Two-Part Batman: The Long Halloween Animated film possibly in the works?!

I actually quite like the designs for this, the bench mark is Year One, but even that still felt a little stiff.

I’ve had time to accept we’re not getting Tim Sale for this, to quote Stuart Ullman, “There’s no way to make it economically feasible”.

Still not a fan of the new style tbh. But maybe I'll get more used to it. I liked the ever present sound of the coin flipping throughout the trailer. Very ominous.

Yes, new style looks bland and cheap.

Decent cast att least.

I'm actually not a fan of the animation myself.

I'm not saying I wanted Sale's style, but I think a story like The Long Halloween lends itself to a much richer and stylized art deco animation style akin to the Superman Fleischer cartoons.

But I get it. That takes time and alot more money, and they may have wanted to go with a more modern look.

But the story itself seems so retro- 1930s and 1940s noir to me, that it screams a retro type of look imo in terms of its animation style at least. But that's just me.

That said, the voice cast is pretty good, and vocally at least, they seem to be nailing the characters.

The style is better than the old DCAU films (Hush was UGLY)

Looks pretty good to me. I like this art style, as it's pretty refreshing after being stuck in bland Bourassa land for too many years.

The art style looks weird. They took some design elements from the book, like Harvey Dent's design and the design of the Holiday Killer's gun and used 1940s cars that the book also used, but Batman and Catwoman and Joker's designs look generic as hell, like they could be placed in any other Batman animated movie and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They should've been more faithful to the Tim Sale art style. What is the point of adapting this comic if you aren't going to use the art style? That is half the reason the Long Halloween comic was so memorable. It has a very distinct art style. This movie replaced it with a more generic art style that could be used in any kind of Batman animated movie.

Looking forward to this, do I wish it had the Sale style? Sure. But this is still refreshing.

Art style is hit or miss. Joker looks pretty generic.

I don't know why they always seem to give the Joker the Uma Thurman look, i.e. tiny eyes that are spaced way too far apart. It always looks terrible.

I do wish this was aiming a little closer to Sale, but I’ll just take it as a win that they’re doing this now, during the current era, rather than seeing the story done with that sort of faux anime look they were doing for awhile.

I liked the 'faux anime' look they had going on with Flashpoint.

I share this sentiment. At least this look is more classically inspired than Batman: Hush. While I do miss Sale's look, you could do worse than a Matt Wagner-looking Year One- Batman.

The "faux anime" style wore out its welcome a while back imo. And the timm style they used in the Kung fu batman movie was so boring and stale. Imo.

This, exactly. The art style wasn't bad, it just eventually got a bit old. It was time for some type of a change up and this looks like a solid change to me.

Looking pretty good! Jensen sounds a lot better than I expected and I missed Troy's Joker.

I hadn't even noticed that particular style beyond its use in Flashpoint tbh.

I like the visuals but also i dont, it has its good and bad points.
Other than that i like the voice actors so far and it seems like it could be good.

Alur Amancio was the main character designer for Batman: Soul of the Dragon. I thought it worked pretty well.

I wasn't a fan, it fell flat for me. It felt like they were going for Timm but it still wasn't quite his style.

There's something about this that just looks...uninspired.

Also: if you're not gonna have Hamill voice Joker, don't make the guy you do get try his hardest to sound like him.

I like Troy Baker’s Joker.

1. Mark Hamill
2. Kevin Michael Richardson
3. John DiMaggio
4. Troy Baker

It’s too bad Kevin Michael Richardson never reprised the role after The Batman.

It's Troy Baker, he's about as close as you can get.
