Underrated Creative Powers / Characters

Origin-wise, maybe. But, the Onslaught crossover was much better then whatever lame alternate future any of the Apocalypse crossovers dealt with.

Which heroes are vastly underrated, underused or underhyped?

I'm talking about the creative types, the less obvious powers that would still be extremely useful.

For example:

Karnak: For me this guy has one of the most brilliant abilities in the MU. He can see the weak point in ANYTHING. Why is he not used more often? Could he have ended Planet Hulk by now? Would he not be great as part of an Avengers team? The variable nature (physical, mental etc) of his power is immense and could create some really good stories.

Does anyone agree? Any other suggestions? Are there any simpler powers that could be used in different, more creative ways?

Good post, Karnak could do with some more life, as he is a brilliant character in terms of power etc, however possibly too powerful, you put him with someone like Iron man who could exploit knowing wekanesses, and every story would end in one issue.

I prefer it if he can see weakpoints, but doesn't necessarily have the means to exploit them.

Despite the obvious physical cracks, I think it would be great to see him exploit character or emotional weaknesses. A scathing comment here or there could go a long way, and create some great dialogue.

Hank Pym. Either as YellowJacket or Ant-Man.

Think about it; Nearly too small to be seen, yet able to transmute matter to still have the strength and weight of a 180 lb. man if he so chooses...the ability to summon and control literally millions of red ants or wasps....

I always refer skeptics to Avengers #161 to see Hank clobber a full roster of Avengers.

He could conceivabley shrink down, and one by one enter the ears of the Hulk and each of his warbound, and quite literally use his bio stings to blow their brains out.

But then, we wouldnt have a best selling mini series now, would we? :word: :cwink:

Hank is pretty mishandled. When in doubt, he always tends to grow bigger. He should adopt Ray Palmer's methods and go smaller instead. Ray took down Darkseid that way. :)

Yeah, but that's Ray f**king Palmer. Hank could never hope to be that badass.

Well said.

Hank needs to be picked up,.. cleaned off, and given a purpose. Then make him a hero again.

I still say he's never gonna be taken seriously until he dumps the yellow jacket persona and just become Dr. Pym again.

Dr. Pym can't run around in a costume, though. That would be even lamer then his current Yellowjacket persona.

Doesn't need one. What he had on in that recent mini he was in was pretty good. Or something similar to what he died in during the Earth X series was pretty versatile. Or course every time I'd see it, I'd think of him getting stabbed by the Washington Monument. Best.Giant.Guy.Death.EVER!

Anything's better than his Yellowjacket costume. I don't even like plainclothes superheroes, but I'd take that over the Yellowjacket costume.

Avengers Forever. Why does this always seem to get brought up, anyway?

Not in Avengers Forever. Well, technically, I guess he is. But he's not the Hank Pym that I'm referring to.

Unless that is the Hank Pym we're talking about and his old Yellowjacket persona is reasserting itself. It'd be a copout, but at least it'd allow Hank to not suck so much anymore.

At least I'll always have the issue of A: TI to remind me that Pym's a hero. :(
