Sci-Fi Tron Legacy - v2.0

5 months later and I still listen to the score at least once a week. Have to get out there and buy both movies. Perhaps this weekend. What's the current status on the Tron: Uprising TV series?

Uprising is still slated for Summer 2012, no specific date yet.

The score is indeed awesome. I still need to pick up the Reconfigured remix album.

Both movies look insane on Blu, if you've got it. Legacy is maybe the nicest looking and sounding disc I own. It almost blew out my subwoofer and woke the neighbors. :word:

^Excellent news, have watched Tron yesterday but will be watching Legacy tonight, cant wait!

got it today, a little disappointed at the lack of special features on the dvd

Hi,

Question for the UK citizen : do the DvD and BR sold in England come with a French audio track ?

^As far as I recall yes they do.

Watched it on BD last night on the picture is amazing, sound was okay in non IMAX scenes, but AMAZING in the Imax scene's so overall I was extremely happy with it.

As for the movie, I refer back to my point on the first page that I wish they would have explained the ISO's a bit more, would have liked to have known what made them so special and how they can go into the real world.

Aveitwithjamon,

Do you mind to check on your BR if there is indeed a French track ? Just to be sure.

I'm asking because the Tron DvD/BR combo is only release here in June and I'm thinking to order the UK version ( I watch my movies in english but in case I have to land it to my friends it will be better with the french audio ).

I think the explanation of the ISOs being special was there. They have perfect, flawless DNA, basically. Which i took as meaning they could be studied in the real world for cures to things like cancer.

But yea, how they get them into the real world could have been explained a bit more.

.
but ISO's are from the computer. a software.

its just DNA like that?

Well the ISOs had some kind of biomechanical DNA. Like a code. As shown when Flynn repairs Quorra's arm.

I'm thinking that when they come to the real world, they turn into real human beings. But completely flawless, free of any genetic disorders, imperfections etc.

I hear it's dominating in blu-ray and dvd sales...I don't have exact numbers.

I think they're waiting for the Expanded Universe, like where that kid in Reloaded came from (Animatrix)

The ISOs also had philosophical and religious significance in that Flynn created a world in which he was God and yet the ISOs were still created beyond his control. They represented a new chapter in the creation debate.

But yea, how they get them into the real world could have been explained a bit more.
It's simple really, if Flynn could arrive in their world, CLU 2 could appear in ours. Especially since most of the denizens of the Grid were programed to be people like you and me, as opposed to being programed with a purpose in the ENCOM system.

It really didn't need a heavy explanation.

Tron is doing fantastic on blu-ray. It set a new blu-ray record in which 68% of all sales were on blu-ray.

Yep, I was just checking out the article and for its first week it did very well.

In a three-way race between newly released theatrical sequels, it was Tron: Legacy by a mile.

The adrenaline-charged sci-fi action sequel from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment debuted at No. 1 on all three home video charts its first week in stores, riding off a domestic box office gross of $172 million and a worldwide theatrical take of $399.2 million – as well as a PG rating.

The week’s two other blockbuster theatrical releases, Universal Studios’ Little Fockers ($148.4 million domestic gross), installment No. 3 in the comedy franchise, and Twentieth Century Fox’s Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ($104.4 million), also a three-quel, just couldn’t compete.

On the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, Fockers finished a distant third, outdone by sophomore Tangled, from Walt Disney Studios, at No. 2. Nielsen data indicates Tron: Legacy outsold PG-13-rated Fockers by a 2-to-1 margin, although Nielsen numbers don’t include Walmart or Sam’s Club. Dawn Treader (PG) followed close behind at No. 4. (In all fairness, Dawn Treader was released on a Friday, three days after the traditional Tuesday, giving it fewer days in stores for the tracking period.)

Tron: Legacy and Tangled finished in the first two spots on Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart, as well, generating a respective 68 percent and 33 percent of their unit sales from the format during the week ending April 10. Dawn Treader bowed at No. 3, while Little Fockers entered the chart at No. 5. Dawn Treader generated 44 percent of its first-week unit sales from Blu-ray, while for Little Fockers just 24 percent of units sold were in high-definition.

On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart, Fockers debuted at No. 19 because Universal holds back its new releases from Netflix and Redbox for 28 days. Following Tron: Legacy at No. 1 was the previous week’s top renter, The Tourist, from Sony Pictures, which slipped to No. 2 after two weeks on top.

On the sales front, Tron-mania was so strong that the original 1982 film reappeared at No. 5 on First Alert and No. 4 on the Blu-ray Disc sales chart – while a combo pack with both films bowed at No. 9 on First Alert and No. 6 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.

I hope that if they make a sequel they talk about what makes cyber-characters in the real world different. In Legacy they acted like CLU entering the real world would be a major threat to all mankind; but unless cyber characters have some kind of special abilities (similar to how users have powers in the digital world) I don't see CLU's army standing much of a chance against our world's modern military.

The technology that CLU 2 would have brought into the real world was far more advanced than our world's modern military. Also, CLU 2 had a lot of power programed within him and probably would have been able to take down the cyber capabilities of our military as well, rendering our military useless.

Also Clu could create armies almost instantly right? Look at that factory where all those programs were turning into minions. Even if you killed a large army of his he probably would have another one up and running in no time

And: does Clu have the ability to create programs?

Darkness what set did you get. Cause special features are dependent on which set you got.

Good to know its doing well on BD/DVD, hopefully this means a sequel will officially get the greenlight rather than people just saying they are working on it.

I was wondering how others felt, or if they have felt like this about other films before.

The other day, I was surprised to find Tron was what, 95 minutes long? It doesn't feel like it. When I was a lot younger and it was on the Disney Channel, it felt a lot longer (possibly with ads, which of course would add to the total time) but it still felt long.

It's not a bad thing. I don't mind shorter films, by todays standards it seems, feeling longer. Sometimes the film is just plain boring, but often I find the film is packed full and I find it very enjoyable.

But Tron Legacy is about 2 hours? And it doesn't feel like it's 2 hours. I enjoy the film a lot as well, but I swear it feels like it flies by when watching it compared to Tron, and I still feel it has enough in the film.

Maybe I'm just weird. It's not the first time though a 2 hour film, or longer, has felt short but an hour thirty has felt long.

Either way I wondered if anyone else has found this with some films before. Apologies if my explanation is awful. I'm really tired. :funny:
