Dammit, went to Target to take advantage of their Buy 2 Get 1 free game deal this week, and both this and Arkham City were sold out!

Damn all you and your discussions of how great the game is. Im still at Ch 12. I need to freaking finish this thing.

I know this word has been used a lot to the point where it no longer has the same meaning, but I felt an "epic" vibe from this game. I've been listening to the score that plays during the credits and I feel like it really captures the essence of a game that has managed to raise the stakes during its third time around in so many ways. This is definitely my vote for GOTY.

But I'm curious, did Naughty Dog ever say this was a trilogy because I came across a bunch of articles on google that claim that this is a trilogy, but I don't remember ND ever saying that.

I dont think they have, in fact i think they have stated that it was NEVER intended as a trilogy.

Im up to ch 12 so far and while I'm loving it, i just dont have that same 'wow' factor that i did with two. Right now, Batman is still my goty with Skyrim left to try and take its crown. Unless the next chapters of this game really punch me in the face with awesome, then it could jump right in to that number 1 spot.

I really hope Gamefly sends me Skyrim because I am very eager to find out what all of the hype is about that. As for Arkham City, I really liked it, but I felt a little disappointed by it because I was sort of expecting more. With all the side missions and stuff, I was expecting to spend a good chunk of time with it, but I feel let down with how easy it was to get 100% on the story. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't really leave me excited by the end. But as usual with Uncharted, I feel like I went on this big adventure with these characters and its left more of a lasting impact and impression on me than AC did.

So for the people who have beaten it is this GOTY worthy? Or is there another game that should get it?

I just finished it. It's excellent. Definitely Game of the Year worthy. Between Uncharted, Arkham City, Portal 2, Gears and probably Skyrim and Skyward Sword, I have no idea which to choose as the "best". They all deserve recognition!

I dont know how on earth you were expecting more from AC. I could see that argument with Asylum, but not City.

Skyrim is going to be epic in so many damn ways.

Between Batman, Uncharted and Skyrim, its been a helluva few weeks.

I guess I just felt the scope of the city as a whole was going to be bigger. I mean I love the gliding and the look of the city and everything. But I was just expecting something more than what we got. Like for all the characters that were thrown in there, I feel like some didn't really get as much of a spotlight as I expected. I'll still rate the game as a solid 9.5, but just like Infamous 2, which was another great game, I was left a little disappointed at how quickly it all went.

And I really don't even know what Skyrim is about, yet it sounds like the type of time consuming game that I would like. But right now, the only other game that's on my radar is Assassin's Creed Revelation. Though I'm not expecting that to top any of the more recent games to be released. It will be fun and the story will be engaging, but I'm not expecting to be blown away by it.

So I just beat the game, amazing amazing amazing game, lost count of how many times my jaw dropped, I'd still give U2 a slight edge tho

Spidey, I kinda agree with you about Arkham City... I mean, it was my favourite genre of game, I LOVE open world games and I'm a huge superhero and comic fan, but I found I burnt myself out on Arkham City quicker than I have on other open world games like Red Dead or the Assassins Creed games. I mean, I still loved Arkham City, but I'm gonna have to give it a while before I go back to it and having done all the riddles and side missions already it's just story for me to enjoy again anyway. I don't know why, but I don't get the same rush just mucking around as Batman as I still do as Ezio or as I did just roaming the countryside as John Marston. I think it suffers a little bit from what Arkham Asylum did, where, whilst the environment was beautifully detailed, it felt a little empty for me. Obviously, it made sense regarding the context, but it just didn't immerse me in that location as much. I think it was just the dilapidated nature of the whole thing, because I felt the same way about all the ruins in Assassins Creed Brotherhood, it just makes those areas feel dead rather than an area brimming with life.

While Uncharted 3 is definitely my pick for GOTY, I'd be happy if Batman, Dead Space 2 or Dark Souls got it instead.

In the second game, Chloe jumping into Drake's arms and wrapping her legs around him was improv'ed :D .

I think the thing to remember is that Arkham City is not really an open world game. The comparison has been made that its Zelda like in that the city itself serves more as a hub to the various actual locations rather than being the primary location itself that I think holds up when you look at how the game is actually laid out.

Im gonna stop playing until tomorrow night or Saturday, at least the campaign portion. Ive only been able to play an hour here, half hour there bc of my schedule and those breaks are takign away from the experience so Im not going to touch it until I can play in an extended period of time. I will be playing multiplayer though. Just got to level 25 yesterday

Its the closest thing to an open world Batman game and more so than AA. I think that label for the game is valid

Perhaps but the function and the role of the city is clearly different from I would say a fundamental level than how Assassin's Creed or Red Dead use their open worlds.

Definitely. Arkham City is not exactly an open world, and I guess I was kind of expecting it to be more like one. But like Wolvie said, my main gripe is the same as it was with Arkham Asylum in that after the campaign is done and the side stuff too, there is nothing else going on, although at least this time they left thugs to fight. But I too got burnt out really quickly and I'm waiting a couple of weeks before I go back and do the New Game Plus.

It was definitely a fun Batman experience, but I think overall, I got more immersed into the story and game with Uncharted 3. And even though I don't like level-based linear games as much, it still gets my number 1 vote. AC gets my second.

But speaking about Uncharted, a little question about the ending for those who finished it.
So that ring implies that Nate and Elena are actually married instead of just engaged, right? I heard someone point out that men don't wear engagement rings, so they must be married already.

And if that's the case, and Drake decides to give up fortune hunting, what are the odds that we'll see an Indiana Jones type of return for a possible sequel. Meaning, we don't see Drake again until he's older with a kid or two and he is forced back into the job. Because honestly I don't see them doing a fourth one in two years from now. Maybe not even for a long time.

I hope you have some ice packs ready, because your face is going to be hurtin. :woot:

The scene where Drake [BLACKOUT]gets drugged and[/BLACKOUT] runs through the city was awesome. It was the first instance in any game where it made me say "Damn, I wish I had a 3D TV!"

Beat the game in a day. Great, amazing game. Gonna run through the games again.

I loved the part where you play a young Nate. They should use that concept for the PS Vita games. Him growing up with Sully. I think that'd be interesting to see.

I agree. And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that is the direction they go to for the next game they make.
