They'd just give him ridiculously unkempt fingernails like Sabretooth instead.

On second thought, we should just get rid of Wolverine. I really think Marvel could take him out of comics for 5 years and no one would notice.

I wouldnt, the overexposure over the years covers at least 5-7 years, it be like I swear to god he was in that comic, guess not.

Honestly for me this is one of the worse character changes in recent years, right up there with "Cat-Beast" and "Iron-Spidey".

As others have said yeah eventually he will lose the ability, but in the mean time its taking away alot of what Cyclops is about (him being a Cyclops because he uses a visor for one) Scott understands pehapes more so than any X-men the blessing and a curse of being a mutant.

Those claws are holding him back.

Same with Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer, who the hell fights with those anymore:o

Maybe Iron Mans armor too.

Then I hope you're never called into court as a witness. :(

How does that suddenly get negated because he gains the ability to control his blasts? He's still had to live with the curse of his power for his whole life, and his experiences were still molded by that. Frankly, I think that very change, from a guy who was slave to his powers to a guy who's now free to participate in everything as a normal man, would create some great internal conflict and probably see him develop significantly if it's done well. Again, you guys are treating this like it's gonna be permanent when it's a lot more likely that it won't.

As for the visor = Cyclops bit, I don't really think that's a good argument. The character should be barred from potential development because his name is a pun? Please.

how is it a curse if he can control it

I think he's trying to say the curse aspect is already ingrained in his personality, he's going to be affected by that aspect of his life for as long as he lives whether he gets control or not

I guess that whole blind thing is gonna start getting tired for Daredevil

So when cyke was a kid he was a prostitute?

Who would hire a prostitute that would never open his eyes?

It would only be a problem if the prostitute can't open their mouth.

All I can say is...sometimes people have some very...very strange fetishes and might need the eyes open...

Some people like blindfolds.

Yes, because the loss of the visor is a loss of all the powers that Cyclops has. Plus, his history as a leader and status as a mutant are all going to be gone too.

Gee, Cyclops just won't be the character he's been for 40 years without that visor.

(Yay! I can play sarcasm too! Just messing with you Roach.)

But seriously...why can't we enjoy the poor guy actually getting a break? I don't like how the character has been written a lot (prior to Morrisson/Whedon) but even I have some sympathy and even if I know the visor will come back, I want to let the poor character enjoy some control for a while.

I don't think I could tolerate a visor-less Cyclops. I mean, wouldn't his name have to change too? Looks like I'll be dropping Astonishing if this is a longterm thing. Marvel's switched things around with characters in the past but lately they seem to be doing things which is very out of character, like this and what they're doing with Spider-Man.

LoL what would they change his name to? Biclops?
Blasteyes? Cut-eye?
LoL

It won't last anyway, so what's the point in getting worked up? Everything reverts back to type in comics.

The name Cyclops never had anything to do with the visor, it was the fact that with or without the visor his eyes created a single beam as though from a single eye. Instead of remaining separate beams like most people with vision powers his beams merge into one beam.

Are you sure? I thought it was because the visor gave the impression of him having one eye. Do you have any quotes on that?
