Vince Doesn't See Money in the Wrestling Thread

While the popular idea would be to do Sting vs Taker at WrestleMania 30 I think it would be too soon because he can only sign in January. He's not going to debut and then lose his first match IMO.

Honestly the thing I care about the most is the 3 Disc set on his career with full documentary and all his top WCW matches, as in truth I think the needle is virtually on empty in the ring, either that or he phones in 90% of his matches these days.

That's the reason I want Kurt back in the WWE.

Regardless of how I feel about the whole Sting to WWE thing at this point in time, I think it's safe to say I'd mark the out big time if he debuted by dropping in from the rafters with possibly somebody like the Shield or the Wyatts heeling it up and causing destruction and carnage in the ring, lol.

I wonder if Sting protecting his name and persona is one of the reasons he didn't want to go to WWE, along with trusting their creative team.

I can see a WWE Hall of Fame and DVD collection for Sting if he were to jump ship.

Since Sting can no longer go for the TNA World title, I also wonder if that is a sign of him leaving TNA after his current deal expires.

oh man, look at that look Layla is giving Kaitlyn.

I want Sting in the WWE for the merchandise. A 3 disc bluray set, a classics figure...endless tshirts.

Make it happen.

I'd also love to see him have a match against Taker and Punk..then finish his career witha HoF induction and maybe stay on air as an authority figure or maybe announcer.

Oh definitely. If Sting had a bit more of the athletic ability he once had then Cena vs Sting would be mind blowingly awesome. It would be like if Sting were facing himself.

Of course, if the WWE had balls to book an unstoppable and tyrannical heel Cena, then Sting debuting close to WMXXX would be his penance.

HEEL CENA: I've beaten Punk! I've beaten Bryan! I've beaten Sheamus! There's nobody left for you losers to send after me!

Cue music:

But we know that would be too awesome for the WWE to think about.

I just marked out.

I'd take Sting in the WWE even if it's just a GM type role.

I'd want Sting in WWE just for the box set and HoF induction.

As for matches, I don't think the Taker one would live up to expectations but it would have a great big match feel. The stare-down would be epic, though. Cena vs Sting could be cool, too. I believe the Stinger has a few good matches left him, but make no mistake one of his matches should he come to WWE, would be jobbing to the King of Noses.

I also hate that the majority of today's wrestling fans probably only know "Crow" Sting as opposed to the 80s/early-mid 90s Stinger.

From what I've seen of Surfer Sting, I've never been completely sold. He had an intensity and an awesome look but his promos came across as very one note and flat. He'd say a lot without actually anything if you know what I mean.

Report: Sting Potentially WWE Bound in 2014

By Colin I. McAndrew(Featured Columnist)

on July 2, 2013

As we all saw during Monday night’s Raw, the WWE was doing title retrospectives for both the World and WWE strap.

During those vignettes, the company selectively picked stars to represent moments in time for each belt. One of those featured champions was former WCW star and current TNA mainstay Sting. This move was apparently premeditated, as it's being reported that the WWE is confident that the Stinger will be on its roster.

According to WrestlingInc.com:

If this finally comes to fruition, one has to wonder if it’s too little too late for the aging star. Don’t get me wrong, Sting has more than proven that he has plenty left in the tank. However, the Undertaker-Sting “dream match” has some serious potential of being a letdown.

The fact is this match should have happened over ten years ago, but for some reason Sting was not ready for the WWE. Personally, I feel like he takes pride in being labeled as the best wrestler to never wrestle for the largest company in the world.

That being said, he is also very protective of the Sting persona and has been adamant that he is not treated like some unknown newbie. Obviously, too many people know who Sting is, so it’s highly unlikely that will happen at this point in his career.

Overall, the biggest benefit for both sides is going to be on the merchandising and DVD end. Even though TNA released a Sting documentary DVD a few years ago, it will pale in comparison to what the WWE’s production company will be able to do. Especially considering, the WWE holds the rights to all WCW properties and can properly pay homage to his career with that footage.

In the end, this is purely speculation as Sting still has four or five months left on his current TNA deal. So any moves will have to wait until January when his deal expires, and even then we will still have to wait until March before he hits WWE TV.

============================================

dear god please let that be true.

the debut is so easy a normal raw finishes with the camera panning up to see the classic white faced sting standing in the rafters

as for merch yeah the dvd and hof fame would be great but come one sting for wwe 2k14 dlc

That's how a lot of people were in the 80s and early 90s. Hell, even in the Attitude Era and beyond, The Rock pretty much cut the same promo every time he was on the mic, every few months adding in a new joke or catch phrase.

I know this won't happen, BUT... it would be great if his TNA contract was up a little sooner, and then, with no build-up or hints, it gets to #30 in the Royal Rumble and his music hits. Sting hits the ring and makes a good little run with whoever is left, maybe making it to the final 3-4.

That would be a great way for him to debut and would be the perfect set up for a Wrestlemania match.

Is it that time of the year again? could have sworn the ''Sting possibly signing with wwe'' rumour normally spread around November/Dec?

I know where you're coming from, I thought the same thing when I read the article but it seems that this time he might actually sign.

While the popular idea would be to do Sting vs Taker at WrestleMania 30 I think it would be too soon because he can only sign in January. He's not going to debut and then lose his first match IMO.

And we also have to take into consideration if he has a 90 day no compete clause. He could show up at WWE TV no earlier than March, which is too close for a WM match against anybody. He should be built as a real threat to The Undertaker's streak by winning a couple of high profile matches before a possible showdown at Wrestlemania.

I would love to have that Best of Sting DVD collection. From his NWA days, to his possible WWE HOF induction.

I don't see the point in Sting wrestling in WWE outside working the dream match with Taker. He certainly adds another big name and will heip the young guys whenever he can, but this is too little too late in my opinion. The merchandizing opportunities and HOF induction are the things to get excited about.

I'm sure he would have no problems putting younger talent over. He's old school on that regard.

While that would be a cool way for him to debut, I wonder if WWE would be willing to do that after the Owen Hart incident.

There's no doubt Taker vs Sting would be a big money Dream Match.

What's everyone's thoughts on the repackaging of Joe Hennig? Changing his name to Curtis Axel and putting him with Paul Heyman are smart moves in my opinion. Plus the Mr. Perfect theme remix is great.

This Sting vs Undertaker Dream Match stuff got me thinking...

If you could put together a NWA/WCW vs WWF/E ppv from any time period (Monday Night Wars era or Jim Crocket Promotions vs Rock n Wrestling, for example), what would it look like?

I know we got most of the big matches over time with people switching companies so much, but just a thought... Any ideas?

I mean.....it's not like Sting is doing anything really meaningful at TNA...........:o

I like it so far. Still waiting to see if he had a fraction of the charisma of his father, though.

Circa 1987-88

Team WWE: Hogan, Andre, Steamboat, Savage, Race

Team NWA: Flair, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Sting

I'm surprised that he's recovered from the "Genesis" promo. I guess being friends with Lesnar helps.
