Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

It seems like anyone in the MCU that happens to wear/don the color green seems to have Thor's number.lol

1. Thor gets (unintentionally) the lower end of the stick regarding exposure and compelling arcs when compared to the likes of Loki.

2. Thor (despite holding back) is thrown around by the Hulk, thus leading people to mistakenly assume that Thor can easily be beaten by the Hulk

3.
Vision ends up being the first non-asgardian to lift up thor's hammer

That confirmed or still coming from reddit?

Thor is gonna get is power-up moment in his own last film. I read that "Marvel" said that they are gonna take him to the next level and i am betting he gets some kind of an upgrade. Odinforce maybe!

I'm not an expert on these comics stuff btw!! hehe

One of the writers of Thor: Ragnarok said on Twitter that Thor would definitely be more powerful than in his previous movies. That can of course change in various ways since scripts change a lot, but it does sound promising.

I think that was confirmed from a legit source who saw that scene; the link to the video should be in the previous page.

Well that's really annoying. I'll reserve judgement but at first glance not happy.

Hell I have no problem with it. A new worthy character. Vision is going to be interesting. Because he hasn't been worthy in the comics, he can't be for the sake of this film? I personally have no problem with it

Maybe thats why Thor fights him hand to hand, if I understood Hemsworths interview on the set of the fight scene correctly.

I think it's more people want Cap to do it in IW and so to have two characters lifting it in a row takes away from both there moments and Thor.

Even Chris Hemsworth said:
"Yeah, I mean in this instance you see it’s hand-to-hand combat because [that becomes possible] if someone is of his equal strength or more so than him."

So i guess Vision will be super strong!

So let me get this straight
Cap actually nudges the hammer setting up anperfect time for him to be the first to wield it in the final battle. And they make Vision the first one to lift it?

********, complete and utter 100% ******** calling it right now.

That's Thors job these days, y'all should be used to it. Thor is "the" jobber. A seemingly powerful hero who gets hurt to show how big a threat is.

Not in general. Unworthy Thor beat the crap out of Apocalypse and the evil X-Men in the last comic event, AXIS, and was only stopped from killing them through being lured away from the battlefield. We don't know how any of his fights in AoU end either, and he has only come close to defeat at the hands of Kurse in the MCU.

New interview with Joss Whedon about the original run time for AOU (3 1/2 hours long!!) http://www.vulture.com/2015/04/how-age-of-ultron-nearly-broke-joss-whedon.html

Whedon’s first cut of Age of Ultron came in at nearly three and a half hours; eventually, he and Feige worked together to slice the film down to 142 minutes. “There's one or two things that I'm unhappy about not having in there, but they're small,” said Whedon. “I said to Kevin before we started, 'My secret fantasy that'll never come true is that the second one is shorter than the first.' And we're shorter by a minute.” The first Avengers film still weighs heavily on Whedon’s mind, though not for the reasons you might think. With rave reviews and a $1.5 billion worldwide gross, it was a success in almost every way imaginable and immediately established Whedon, until then best known for his TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, as an A-list feature filmmaker. It seemed like everyone loved the movie ... everyone, that is, except the director.

“When I watch it, I just see 'flaw, flaw, flaw, compromise, laziness, mistake,’” said Whedon. “The reason I set out to make another film is because I wanted to make one that was better, and I wanted to up my game as a shooter and work harder on every aspect of it and sort of give myself up to it in a way that's hard for me, because I have a family. I started as a writer in low-budget TV, and there was always this element of, ‘This is good enough.’ And with this movie, I never wanted to say, ‘This is good enough.’”

Though he gave his all to Age of Ultron, Whedon hasn’t been able to watch the final cut all the way through yet — “I tried,” said the typically hard-on-himself filmmaker, “and I had a terrible time” — but he’s heartened by the glowing reaction online from early press screenings. “Is it perfect? It is not,” said Whedon. “Is it me? It's so baldly, nakedly me. To do something that is as personal as this movie is — on that budget, for a studio that needs a summer tentpole — is an extraordinary privilege.”

So they actually filmed a film worthy of 3 and a half hours jesus, a lot of good stuff probably been cut. Hopefully we get a bunch of deleted scenes on the blu ray.

:wall: Are we next going to be shown that Vision is more powerful or at the very least an equal in every way to Thor, so no clear winner in the fight...Good grief by the time Infinity Wars rolls around Thor will be delegated to hiding behind the scarlet witches Skirt for protection.....
I hope I am wrong.
But just when I think Thor is safe we hear yet another instance of them weakening him or as another poster stated
..{ ****ing out his hammer}...

I won't mind Vision putting up a good impressive battle, but that battle should not end in a stalemate or with Thor losing. The battle should be what the iron man battle should have been. A quick tussle, but once Thor lets loose he is gonna wreck him. If Vision is somehow superior to Thor then lets send Vision to confront Surtur and deal with Ragnarok lol

So Vision can fly, alter his density, shoot lasers AND lift Mjolnir?

Well there's no point in keeping Thor around might as well permanently replace him lol.

This fight better not end in a stalemate. I'm sick of the "No avenger can beat another" policy. I don't know why Whedon has a problem with that. In the comics some Avengers are clearly more powerful than others and it's fineeeeee. Everyone has a role to play.

I really dont see how Thor can beat him if he can lift and swat away Mjolnir

Especially with his other powers as well.

Characters being clearly more powerful than others doesn't mean that they always have to win in a fight. Fighting is about more than just power. Besides, even fights are more interesting and more entertaining than one-sided fights... and yes, I know that winning a fight is not the same thing as it being one-sided, but still I'd prefer an even stalemate over either. The best reason to have one character win over the other is if it serves the plot. Like Black Widow beating Hawkeye to end his mind control. If there is a winner between Vision and Thor, I hope it's meaningful and logical, and not just a way to display how powerful one character is compared to the other.

So far, Thor hasn't really beaten any of his current (or future) teammates in a fight so it's not like it'd be an old gag for him to do so.

The MCU version of Thor is sadly in a position where other heroes are allowed to end in a stalemate with him (despite logic saying otherwise) in order to endow them with some form of credibility.

If you're gonna have every hero fight end in a stalemate what's the point of them fighting to begin with.
