Oh. Me too...

I'm kind of obsessed, actually.

It isn't overrated, but it isn't underrated either. And that's why it is in a "bleh" category for me

Because it deserves a 35% :whatever:

It also got an average rating of 5.9/10, whereas I would give it a 3/10. So in other words, I think critics overrated it.

I think you have to go back all the way to Ghost Rider 2 to find a comic book film worse than TASM2.

Sad state of affairs when a Spidey movie has sunk into a rotten rating. Even though it deserves it.

I don't think it did deserve it. Each to their own. Can't wait to see this movie again on blu ray.

Indeed. I think it deserves worse, especially when you consider how several of the reviews, both positive and negative, were worded. Many of the critics who enjoyed the movie still couldn't stop themselves from laying into it.

I'm really curious to see what Webb & Co. do with the next installment (although I probably won't be throwing my money their way). No more Emma Stone means that they can't rest on that cutesy cliche any longer, so where will they really go from here? Every facet of Peter's life outside of Gwen has been relegated to lines of dialogue thus far, so for me, it might be very hard to get engrossed in his personal life after being denied it for the past few years.

I can't for the life of me see how some would think this movie was worse than Ghost Rider. There is a reason TASM2 is at 7.4 on IMDB and Ghost Rider is at 5.2.

Some people on here severally hate on this film and they are in the minority of general audience opinion. The fact is, this movie is at 71% favorable on Rotten Tomatoes while SM3 is at 51%.

SM3 is the only Spider-man film that has gotten rotten from the AUDIENCE. Everyone I know in real life enjoyed this movie. Some more than others. People on here act like the film is an abomination. I can't see how this is possible unless you actually want to dislike the movie, or you are heavily influenced towards the most negative parts of reviews and now have an agenda against the movie, because there was 1 or 2 things that rubbed you the wrong way.

The movie is really not bad, most critics rated it lower because they thought the movie was part of an unnecessary reboot.

I didn't say it was worse than Ghost Rider. I said it was worse than any comic book movie SINCE the second Ghost Rider.

Ah OK, I misread that. Still only 6.5% of IMDB users rated this below a 5/10, so the vast majority of people thought this was OK to Good. If you look at most thumbs up / thumbs down on trailers on youtube, you will see this ratio of positive to negative votes. So it's almost like the people who disliked the idea of the movie to begin with is the same ratio of people who rated it low. I know this isn't all people, and some fans who are ok with reboot of the franchise really didn't like it, but those are very few and far in between.

For someone who throws out accusations of having an agenda, you sure do seem to have one yourself. In a nutshell, all you've managed to say is that nobody has any good reasons for disliking this movie, and that it's good; whomsoever disputes that has an agenda. For as much as some of you like to preach about respecting opinions, this type of ranting runs completely contrary to that.

I see this sort of prattling from the more defensive fans all the time, and I've gotta say, I fail to understand how some of you folks don't incur infractions for saying what more or less amounts to 'your negative opinion is senseless'. In comparison, I hardly see the more critical fans saying things like

"you only liked this movie because you have an agenda"
"I can't see how it's possible that you liked this"
"you actually wanted to like this movie" (don't we all? Honestly, who pays money and wastes time to see something that they want to hate?)
"Fans only rated it highly because they thought a reboot was necessary"

Some of your choice quotes turned on their proverbial heads. Imagine the sort of firestorm there would be in here if more people took that sort of attitude. Pretty disrespectful, no? That's all I hear when I see people saying that they can't understand the 'haters' and my personal favorite 'f the critics/haters.' Can't recall the last time someone said 'f the fans of this movie', but apparently that's just me.

Glad you liked it, but your perspective isn't the only one out there.

Amen.

1) I posted facts about audience ratings to show that not everyone hates this movie.
2) I said that the people who rate this overly low and say that it is an abomination of a movie sound like they have an agenda against it.
3) If you don't think people exist who say f' the fans of this movie, you should see the IMDB forum.

Other than that, I think you read into my post as more of a rant than it was. These internet boards tend to be a little extreme in opinion because they are people who are fans of the films. Those who liked them have an agenda to see them continued, and those who didn't have an agenda to see them discontinued.

As for the general audience, they don't have these agendas so they are less likely to bash or praise the film in one extreme or the other.

Also, I never said no one has a good reason for disliking this movie. You should reread my post a bit more carefully before putting words in my mouth. Also, flipping my words around sounds a bit silly because the goal of movies is to be good, not bad. So saying things like "you actually wanted to like this movie" isn't really an odd thing for people to want. It is odd for people to want to dislike something, and I know there are people who are out there who do, who have an agenda against the reboot. Again, I'm not saying this is everybody, or that there is no good reason to dislike this film.

Totally over rated! This movie deserved 10%!

He didn't even mention ooncle Ben once guys!

In all seriousness, the heart the film carries and the chemistry/acting between the leads should at least propel the film another 10%, should be low fresh at worse, probably deserves to be around TASM on RT scores.

1) And? Doesn't that go without saying? Not everybody hates Ghost Rider, either. *shrugs*

2) And how exactly is someone supposed to defend themselves against such an accusation? What's the criteria for someone having a supposed agenda against this movie? Here's a better question - how are you in any way better than the people you accuse? Again, if you turn your own rhetoric on its head, how open-minded does it sound? You display a pretty staggering lack of empathy for someone who's trying to point out the ulterior motives of others.

3) Perhaps I should have been more clear, but I wasn't talking about that cesspool. Either way, it's fairly obvious that either trolls or petulant children are predominantly the ones who believe that sort of thing. I don't think that many level headed people, especially here, would ever seriously insinuate as much, and that's my point. Often times, fans who are more critical of these properties usually limit their criticism to the property itself (and the people involved in/responsible for it, of course). Defensive fans, on the other hand, won't just settle for praising their favorites, but do and say everything they can to discredit and misrepresent the positions of the detractors. You yourself are guilty of this, since for the life of you, you can't imagine someone disliking this movie intensely without having an ax to grind. Call me crazy, but that doesn't sound very fair to me. There's more than enough room at this table for all of us.

And believe me, I read your post carefully, and it did indeed come across as a bitter rant to me. You more or less said everything you could to silence or trivialize those with a negative opinion about the movie, pulling out all the stops from "All my friends/IMDB/audiences liked it" to "you only hate this movie because you wanted to hate it". Very intolerant, to say the least.

Isn't the audience rating and RT rating for Ghost rider lower than TASM2 though?

I'm sure it is, but what does that have to do with anything?
