Yeah, I think they are getting there. The first scene made me shrug a little to, but thought it was surprisingly good. In the Grid I accepted it more since these were digital beings. Reminded of Arnold in Terminator Salvation, although slightly better. I think Clu's face would have been better if they gave it more expression and mannerisms. It was just stiff, the lighting was a little poor, and there weren't as many imperfections in his face to make it real. If they would have added more facial de-coloration, blemishes, wrinkles, etc. it would have looked a lot more natural and realistic. But all in all I thought it was good and worked for the setting.

I agree, a few more blemishes would have done CLU good, but it's easy to rationalize it since he's a digital being. Thats why I wasn't bothered as much by CLU looking so digital, but Flynn de-aged wasn't as great.

My biggest question is why didn't they go back in for flynn when they got out? he said it's like a bank safe you have to open it from the outside, so once they got out why not just go back in and get him? going back in would reset the timer so they had all the time to get flynn back out and clu was gone, so should be an easy task.

The music was amazing.

As soon as Flynn is done with his intro monologue we know that something quite special was going to happen with the score. These guys outdid themselves.

i still think that what they did with the character [BLACKOUT]Tron[/BLACKOUT] was not clear to the general public.

I think most could figure it out by watching the film IMO . I didn't see the first and still had some questions but wasn't confused.

Because as they mentioned earlier in the film, re-integrating Clu killed him.

Agreed. I'm not saying that she didn't do well. She did. She [her character Quorra] was essential to the film, and Olivia did great. I just don't think that she overshadowed any of the other actors or was that much better than Garrett/Sam or Kevin/Jeff. I've heard others say that she was far better than those two and that Hudland/Sam was like a piece of wood. I didn't see it. I thought he was good and on for what/whom he was portraying.

Yeah, I don't get that either. But that always seems to happen whenever a character is an outlet for us, the audience, to be introduced to a new world. It's a challenge for an actor because he or she has to create a character that is interesting and unique, yet is just normal or average enough that audience members aren't sitting there thinking they are watching a movie with a bunch of strange people they can't relate to.

People criticized Keanu Reeves in The Matrix and Ellen Page in Inception for the same reasons. But I completely disagree that either of them gave a weak performance. They were exactly what the needed to be in those films, as Hedlund was here.

Hedlund wasn't the most charismatic lead, he didn't need to be. No way was he wooden. I don't get how people could say that. He served his purpose as the protagonist and he didn't have to do an over-the-top performance to get that point across. I get your point. Olivia Wilde didn't overshadow Garrett Hedlund or Jeff Bridges, I agree with you.

Loved Wilde's laugh in the lightbuggy (?) scene; sounded so natural and not at all forced (which is a feat that may be harder than some think).

I have to be honest here too, I didnt find her sexy either. More sort of innocent and wholesome.

Whoa man, she definitely was.

Exactly what I thought. I still thought he did a good job, though.

I also think this movie will be a cult classic like the original, or it seems like it will be. I would like the sequel to Legacy sooner though... :oldrazz:

I have two questions about this film.

1. Is it worth seeing in 3D or should I just go to a 2D showing?

2. Is there an end credits scene?

His character was way too bland for me to care one way or another about him. I cared far more about the supporting characters in this film than him. That's not good. He had chances to stand out, but he made those character moments boring. I think that was one of the biggest reasons people are criticizing the story.

1. Its worth seeing in 3D for the scenes they show in 3D (only times it wasnt in 3D it was the first 15 minutes and the last 5 or so minutes)

2. no and ive checked to make sure

The 3D didn't have much to offer, It had a few scenes that were. The only one sticking out is when a laser comes right at you. Thought that was cool.

And no, no end credit scene. Was really hoping for one, but no :csad: Still wasn't that bad waiting, the end credit music was great. :awesome:

Exactly. What I think is happening is that people [general audience & critics] are becoming so use to the reluctant, witty, sarcastic young heroes as seen with Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds that when a fresh young male actor gives a more realistic and not over the top performance they question the actor's likability and charisma. I think Sam's reaction to the series of events was much more realistic than say other characters by the actors stated in similar roles, just my opinion.

@Warhammer.....I figured that's how you saw it.

Apart of me wants a sequel because I would love to see the Grid again and see if Tron or Kevin Flynn survived. I also want to see if Dillinger Jr. ends up being the villain. Then again, I kinda don't want to know what happens to Sam and Quorra afterward or if Flynn or Tron survived. Also, I don't know how they would handle Quorra being the breakthrough in scientific research in the real world (would she end up becoming a lab rat?) without it being cheesy (is some agency going to chase after Quorra and that's how she ends up going back into the Grid).

Neo in The Matrix was better portrayed than Sam in this film. He was less bland and had more dimension. Same with Ellen Page in Inception. I disagree with that comparison.

Maybe Sam has to return her to the Grid and Dillinger Jr. is brought in to go after them?

Thanks Karelia! I plan on seeing this on Saturday or Sunday. I think I'm going to talk my gf into a double feature and catch True Grit as well. She wants to see both too, so she should be down.

I don't think that Sam and Quorra will reveal to the world that she is an ISO and could be the key to ushering in a new age of technology. I don't see that happening. However, if Dillinger Jr. finds out about her and threatens to tell the world, and blackmails his way into entering the Grid that could possibly make for a good film.

I want to see more of Tron though. The movie is made in his namesake.
