Two-Face/Harvey Dent Thread

My friend, your words are the epitome of the epic fail. Have you even read a Two-Face comic? Or do you just go on the petty words of others?

The Two-Face in TDK is not even an ounce of the fleshed out character he is in the comics, with heaps of stories with him killing mobsters, trying to undo what he believes as wrongs, imposing his own order, getting revenge and not to mention his many psychotic breakdowns, love interests and tear jerking moments. He brings out the best in comic writers really.

Oh yeah, and Epic fail.

Thank You. SOOOOOOO many people act like they know the Batman universe after watching The Dark Knight.

My pleasure, I've always felt I need to calm down and stop being so grumpy but then someone goes and makes an absolutely, abysmally moronic comment that makes you want to know how they managed to find their way out of their mother's womb, and I just feel better about telling them that! :word:

Oh, and thanks Greg, you raise a very good point with Two of a Kind, she did bring some peace to them both until the twin showed up, and their duality started slipping and they tore back into two separate characters. Even in the end I believe even Two-Face missed Marilyn, not just Harvey.

Anyone have a specific favorite Two-Face or Harvey moment from a story?

I love in Dark Victory when he comments about not knowing who Grace is, but then later is not effected by poison ivy's kiss, saying "Go To Hell" with a picture of Grace is the background. Little things likt that kind of show that Two-Face is a much more sad and tragic person than he'd ever let on, a lot like Bats.

My least favourite moment is in Arkham Asylum: Living Hell which was a great book, but I really disliked how Two-Face flicked a coin for EVERYTHING!

LOL, I've yet to read that book. What were some of the stuff he flipped for?

When he shot and killed the new DA in Dark Victory who said they were in love and he said something like "Harvey Dent is a married man."

Damn bad-ass that was, in fact. :word:

I've also yet to read Gotham Central (damn Half of Life was out of print since forever! :cmad:) but I loved the relationship between Harvey and Renee Montoya.

Yes, Half A Life was awesome. The first volume was made into a hardcover so hopefully the other 4 volumes get reprinted too. Also, you can get Half A Life for about $8 on Amazon.

Hmm, I may have to look into that. Thanks!

In the story Schismed Faces Harvey breaks out ofArkham and then goes back to his old house. He shoots the occupant and kicks in a hollow wall to mull over his ghost files. He plans to go after the criminals he couldn't proscecute as DA.
I just loved how even as Harvey Dent he had a harsh, moralistic streak to him. The kind of man who would have someone arrested with no real proof.
It was one of the best depictions of the character.

In TLH where Harvey kills Falcone then tells Gordon & Batman there was two more holiday killers.

I read one issue,
it was shocking to find out that Renee was a lesbian.

by the way, I've read lots of two face books

and my thoughts were meant to be that The writers should only write two face as like the ones that have been good like :

Long Halloween (origin but great over all book)

Dark Victory ( again my Idea as Two Face getting Revenge against the mob)

I've read Gotham Central Half a Life ( great twist about Montoya and showing that two face is what he's doing out of love for her )

two face crime and punishment were he gets revenge on his father (but stupid game show crap)

Face to Face (not all about two face and weak as how he blames batman on how he becomes two face again)

Two of a Kind (great Two gimmick idea and Bruce Timm's Artwork)

Two face Jekyll and Hyde (eh it was too dumb how he was making doctors do his bidding and taking out His pain on everyone but the "brother" part was interesting)

Batman Annual 15 ( my fav. Two face story ever and love the cover art and is simply great over all origin)

and recently got Two face -faces (loved it and liked the who two face man part and the end)

So all I was saying in my statement that Two Face is a Tragic Character and should be treated as such. I grew up seeing him as silly from the animated series and Batman Forever and now that I saw Dark Knight I hope the Writers (from books to Tv to movies) keep him as a tragic character and not a joker clone with number 2 crimes

p.s. what's with this online talk by the way? "epic fail"? sad thing is it will be in the Encyclopedia one day, Along with LOL and FTW (which I'll still see that and think that means F the world)

Can anyone tell me the basic plotline for Batman: Faces?

Basically Two-Face gathers a bunch of "freaks" and wants to build a secluded island that contains them. Sounds like a good thing, right? But to do it he doesn't mind stealing, blackmailing, and killing to create it.

That Gotham Central comic... is that a one-shot, or is there a story arc with Two-Face and Montoya?

found this on BOF in the review of the recent nightwing and i completely disagree with this

"So considering how awesome the fight is, you’d think the rest of the comic would be pretty good, too, right?

Wrong.

What in Gotham is this crap, writer Peter J. Tomasi? The twist of this issue was absolutely ridiculous. Yes, we all know how messed up Harvey Dent/Two-Face is, but seriously? I was practically laughing out loud, it was that bad.

Okay, what am I talking about? Are you sure you want to know? Ready?

Pretty much the other half of the comic consisted of this little scenario.

Harvey: “It’s me! I’m going to kill you, Carol! Now die!” BANG! “What? Carol’s dead?! No! Nightwing was supposed to protect her from me, I mean the other me, I mean …damn you, Nightwing! I will have my revenge!”

… Yeahhh.

Ahem. So, anyway....

I mean, Two-Face is one of my favorite villains. Really, he’s not this stupid. And the fact that he didn’t even know what he did to Carol -- are you kidding me?"

I thought it was pretty lame tbh, i mean Harvey could have just locked himself in if he was THAT damn worried of having his alternative persona kill her, but nooo.... he just HAD to trust Nightwing while his other persona worked hard to kill her and succeeded.

Well, if Harvey locked himself up, it wouldn't be an interesting story now, would it? :cwink:

If anything, I think this story also showcased just how much the Harvey side is a bit into play. We see that he still believes that the good guys can still do good and that he's willing to put his whole trust into the good guys to achieve what's needed to achieve. Sadly, that belief and trust in them got taken down now that the scarred side was able to defeat the good guy.

Two-face: Year One #2 comes out today. Don't forget to pick it up!

Is that the cover?

Yes, and the interior art is truly amazing! I just finished reading and it was a truly exciting read! I felt a little more could be done, but it's definitely a good read.

Is it better than the first one. I thought the first was very....bland.

Hmm. Well, I enjoyed the first one a lot and I'd say it's just as good. I just think there should have been another issue to help the read be smoother.

I can respect that, but to be honest I love it. It was a little predictable yes but awesome all the same. It was never really revealed how much Harvey knew of how Carol's assassination would play out, so for all we know he only just learned that Two-Face was the murderer.

I prefer to think though that the good in him however troubled truly still believed in heroes, and that ultimately, good, and perhaps even HIS good, could triumph over evil. And he was wrong this time. Wow, I just made myself shed a tear!
