Two-Face/Harvey Dent Thread

I can respect that, but to be honest I love it. It was a little predictable yes but awesome all the same. It was never really revealed how much Harvey knew of how Carol's assassination would play out, so for all we know he only just learned that Two-Face was the murderer.

I prefer to think though that the good in him however troubled truly still believed in heroes, and that ultimately, good, and perhaps even HIS good, could triumph over evil. And he was wrong this time. Wow, I just made myself shed a tear!

Haha! Yeah, that's exactly how I feel also about his good side.

:pal:, that is brilliant! Thanks for posting Greg, I love those strips, have you got a link?

On a slightly more on-topic discussion, what is everyone's thoughts on Face the Face? I have heard good and I have heard bad, so I'm uncertain as to what its quality is. The only thing I know concerning this is a general disagreement in that the third act falters a bit.

Here's the link to the rest of 'em, they're freakin' hilarious. http://pics.livejournal.com/the_dark_cat/

As for Face To Face, I enjoyed it a lot although there are many things I can agree on with some of the critiques. The reason for Harvey to become Two-Face again I felt was forced and a bit stupid and the reveal of the mastermind behind the whole mystery was what really dragged the whole story down. As a Two-Face story in itself, it's not bad. I enjoy the Two-Face/Harvey moments, the art is great, and the writing is pretty solid. I love the Tim and Bruce moments. Also, although I felt the reason for Harvey becoming Two-Face again was forced, that issue itself was brilliantly written. The whole issue was about Harvey and Two-Face conversing and debating if they should take the plunge, etc. I love that issue. That issue is also in the Batman vs Two-Face trade.

Thanks a heap mate, for the link and the mini-review. Sounds good, I heard the Tim/Bats relationship is good, he tries to be a lot more optimistic/kind doesn't he? I've heard the scarring issue was good, I'll have to buy this and the Batman vs Two-Face collection too now, they are both at my comic store. Oh well, Christmas is coming up soon so maybe I won't have to spend all my money....
I have to say I'm glad Two-Face is FINALLY getting more attention, after years of Joker Joker Joker it's glad to see him back in full force, I really want someone to write a story about him during the time he wasn't scarred following Hush, I felt it was lazy that writers didn't use him.

Yes, I really wanted to see that so much! I thought that 52 event should have showed Harvey defending Gotham as before Batman left, he trained Harvey for two months and left him to protect Gotham. We only see a few panels of this in the Face The Face story. I'd love to see a flashback of Harvey having to go through some rigorous training to show they he got what it takes.

And yeah, Bruce started showing a bit more compassion and it was nice seeing. Especially with a cop earlier in the story. Despite the ending, it was a rather well written story.

Just read those comics and laughed so hard I had people staring. I really hope somone one day decides to fill in those gaps, it's one of the good things that will hopefully happen aftr RIP, writers will go back and finally write a good Mad Hatter story, Mr.Freeze one, Hugo Strange one etc..

So I take it you are a big Two-Face fan then Greg?

Heh heh, most of my posts are Two-Face central. :woot:

Yeah, he's my absolute favorite character of anything. I'm actually not buying any of the Big 2 books (except for X-Factor and Hellblzer) but if Harv appears in a book I'll buy it. :o

I'm sure most of us have seen this already, but for the ones who haven't. And besides... this is the Two-Face thread.

Yeah, I know. Makes me sad it's like $150 or something. :csad:

Hopefully I find a great deal at the NYCC next year.

That might be the first figure I get, but at $150, I'll wait a little while.

That is such a beautiful figure, absolutely fantastic. I can't afford it though, besides, I want to get the TLH Two-Face figure.

I always have trouble finding that damn TLH figure. I always find it when I don't have cash. Whenever I get the cash for it, they sold it the day before. :cmad:

I do have this, though.

Two-Face looks Japanese there.

I also have that figure.

I was informed just a minute or so ago that Harvey appears in the DC Universe Halloween Special that came out yesterday. He fights a werewolf and I hear it's a pretty funny/classic moment. Don't forget to check it out, I know I will! :word:

Better yet, I'll post it up as I heard the rest of the issue pretty much sucked. :yay:

Two-Face vs a werewolf?! Sounds like my kind of story! *grins*

Y'know, I'm really enjoying reading the different Two-Face graphic novels. I hadn't paid much attention to him before, thanks to TLJ's performance in 'Batman Forever.' Nothing like a bad portrayal to put me off, and a good one to bring me back. Anyway, I've been reading the 'Batman vs. Two-Face' book, and found it... interesting. I hadn't realized Two-Face had been around since the 40's! It was hard to get through some of the older comics, though; Batman seemed goofy (he played baseball!!!!!), Robin was the equivalent of the damsel in distress, and Two-Face... Well, let's just say, whoever revamped his character did a good job. I like him as the darker, crazier, tragic figure.

I'm curious, though. When did the split personality aspect come in? In the early comics, he was crazy, but there was no distinct second personality. And how often did he appear in classic issues? The stories in the graphic novel make it sound as if his appearances were very few and far between.

Hey, LadyKayoss! Welcome to the Two-Face family! :woot:

This is from wikipedia, it can help out a bit on some of your questions about his appearances.

The character only made three appearances in the 1940s, and appeared twice in the 1950s (not counting the impostors mentioned below). By this time, he was dropped in favor of more "kid friendly" villains, though he did appear in a 1968 issue (World's Finest Comics #173), in which Batman declared him to be the criminal he most fears. In 1971, writer Dennis O'Neil brought Two-Face back, and it was then that he became one of Batman's arch-enemies.
In the wake of Frank Miller's 1987 revision of Batman's origin (see Batman: Year One), Andrew Helfer rewrote Two-Face's history to match. This origin, presented in Batman Annual #14, served to emphasize Dent's status as a tragic character, with a back story that included an abusive, alcoholic father, and early struggles with bipolar disorder and paranoia. It was also established, in Batman: Year One, that pre-accident Harvey was a major heroic figure working as one of Batman's earliest allies. Harvey had clear ties to both Batman and Commissioner Gordon, making him an unsettling and personal foe for both men.

It was in Batman Annual #14 when the split personality aspect of the character began to take shape.

Wow, that Werewolf story was random but fun, loved Harvey's use of a silver dollar. Was Annual #14 The Eye of the Beholder?

Yeah. Definitely one of the best Two-Face stories. Maybe my own personal favorite.
