Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

BigThor, rest assured that our pal Thor is shown as the most powerful avenger in the movie!

So for all who've seen the film?

How would compare Thor's action scenes to Thor 1, A1, TDW?

thor rocked and i liked his role/connection with vision. did not lose his identity among all the avengers

I keep hearing about Thor's connection to Vision, is it really that big?

Like do they share important conversations or something?

no long conversations, but a recognition and thor has an important role with Vision without giving anything away. I liked the parallels with vision and ultron too. Thor looked commanding in this film to me. he had swagger. enjoy

So I've been trying to stay away from spoiler-geddon for this movie, but I thought it would be judicious of me to spoil myself for some of the Thor stuff. ;)

From what I've read here, Thor fans will be pleased with how he is treated as a character as well as his awesome feats, and I'm really excited. I'm actually pretty glad I read the spoilers about
Vision
because I think I'll take that better without being blindsided by it.

I have one question, for those who have seen it:

What of Thor's side quest? Was that completely cut? In the trailers we see that shot of him in the cave, and that shot of him in Asgard. Do either of those make it in the final cut?

Thanks in advance! :thor:

[BLACKOUT]thor's stuff in the cave / Asgard was in it, whether the entirety of all that was shot, i dont know[/BLACKOUT]

Thor's side quest
Soon after the team sought refuge at Barton's farm, Thor was jolted with memories of Wanda's visions. Upon this, he tells Cap that he needs to revisit his visions and leaps out of set. Fast forward to another scene, we see a hoodie-cladded Thor staking out at some university Prof Selvig's teaching at, and together they visit IIRC an ancient cave (still on Earth though) where supposedly being bathed in the liquid enabled Thor to revisit those visions, this time with greater clarity and length.

Thor then encounters Heimdall at some party, with the latter sporting blank eyes and spouting some nonsense along the lines of "you are responsible for us being in hell" and IIRC Thor blasting lightning across the crowd and incinerating his fellow Asgardians. Thor's visions are frankly, all over the place, so pardon me if what I described here was actually glimpsed in his earlier jarred vision with Wanda rather than the longer one he experienced while in the ancient pool.

Cool, thanks. Clearly, [BLACKOUT]a set up for Ragnarok, then.[/BLACKOUT]

Thor was my fav in this film with Vision. So badass. Had a lot of funny lines too.

Don't read this IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED.

The shots of Asgard was a dream or a vision if you will as a result of Scarlet Witch getting in his head. There was Heimdall confronting him about Thor killing everyone there and the shot you're referring to about the cave was when Thor went to Oslo (i can't remember if he said Oslo or europe specifically) but he separated from the group after the Avengers dropped to a safehouse to look for the professor so he can enter the divine water to confront his own dream or fear or vision whatever you want to call it and as a result of that and a certain stone he gave the last boost needed to activate Vision which was so cool how all of that went down when Avengers split into 2 arguing wether to activate Vision or terminate him you had the science bros on one side and cap, the twins on the other side and then comes mr badass Thor doing the right thing in style haha.

I really hated how weak they made Thor look in the 1st one. But this one they finally did him right. Making him the most badass and possibly the strongest. Not to mention his one liners were all winners. The 1st one he was so uptight and banal but this one so badass and funny.

By Thor sharing an important role with Vision do you mean action wise?

I think he meant that Thor had an important hand in Vision coming to life. Of course, Thor also shared some exuberant fight scenes with Vision; my favourites were:

Thor, Iron Man and Vision firing their respective energy beams at Ultron together, melting his (vibranium?) chassis together and Thor distracting Ultron enough so that Vision could have the chance to swing Mjolnir at Ultron.

What happened when Thor choked Tony? Were the others in the room scared or worried? Did they try to stop him? Did tony seem scared?

When in doubt, confer with Cap :oldrazz:

Cap talked him out of it. Then we cut to the scene of Stark explaining his rationale for creating Ultron.

heres some thor spoilers for you guys if you wish
the scene Thor has his mind messed with is when he says fortunately I am mighty, then you see heimdall with white eyes choking thor and blaming him for the death of asgard. thor also plays apart In creating vision, as quicksilver unplug the machine tony is using to awaken vision so thor awakens him with electricity, then vision smashes out of the box and flies at thor and thor grabs him and throws him 30 feet across the room. he then explains how his vision had something to do with trusting the vision? in the final battle, when cap tries to save that red car by the bumper and it falls, well thor saves the lady in the car by throwing her back to cap like 100 feet up! then he catches the green car full of people and flies and lands it back on the bridge wit minimal effort. then finally when the city is blown up its a combined effort from tony and thor, tony charges the core then thor hits the drill with a massive strike which blows the city up! thor also has a hand in defeating ultron as he, vision and tony shot beams/electricity at him then hulk punches him like 50 feet. my one scene where I think thor was underpowered was 1 on 1 with ultron, I mean he just kneels there while ultron chokes him for at least 5 minutes of cut away shots until vision saves him? he looked as weak as captain America? not that cap is weak but relatively speaking

So apparently Chris Hemsworth has stated that he has THREE Marvel films left within his contract, meaning that he could very well appear in both installments for Infinity War OR in a fourth Thor film should they only want him for one part.

pretty sure CH said his contract was for a 3rd thor movie and the 2 part Avenger infinity film. wonder if would negotiate for a new contract or do Marvel get new actors after an appropriate gap

MAN I can't wait to see Thor in action!!! lol

Well, if Hems doesn't come back Ragnarok would be a perfect time to get the new Thor in there whether during or at the end

I'm really hoping one of you Thor nuts can help me out. I've been googling something and it brought me here.

I've just seen AoU, and I'm just about to record my thoughts on a podcast about it. But...this is driving me nuts. I have forgotten my favourite joke in the whole film, can anyone help me out? Hey, it was a packed film, loads to remember!

It is something Thor says really early on. I was still chuckling from it when...

Tony had his bit where he said "Please be a secret door...yay!" which made me laugh again. So it was during the raid on Strucker's castle.

Aaargh! Any ideas?
