Venom now has a stand alone film, according to the studio.

Your just one of those people out there who think they can tell people what to do. Most people are arrogant when they think they got something other people want or can't have. You, however, have nothing to say but disrespectful stuff like "because I said so". Your a baby with harsh words. Why can't you explain what you said about Wolverine being bad. I mean you do have all those connections, right? This all would have been resolved if you would have just said and not have tried to be dominant. There is no intimidation in a online forum.

Venom is worthy of getting a film faithful to the comics and needs another chance to be done right. Hollywood is filled with people. Sony just needs to find one who has a story to tell with the character. It could work.

No offense, Turtle-Man, but I’m not fond of the idea of using Shocker in a Venom film.

Me neither.

Is it just me or does Venom only exist as the ultimate foil to Spider-Man? I mean Venom is what Peter could have let himself become. A extreme mirror image of what he could have let the symbiote do to him. Spidey fights Venom as a way of fighting the demon he almost became. To do a Venom film without Spidey seems impossible. I mean, I am sure Sony can make the movie but I don't see any way of it being a movie comic book fans respect. Spidey needs Venom, Venom needs Spidey for a Venom movie to exist.

If Carnage is the villain, Venom would have to be the hero, despite what happened in Spider-Man 3. Honestly, it could be much better than Spider-Man 3.

look at Venom Lethal Protector. It was able to work. If they do a movie like that then I wouldn't mind

Whoever they get has to be very good. Venom is an easy character to screw up.

They could get Walter Hill.

Maybe Joss Whedon could write it?

He's a screenwriter. He directed and wrote Mean Creek.

It's a movie about friendship and revenge along with the consequences that you face when you do something. You should definitely rent it.

Venom can warrant a film as long as it’s done right and could be great if they continue from where Spider-Man 3 left off. They can keep the character of Eddie Brock the same, but will have to make him trying to not allow the symbiote to change him from who he really is. The symbiote could influence Eddie to make choices. The movie should be about Eddie’s struggle to co-exist with the symbiote. If Carnage is the villain, Eddie would be responsible. Seeing Carnage murder people would make Eddie look within himself and need to overcome his own darkness in order to destroy what he’s unleashed in Carnage, so that could tie into his motivations as well…so many possibilities.

There are many ways that this could go wrong, but here are some things that will have to be:

- Venom’s origin remains intact. Have Eddie wake up in a hospital bed as his memory slowly comes back. If it’s not Eddie, it shouldn’t be made and will fail. Please for the love of God, I don’t want to see a forty year old Eddie Brock Sr. moaning about the death of his son and would be upset if they went with this storyline that seems to be popping up occasionally. It’s stupid and terrible.

- Venom has to be mean. I don’t want to see people being knocked out. I want to see Venom choking people. All Sony has to do here is know how to handle the character. Make Venom bad, but Carnage worse. Venom won’t seem so bad when you see what Carnage does, if he’s given depth similar to The Dark Knight’s Joker. Have a story for Carnage and make him interesting.

- Topher Grace and Cillian Murphy. Personally, I’d love to see Topher return. We need someone who can pull off playing Eddie and has skill. He may not be ideal, but what do you want? An actor like Topher or some behemoth who can’t act? Cillian said that he would play no other villain since he’s already played Scarecrow, but he would make a great Carnage.

- Drop the web and those patterns from Spider-Man 3. Is it really too difficult? If they need to add more detail, make the symbiote look more like skin with veins popping everywhere. Anything that makes it look less like a costume.

Yeah but he declined the offer.

Well according to Yahoo, he just completed the script, but Marvel is now considering going in a different direction from his script. Do you know what you're talking about?

It's okay. I started to think you read some false news, mate.

They should use Carnage or Morbius as the 'villain'. They don't have to quite portray him as a hero.. If they use Carnage for example, then there wouldn't necessarily need to be a 'good and bad', it could just be a simple case of them wanting to kill each other..

If they did Morbius they could borrow from Spiderman TAS, where he gets the sample of Petes blood but instead Morbius messes about with Venoms blood to try and cure himself, turning himself into a vampire and so through out the film he tries to go after Venom because he is drawn to his blood (it would make him stronger than a normal persons blood) and Venom, who preys on normal people himself, becomes a bit of a 'reluctant hero' in defeating Morbius, maybe Morbius kidnaps his wife or something..

I hate when people say what I was planning on typing.:csad::cwink:

Venom can have a stand alone comic, but a movie wouldn't work yet. The character wasn't established enough to exist alone. Accordin to SM3, Venom needs it's hatred for Peter to even have a meaning.

All of Venom's solo comics are lame. This shows he is nothing without Spider-Man. This spin-off is going to bomb. But, I guess Sony has to learn the hard way like FOX did with Elektra.

I found a new article:

splashpage.mtv.com said:
"I think Venom could headline a movie on his own, but it would be tricky and depend in part on the script," Venom's creator David Michelinie told MTV News.

Giving the film a heart will be one of the factors toward a film, said author Peter David. "The trick is making sure that there's a character for the audience to indentify with," he said.

If the film does move forward, one thing is clear. As the first movie with a supervillain as its star, fans will expect a certain tone, and it's not sunshine and flowers. "It'd be cool if they made it the darkest and most disturbing movie to date," mused writer Peter Milligan. "But that won't happen."
