TPBs Bought/Thought Thread

Identity Crisis was extremely good in my say. Especially the first time you read it,your guessing and such. Technically I think it's the best DC event, even though it was the first.

Yeah, the "first" what?

And it's not a big deal, but a lot of people remember Identity Crisis as an event, which it wasn't. It was just a seven issue miniseries, MINOR tie-ins with a few ongoings, and a sequel story arc in JLA, but that's pretty much it. It wasn't a company wide crossover or anything.

It's rampant. People confusing a big story with an event.

And then getting that horribly wrong. I'd say it was more like their 236th event, if it were an event and not their 609th big story.

I'm pulling these figures outta my ass of course, hence the funky smell.

I read X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills. It was really good, and it took on a lot of interesting ideas. I feel much clearer on Messiah Complex as a result of it, since I was kind of confused about the Purifiers there. Kind of a shame that Neal Adams couldn't draw it, but Anderson's art was excellent.

I can either get either a Iron Man,Silver Surfer or Spider-Man omnibus. Which should I get first?Second?Third?

I never knew that DC made omnibuses also. The Starman isn't out yet,but I will consider it..but with the choices I put up..what's the smart choice?

I don't know, who do you like best outta the ones listed? When you have that answer, then you have the answer.

I also agree with Anubis. Which of the characters are you interested in more? Also, I've seen a collection of Spider-Man and Iron Man comics on CD-Rom or a DVD in Circuit City. The last issue that was collected on that would be June 2006. You might consider that as well since it includes every page. I didn't buy either so I'm not sure about the ease of use

I've heard the comic CD-roms are easy to use as long as you have Acrobat Reader 7. And it's a free program, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I'd prefer the digital subscription over the CD-ROM collections, to be honest. Eliminate all the loading of discs and everything.

The Brubaker omnibus? I was considering that. I would have wanted a Stan Lee version, but I went with the Surfer. But it might fall though,if that's the case it's Spider-Man.

Just finished

Batman: Dark Detective

and

Superman: Death of Superman

Not much to say about these books....they were both pretty bad lol. The writing in Dark Detective was pretty terrible and the art wasn't much better. The Jokers plan was pretty non-sensical and pointless (like many other poorly written Joker stories)

Death of Superman was........okay I guess...pretty lame overall, Not as bad as I thought it was going to be but not much better. Doomsday has absolutley no depth as a character and wasn't worthy of taking out Superman. This book just reaked of typical 90's tripe in comics (no wonder it took me like 15 years to read it lol)

I decided to start reading Star Wars: Legacy and picked up the first TPBs off of Amazon.

Well,I got the Silver Surfer omnibus..but I bought 2 new things..

V for Vendetta and Marvel Zombies, both in paperback form. I've always wanted V,but I've heard every so often about Zombies for the past year..so I decided to get it. Good choices?

One issue in....so far, fantastic. A lot of fun, great dialogue, simple but beautiful art.
I love the whole "crime drama" setting combined with superheroes.
Can't wait to continut reading it...and get the rest of the books as well.

Can't go wrong with Alan Moore. Marvel Zombies wasn't bad as long as you don't think too hard about it.

Good for you. Powers is a good series.

I just bought the "Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser" TPB, early work by Mike Mignola. Great stuff.
