Turtles forever

April brought some useful insight when they went after Stockman, since she used to work for him and was more familiar with his programming as well as security systems. And even Don needs some help sometimes, he can't always solve every upcoming tech problem, just because he's the Tech Turtle.

And what good did Movie April's snooping do? Other than have her land on Shredder's hit list and give away the Turtle's hideout, since Raph had to save her?

So, she was useful against one villain. Awesome.

That's like asking, "what good was it Lois Lane falling off that helicopter in Superman?" April's snooping started the chain reaction.

Yeah, I think that Shredder's status as the arch nemesis was a major improvement (was it the '87 cartoon that started this trend?). If I were the people planning the new Live Action movies, that's one place where I would not follow the comic, and would instead look to the 2k3 series although I agree about disliking Shredder being an Utrom. I would have much preferred that they kept Shredder as a human, and possibly introduced Krang as being an evil Utrom (in the 2k3 series there was an Utrom named Krang, but he only had a cameo).

Interestingly, in the 2k3 series there was a human Oroku Saki that Utrom Shredder commandeered the name and motif of, and it's arguable that the human Shredder was even more of a bad ass than the Utrom Shredder. He acquired demonic powers and laid waste to much of ancient Japan before he was defeated, so really Utrom Shredder is a wannabe of an even more bad ass version of The Shredder who was human.

Still though, regardless of wheter is the Utrom Shredder or the demonic-powered human Shredder, the 2k3 series has pretty much the most bad ass version of Shredder ever, so both the writers of the new show and the new movie should take note of what they got right with him.

Yeah, Demon Shredder was pretty bad ass. It took the combined efforts of the Turtles, the Acolytes, the Foot Clan, The Purple Dragons, Bishop and his agents, and The Justice Force to bring him down. I liked Demon Shredder alot more than Utrom Shredder.

Yes. The `87 toon, despite all its backlash, did make some improvements over the source material. That being one of them. I also prefer reporter April O' Neil. The antique shop/scientists assistant April just doesn't do it for me. I like that reporter April has that Lois Lane vibe to her. It makes joining the Turtles' fight against evil more plausible.

This is why I think the 1990 live-action movie is still the best adaptation. It combined the Mirage comic with the `87 toon. It combined the best of both worlds. And I hope Nick heads in that direction with their toon and movie.

Word up Catman. Totally agree with you. The Mirage Comics were cool, and pretty bad ass, but it was the 87 toon and the Archie comics that gave the turtles an expanded rogues gallery, better characters and adventures. After " Return to NY ", and before " City at War ", most of the Mirage turtle comics were one or two shot stories done by guest artists and writers that gave the series an uneven anthology-like feel.

I really don't have a problem with April being a reporter or lab assistant, and so far the 1990 movie was the closest to being a " Mirage " movie so far, while " Secret of the Ooze " was more like the 87 toon. The third movie just plain sucked ! I didn't like the 2007 movie either.

Just split the difference and have her work at a lab, but be a science reporter.

And TV Reporter April has been useful against how many?

It wasn't just Stockman, in the 2K3 cartoon April has been useful plenty of times. She often supports the Turtles from their lair with computer intel, whenever Don is out with his brothers and can't do it himself or she helps with other technical problems.

And later she's learned enough from Splinter, that she could even join Casey and Splinter on a rescue mission to save the Turtles from Agent Bishop.

That's like asking, "what good was it Lois Lane falling off that helicopter in Superman?" April's snooping started the chain reaction.

They would have met him eventually anyway, if the kept going out, beating up thugs. Shredder can be made aware of the Turtles in many different ways. Instead of just having April being responsible for starting the chain reaction and then being useless from that moment on.

And TV Reporter April has been useful against how many?

Since she's a reporter, all of them! She has the connections, skills, and know-how to assist the Turtles in all of their investigations. The sequels didn't take advantage of that, but that doesn't mean the writers in the new TV show and movies can't do it.

Something they don't really need. I can't remember a time where they had a problem investigating something or even needed to. They are vigilantes. The most they do is beat up thugs and street gangs. They handle whatever they should happen to encounter at the moment or keep the neighbourhood clean. Anything on a larger scale has to do with Ninjas, Monsters, Aliens and other crazy stuff. In most of these cases the trouble comes to them.

Also, you'd think 4 Turtles trained in the art of stealth, would be able to follow people by themselves. Raph wouldn't have any problems beating a bit of information out of someone. Not to mention that facing 4 giant mutated Turtles, thugs would be more than willing to talk anyway.

one aspect of the new April i really liked, i hated the fact the 80's one never grew beyond the damsel in distress role

i enjoyed the version of her in TMNT

has a list of what alt universes were shown been found yet. watching it on youtube it's hard to make a lot out

I notice you always like to concentrate on one single sentence and pretty much ignore the rest of the post.

This should be required viewing for anyone who thinks the 80's cartoon is the original canon.

From 4Kids:

I actually liked the TMNT version of April as well, she progressed as both as a fighter as well as professionally, as she tried to grow out her antique business into a shipping company. I feel the Archie comics did more with Reporter April then the old cartoon, and the 2k3 cartoon did more with Scientist April the the Mirage comics.

The major reason I like Scientist April is it sets up a unique bond between her and Donatello, similar to the bond between Raph and Casey.

Most of the Alt universes are just the turtles drawn by different artist throughout the years, artist including; Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, Eric Talbot, Michael Zulli, Michael Dooney, Dan Berger, and Jim Lawson.

Some alternate universe turtles shown included: Anime Turtles, Archie Comics Turtles,Toddler Turtles, "Same As It Never Was" Turtles, Super Hero Turtles, Paper Craft Turtles, Dreamwave Turtles, Live-action Movie Turtles, CGI Movie Turtles.

Just saw something incredibly funny yet very disturbing on the technodrome forums. One member posted a link from his flickr account of a rare underground X-rated TMNT Adventures comic made by a couple of Mirage artists back in 1993, and sold by Stephen Murphy. Very FUNNY !!, and definately not for kids.

Nope. None of the va's from the older series came back because it was a "non-union" project.

Is this the actual poster or a fan manipulation?
