Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

I wish there was more Thor in this film. Joss wanted the cave scene cut, thanks to his editors they convinced him to put that scene back in, of course not the whole scene. I'd like to see the whole sequence, and as to the significance of the wooden box Selvig was holding.

^ I'd like to see the whole scene too. I said earlier, I would like to see it edited together as a "Thor's Vision" one-shot to give it more legitimacy than just a deleted scene, although that is highly unlikely.

Suprisingly I was pleased with how much Thor was in the film. Even if he had less screentime than in TA he was far better utilized in AOU.

When he appeared he shined, he was quite the scene stealer whenever he interacted. Thor's writing was also sharper and more true to character not to mention his action scenes.

They've even showed that he can generate lightning without Mjolnir when he was in the cave.
I loved that they showed that (and when it happened in his initial 'dream/vision' as well) - that Mjolnir isn't required to bring the lighting

Agreed :woot:

I think Thor had the right amount of screen time. I never felt Ultron was more than a city level threat.Thor should be utilized more as the threat level rises. Yes he had a global level threat but anyone with a nuke can be a global level threat. When I mean global threat I mean the being itself poses that harm like Sentry. The avengers haven't faced that yet.

Malekith with the Aether was a global level threat by himself.

And Thor alone did just fine against him. :)

Wasn't Malekith with the Aether a cosmic threat? As in end the universe as we know and return it to darkness? I guess that meant extinguish all the stars.

A little bit over the top (destroying the entire universe is silly - the thing is unimaginably vast within our light cone alone, only numbers can make sense of it's scale). Not sure why Thanos would want to go along with something like that, if he was involved at all.

That would be cool. At the very least, I think Thor fans can expect some kind of explanation or recap of these events in Thor:Ragnarok. But in the scope of the events of Age of Ultron it did seem like it would have derailed the main story too much. I definitely want to see what happened with his quest but I believe it was the right call to cut it down like they did for this film.

Yes Malekith was a cosmic threat. But his plan wasn't silly. It would seem that the Aether was the Reality stone. He wasn't just destroying the universe - he was destroying what he considered a poisoned universe and remaking it into the one where they came from - i.e. altering reality itself. The Dark Elves predated this universe - before the Big Bang evidently. Malekith wanted to restore that universe where his people had thrived and all of his enemies would perish in the process. That was his end game.

Yes indeed a universal threat the biggest threat in the MCU so far.

Besides Thanos, but he hasn't official became a villian yet tho.

Malekith wanted to return the universe back to darkness, not to destroy it.

Still a universal threat, most of the universe would've been destroyed in the process.

Oh absolutely,I was responding to the post saying that He wanted to just destroy the universe.

I gotta say - this is possibly the most annoying complaint about the movie. It's really surprising to me the number of people who completely miss this plot point.

They seem to think Malekith wanted to destroy the universe simply because you know... bad guy.

Destroying the universe and starting the universe is effectively quite similar.

Yeah,I even remember Algrim talking about a Universe Reborn.

I assume the next Thor movie will be Thanos showing up to get the Teseract and killing Asguardians and Loki serving him, telling him where the Teseract is and where he can get the Aether. That will lead into Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with Thanos going after The Collector and then to Nova Prime for the other Infinity Stone. Somehow in these next two movies Thanos will also find the last two Infinity Stones.

As I've stated above, I wonder if Thanos will destroy Asgard with the help of Loki. Then Loki will realize what he has done; in that he was just a pawn for Thanos the whole time and turns himself around to save Asgard (his throne). That sounds just like Loki's self serving nobility!

I hope after the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie the characters will be leading into Infinity War so Drax can get his revenge on Thanos for killing his family. At the end of Age of Ultron,Thor had an urgency in bringing The Vision to life, maybe he'll draft the lead characters of Galaxy and the Nova Corps to help him with the Avengers, because at this point even Tony thinks iits hopeless; due to the vision he received from the future. So in the end through Thor's perseverance in recruiting galactic friends might help save the day! Also so Drax can get his revenge!

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes before Thor: Ragnarok.

Also if Ragnarok is just basically Thanos and Loki and not Surtur I'm going to be one unhappy Thor fan. I don't think Marvel will do this. Thanos will play a role no doubt but Surtur has to be in it.

I get that he wanted the lights go out because he thought the universe should never have been and wanted to return to a dark state. My complaint was that there approximately 100 billion galaxies in our light cone, so my ability to suspend disbelief was destroyed.

Now if instead Malekith wanted to extinguish the Earth's sun for some dark reason, then fine. But the entire universe? There is a line beyond which the plot becomes ridiculous.

Also, Malekith was a truly universal threat, but only Thor, Jane and friends were trying to stop him? Nobody else (powerful) in the entire cosmos cares?

he wanted to use an infinity stone to do it....so it's believable...

I hope Thor saves the day. He deserves more than 15 minutes of screen time.
