Uuhh uuuhh uuhhh! (zombie talk for...THE OFFICIAL 'DEAD RISING' THREAD!!)

Ok even though my x box 360 is more or less dead, I've gotten through most of the cases. Since I am getting it replaced for free this week, I thought it might be time to gather some intell.

First, the collecting the bombs mission...I am on this now, and Im kinda intimdated since all game guides seem to say its by far the hardest part of the game. Is there an easy way, or any helpful hints and tricks to do it?

secondly, how do i unlock the special forces suit?

and finally, after I finish the initial four days, if I killed pyscopaths like cletus and other store owners will the respawn if i restart with all my saved stats or stay dead so i can rob the stores blind without risiking life and limb?

Get a few katanas before you got down into the tunnels. Take the motorcycle down the ramp and go left, and keep turning left until you get to a dead end. Get out, get the bomb in the truck, if Carlito comes in his truck, dodge his grenades and run up to the driver's side window and keep hammering him with the katana. He'll eventually leave, so you want to get in the truck that doesn't have flat tires and drive to the next bomb. If you see Carlito in his truck, ram him at full speed, it could kill him. I only advise ramming him once or twice, because you don't want your truck to break down in a bad spot. If you ram him and he gets stuck, get out of the truck and keep hitting him with the katana. He'll eventually die, and you can continue getting the bombs. If you don't get to ram him, just go to the next bomb location, and when he arrives, hit him with the katana. If your truck breaks down, there's a sedan in the southern most dead end on the east side. Once you get rid of Carlito, it should be cake.

For the special forces suit, you need to unlock overtime mode and destroy one of the spec ops helicopters. You probably won't be able to accomplish this until you get the real megablaster.

When you start a new game, all of the psychos and scoops respawn.

Augh. I know you have to kill 53, 594 zombies to get the Real Mega Blaster... but there's not enough time in the game! I killed 4000 zombies in 12 hours. Using math in my head, at that rate won't I only get about 24,000 kills before the game ends? I'm using cars, it seems the fastest way to kill them, but according to the rate it goes I'm not even halfway there! Any tips?

Infinite mode friend. Unlock that and you have the time.:cwink:

Infinity mode kinda sucks. I felt the same way as you though , that I wouldnt have enough time, but I did, with 10 hours to spare. But it gets real boring, but what you have to do is mow down zombies for hours in the maintenance tunnels. I just did it and got the mega buster. by the way can that take down a helicopter, and how many shots would it take?

I still haven't found where you pick-up the achievement bonus stuff.

It only takes one really good shot to take it down. I used the special forces gun. You just need to hit either the cockpit window or the tail blade. You get the special forces outfit for doing so.

That's either because
A- You don't know how to turn a corner. The opposite side of the room with the ventilation shaft, the side with no otis, the unlocked stuff is in brown paper bags.
B- You got the achievment, but didn't finish the game. You need to get an achievment AND get an ending in the same game in order to unlock the items. If you don't, you need to get the achievment again and finish.

See this is killing me...the mega blaster, which I thought would take it down no problem, is way too slow. I have gone through about four or five special forces rifles and it still doesn't go down. And the only place I can shoot from is the top of the picnic area, because the zombies try to eat me if Im on the floor.

I really want that outfit :(

The best path is
-Get the car, go down into the tunnels
-Turn right, then left, then right. You will be at a dead end with a door (inside is the maintance key, fyi)
-Turn around and make a left out of the dead end, there will be a newly generated MOB of zombies, ram through them till you reach the end of the path then turn around and repeat (Go into the dead end)
-Leave the dead end this time going right, plow through another mob, then turn right.
-Follow this around till you come to an end with another car. Get in and go back the way you came (Folllow road around, then make a left)
-Do the dead end trick again to spawn another mob.
-Turn right out of the dead end, then another right.
-Follow this all the way around till you reach another end with 2 trucks, plow through the mob of zombies till your car dies. Get into the truck facing away from the wall (The one facing the wall does not work)
-Drive back down the tunnel and follow this until your reach a wall, hit as many zombies as possible
-turn around and follow it back the way you came. Use the map to figure out which turn is the exit. Leave the tunnel.
-Plow through the zombies in the parking lot until your truck dies. Get in the car and repeat the entire thing.

This gets you atleast 1,000 zombies per go down. It takes awhile, but it's very doable. Be sure to stop often and save, it's been known to freeze doing all this up and down.

Wait to shoot it until it's flying over your head and shooting at you. Just aim for the tail blade. You can try the sniper rifle too.

Thanks man... I did it, and then got myself captured. But when I restarted, it's not in the security room :( do I have to go back and shoot the copter again? Or finish overtime? I know I got the achievement, the uniform just wasn't unlocked....

You need to finish the game after you get the achievment. Yes you need to shoot it down again and beat the game. I do not think getting captured and zombifiing counts as an ending, so you need to beat Brock.

w00t, thanks, I'll try that. How long does this take to do?

Thanks man. I restarted, and I think I did it- you can't actually blow it up can you? Just repell it? Because I shot it, and the blue bar at the bottom said ''achievement unlocked'' even though the plane didn't go down....

Your damn good at this game aren't you? :)

Thanks for the help

I was left with like 10 in game hours. But i didn't start the good route for awhile. REMEMBER TO GET AN ENDING after you do it. Just wander around till the time is up.

What was your favourite ending guys?

I thought the true ending was kinda lame...

I like the one where you don't follow up on the cases, and you escape, but Carlito puts his plan into action and zombie outbreaks happen across the US. Very Romero-esque and that would be a perfect lead in to a sequel.

I still don't get how zombies came from trying to breed cattle though, and Frank is still infected. so either capcom are having its usual plot holes (even though this one was really well done) or this is going to be expanded on in a sequel.

Ok, I don't if this has been asked or stated, but is there anyway to get that tiny as font to be bigger? The text boxes for the civilians are so small, and by the time I can figure out what they say, it moves on to the next part of speech.

On my TV, the font isn't as big as it is in this picture.

Now, I don't have HD so this might be the reason, but has anyone else noticed this or even better, fixed it?

There's been talk of a patch of somekind, but that's it. Upgrading your TV might help.

Despite it being small, I found my eyes adjusted fairly well to it over time. And most word 'bubbles' are useless anyway, it's all the same mission. The only way to even remotely adjust the letter size is to go to the Xbox360 Dashboard options and set screen type to Widescreen. This will force the image to fill the tv screen instead of having the bars on the top and bottom. This makes the text more legible, but the game has a vertical distortion to it.

By upgrading, you mean HD? I wish...if only I had that kind of money. :p

I'm in the same boat as you. I can barely make out certain text bubbles. :( You might want to try Geo's suggestion though.

Will do. Thanks!

I just started so I just did my first escort, and then I went down the elevator, tried getting the sledge hammer on the top shelf of the storage room, but fell and lost health, so I went back up to the room with the apples and coffee creamer in it, stocked up on those, and went back to the elevator...it was filled with zombies. I almost **** myself. So I restarted the level, since I died and continued the game. I couldn't find a save point. Once I got to the level where those people are trying to run you over, I died and now have to restart from the storage room.

Every bathroom is a save point. They are on the map.
