Toy Story 4

By the way, I lost it every time Buttercup suggested a plan that eventually ended up with Bonnie's dad going to jail. Glad it was a running gag. :funny:

Just seen this. After Finding Dory (which I just found to be okay) and Incredibles 2 (which I found to be underwhelmingly mediocre), this movie is the best Pixar sequel we've gotten in a while.

I absolutely loathed Forky in the marketing and was fully expecting him to be grating, but good god, he was not. Very adorable and sweet character. Loved his father-son dynamic with Woody.

I do think this might be the end for the franchise (theatrical movies at least) due to the ending. I can't see where they would go from here.

Eh, you could have said the same after the third one. If the story is there, they will make another.

What an absolutely amazing film. Just when you think they couldn't possibly do anything after toy story 3, and they managed to do just that. Toy story 4 was incredible in every way shape and form. 24 years after the first films release, this is still one of the greatest franchises of all time. Thank you for an amazing 20+ years with these toys, Pixar.

And yes I did tear up AGAIN

The ending was emotional!

i love gabbi gabbi's happy ending!

I had to go see this as soon as soon as it dropped being that I'm such a huge Toy Story fan. Like most fans, I was worried that this would be a major step down after the greatness of 3.

Then the reviews made me feel better because it seemed like everyone who saw it loved it. So then, my expectations were very high once again. I thought I would be moved similar to 3 since I heard the ending was amazing.

Well, I was a tad let down. Don't get me wrong, it was a great movie. I love the loyal ninja Woody and the guy never stops thinking of others! I loved the new characters, they were all funny. I thought Ducky and Bunny would be annoying and distracting but they ended up being great. Bo Peep was a badass and I'm really glad she had such a big role, at first I was hesitant and it seemed like they ran out of ideas for a unique story.

My initial reaction was that, unfortunately, it felt a tad hollow. I heard the ending made the rest of the movie make a lot more sense from a YT reviewer (Stuckmann) but I didn't get that feeling. It had impact but nothing like 3. I get what they were going for at it kind of reminded me of Cap at the end of Endgame in the sense that the most selfless character (after the original) finally got to experience lasting love and personal happiness

Anyway, the animation was absolutely astounding. Some of the objects created looked GD photo-realistic (particularly things like antique shop and RV) and it was glorious.

I just wish it would have been a bit better. I'd give it a 7/10

Just came back from my second viewing. I wonder if one day we will see a Toy Story 5...

I don't think this was as emotional as the Toy Stoy 3, but goddamn this was so good. Ducky and Bunny are the MVP of the movie.

Damn 24 years already since the original Toy Story was released and still impactful. I freaking cried several times last night. Bravo to Disney and Pixar for keeping this Franchise rock solid with each sequel. I can say definitely that Toy Story 4 is an excellent film. Toy Story 3 is still my favorite of the series. But damn it from the moment I saw Woody, Buzz, Andy and Randy Newman's theme "You've Got A Friend In Me!" I got very emotional

Go see this masterpiece ASAP

I can start by saying this is a good movie. I enjoyed it. I don't think it lives up to the expectations and the franchise. The tone is there, the humor, the animation (my God, isn't that one of the most beautiful stuff you've ever seen??) and yes it even has the heart in the right place.
However, I can't help but feeling like there was something missing, and after thinking about it for a while, my instinct tells me
there wasn't enough of the original gang. The new toys are fine (Forky is really good), but the lack of Potato Head, Slinky, Rex, the aliens... it didn't feel right. There's a moment near the end in a group hug that hits perfectly and I was like "THAT'S what I was missing!".
Overall, a nice epilogue to the trilogy that doesn't quite recaptures what the previous ones did.
I think this is sorta how I feel about it too. Still really good and I liked the ending, but not as good as the first three.

Still, arguably one of the best franchises of all time.

God I loved this movie, and this series still. It's so incredible.

Saw this last night!

I enjoyed it and it was very funny, but it felt sort of disjointed, like it was two plots smashed together that didn't really complement each other.

And the ending was a head-scratcher to me. Woody has always stuck by his owner no matter what, even after being forgotten in a toy box for years. To have him suddenly throw that all over and leave Bonnie's and all of his old friends forever seemed out of character for him. To have him go from "We have to always be here for our owner!" to "Eh, forget Bonnie and all of you, she stopped playing with me so I'm out of here!" seemed a bit baffling.

They can't continue the franchise now unless they find a way to get Woody back to Bonnie's and since the carnival is traveling, that doesn't seem likely.
.

I personally wouldn't really call it out of character.

Throughout the course of the franchise, Woody has been selfless a lot of the time, putting other's needs before his own. This movie presented the idea of "being selfless and putting others before you is a good thing, but when it starts to come at the expense of your happiness, it's not a good behavior to take."

Buzz realized that if he left Bo again, he'd regret it for the rest of his life. Hence why he said it was okay for Woody to stay with her, that it's not a bad thing to stick with what makes you happy every once in a while. I find that a very mature lesson that a lot of adults can understand and relate it.

In some ways, you could say it's similar to Steve Rogers' ending in Endgame.

Tear up?
No, No , No, those were MY ALLERGIES!
That's my story and I am STICKING TO IT!

I thought it was good but in no way as good or as satisfying as toy story 3 was. The first half hour my fears were coming true wondering why this was needed but then the ending took it up a notch and tear jerking a bit.

3/5

My thoughts Exactly

Fantastic film, hit a lot of soft spots. Best looking film also since Finding Dory. Linking Woody to Cap was my first thought after the end.

I liked this a lot more than Toy Story 3. I know that one was universally beloved but it was too overly sentimental to me and the antagonist was just a repeat of the second one.

The humor in this one felt more fresh and even though it was two separate stories, they meshed well. Bo Peep was done very well and honestly is probably my favorite character of this series. It was nice the antagonist wasn’t just another purely evil toy.

The animation has also really come a long way. Recently watched the first one and the humans were so scary looking.

I wouldn't exactly call Lotso "purely evil", but okay.
