1. Iron Man 3: great trailers and casting had me excited for a movie that (I thought) was going to raise the bar for superhero and action movies. Instead, it was more akin to Bayformers, played for laughs, toss your brain out the window and strip away everything that makes the hero unique.
2. Man of Steel: how can people take their little kids to enjoy this ultra-violent, vulgar, excessively stark and grim Superman movie? Why would a filmmaker make a Superman movie that's not for kids to enjoy? It just felt wrong to me. There's so much great acting talent and experience here, only to be wasted on bad characterization and storytelling. So many key moments are forced, and ruined. Lots of critics savaged this movie, and deservedly so. This movie ought to have been so much better than it was. They needed somebody on that creative team to put on the brakes and offer some constructive self-criticism.
3. Pacific Rim: I loved it and saw it twice in 3D, which I've never done before. I'm very disappointed that so many people either missed out on something so fun and unusual. I really believe it would've made a lot more money with a more favorable release date.
4. Elysium: I was expecting more. I wanted to see it break away more from the typical action hero movies I've already seen before. It wasn't bad, it just left me feeling unsatisfied. It has its moments, but it felt like a missed opportunity to do something more engaging and memorable.
5. The Lone Ranger.
