Awesome! How many people are going to see it?
Just seen this. After Finding Dory (which I just found to be okay) and Incredibles 2 (which I found to be underwhelmingly mediocre), this movie is the best Pixar sequel we've gotten in a while.
I absolutely loathed Forky in the marketing and was fully expecting him to be grating, but good god, he was not. Very adorable and sweet character. Loved his father-son dynamic with Woody.
I do think this might be the end for the franchise (theatrical movies at least) due to the ending. I can't see where they would go from here.
I think this is sorta how I feel about it too. Still really good and I liked the ending, but not as good as the first three.I can start by saying this is a good movie. I enjoyed it. I don't think it lives up to the expectations and the franchise. The tone is there, the humor, the animation (my God, isn't that one of the most beautiful stuff you've ever seen??) and yes it even has the heart in the right place.
However, I can't help but feeling like there was something missing, and after thinking about it for a while, my instinct tells meOverall, a nice epilogue to the trilogy that doesn't quite recaptures what the previous ones did.there wasn't enough of the original gang. The new toys are fine (Forky is really good), but the lack of Potato Head, Slinky, Rex, the aliens... it didn't feel right. There's a moment near the end in a group hug that hits perfectly and I was like "THAT'S what I was missing!".
Tear up?What an absolutely amazing film. Just when you think they couldn't possibly do anything after toy story 3, and they managed to do just that. Toy story 4 was incredible in every way shape and form. 24 years after the first films release, this is still one of the greatest franchises of all time. Thank you for an amazing 20+ years with these toys, Pixar.
And yes I did tear up AGAIN
I personally wouldn't really call it out of character.
Throughout the course of the franchise, Woody has been selfless a lot of the time, putting other's needs before his own. This movie presented the idea of "being selfless and putting others before you is a good thing, but when it starts to come at the expense of your happiness, it's not a good behavior to take."
Buzz realized that if he left Bo again, he'd regret it for the rest of his life. Hence why he said it was okay for Woody to stay with her, that it's not a bad thing to stick with what makes you happy every once in a while. I find that a very mature lesson that a lot of adults can understand and relate it.
In some ways, you could say it's similar to Steve Rogers' ending in Endgame.
