Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

Well it was nice to see Hems increased the ratings score for SNL over the previous week.
Hopefully he and Thor can become more popular!

Do you guys think Thor will ever become mainstream enough to be compared to the likes of Superman, Batman, Spiderman & Iron Man?

I've always wondered who enjoyed more mainstream popularity, Hulk or Thor? Before the start of the MCU, I'd say Hulk easily, but now? It's probably a lot closer (although it's not easy to gauge these things).

I don't know if he can be compared to Superman or Batman, but Marvel and Hemsworth have undoubtedly brought the character to levels of popularity way beyond pre-MCU. He used to be a character only real comic fans knew, and now he's a huge fan favorite. Hemsworth has risen with Thor's character and both are now household names. Hemsworth is a sex symbol and Thor is A-list in terms of popularity.

The MCU has definitely made Thor a mainstream superhero. Heck, even Iron Man was a B-list hero before RDJ and look at him now.

Yeah I don't know if Thor will ever be the Marquee character for Marvel
But he's definitely been elevated

somebody commented on it before, and I think it's worth reiterating:

Did anyone here- when you were 10 years old and reading comics, imagining a day when they'd make live action superhero movies- ever imagine in a million years that this would all become mainstream enough that Saturday Night Live would have a skit about Thor being interviewed after defeating Ultron?.. and that the audience would actually understand the reference??

its nutso

Yeah it's been an AMAZING 10 years in the way of Superheroes alone, but THOR went from next to nothing to all kinds of media, Merch and books! :more:

Uh does Thor have some suped up Tessseract powered Mjolnir? Ive never seen the thing shoot Blue light like that. Its def not lightning.

Well first Mjolnir has many powers beyond lightning in the comics, however in this case, it is clearly just Mjolnir on Vibranium action

:pcg:A thing of beauty, Thor and Cap fighting side by side...

It's kind of weird and funny when I think about on how...we have Thor and Cap, two characters that arguably have more in common with each other than with any other member of their current group (morals, ideals, etc). And they just so happen to be played by two actors that are both named "Chris", where they both have blonde hair as well in the film. Not to mention that they both wear the color combination of "Red, Blue, and Silver" on their outfits while being known as the two avengers with iconic signature weapons at their disposal.lol

Thor has risen in popularity a lot, but I'd still say Hulk. He's been popular for a long time. Even before this whole comic book movie boom.

Given on how I've seen some people being protective of what Cap should be shown capable of doing in "AOU", out of curiosity, are there Thor fans out there that are worried about his powers and durability is going to be handled in this film? What are things that you guys feel should be able to phase/hurt him in this film when considering the levels of villains that they're facing? (Hydra, Ultron, Twins, and Vision) What are things that you guys see being as reasonable enough where Thor should be shown getting hurt/nearly killed even from?

The only thing I want to see hurt Thor badly or nearly kill him is Ultron. But Vision should definitely be able to hurt him a bit, I don't know about the drones.

I wish he'd wear his Thor hat more often.

Yeah, you would think the "crown" would be used at least once while in the presence of Odin on Asgard during Dark World

I love how the background people are just running along. If a God and Captain America were standing in front of me, I'd stop and look.
lol I would too, come to think of it lol

It's annoying that there's this 'need' to see the actors' full faces all the time. Filmmakers and actors could learn a lot from Dredd and Karl Urban.

With Thor I think it's more about that the helm doesn't work as well in live action as it does in the comics. Not only visually but also practically. It's covering his face less than Cap's cowl so that is most likely not the reason.

It looked great from what we saw of it in Thor. I actually think he looks more out of place without it.
