you guys only talk about the villains, how to derive the villains and their plan. you guys have forgetten that singer wanna do the character development, how superman progress from there; having a son and a girl he should let go. and that would be his main focus of the sequel.

In the Superman realm, Zod is more grounded than Brainiac and more up Singer's alley.

And for the record, nothing is "confirmed". The movie isn't even confirmed.
The backlash against singer, if Zod were announced as the main villain, would be immense.
I think he knows what folks would say, and for that reason, I doubt it will happen.

I don't think WB would OK Zod even if Singer wanted him, which I don't think he does. It's obviously going to be Braniac in the script, I don't know how they could do anything else.

Think about it, who would've honestly anticipated back in 2004, a sequel to the Richard Donner movies? Would you ever think Warners would ok that? Bizarro is another possibility. I'm hoping for Brainiac...buit I'm not positive that it will happen.

down

There's no way to make a good sequel to that p.o.s. setup. Whatever they change, the kid and Richard will still be there, Lex will be back as well. Oh, and did I mention that there's about 0% chemistry between Routh and Bosworth?

There's no way but down from here. But please, keep dreaming.

Now comes the typical fanboy response:
"But ... but ... X2 was so much better than X1! Singer can do it!!!!"

*rofl* Difference is, X1 was good and turned the X-Men into interesting characters the public wanted to see!
SR even alienated the fanbase. It's "Batman Forever" all over again. You remember what came after that ...

I just don't see any good direction they could go in the sequel. I personally would like a quiet redo five to 7 years from now.

Oh, well if you don't like X1,X2, or SR, then of course you have no faith in a Singer sequel.

The sequel could very well suck ass, but so could TDK. If someone had told me that Batman Returns or Spiderman 3 would suck, I would have laughed at him. Now I understand, more than ever, that there isn't a formula and that a movie can suck for a lot of reasons. The approach Nolan is taking with the Joker reminds me of the grittier Penguin that Burton made, but I will wait and see. Singer could very well turn the "superson" story into a great and/or solid movie.

I want all the tones(including Bosworth) carried over from the first film, just put some larger than life action scenes in.

this is the direction a Singer sequel should go:

^I'd rather watch his than Singers...It can't get much worse and if it does atleast it would be entertaining.

Yes, I'm waiting for the Spider-Man movies sucks jokes.

I wouldn't mind Bizzaro if done in a less campy way, but it would have to be in addition to Brainiac. Bizzaro is a sideshow.

If they are having Brainiac, they shouldn't use Darkseid at all, I can see no way in which they can share a partnership. They are each no 1, second to no one...

I'm up for the restart... a sequel would either carry on all the annoying things in SR, or would be fixing things in a very forced way (killling Jason or Richard, finding a excuse to rapidly turn Lex into the cool business villain)

I have a horrible feeling that we'll get stuck with Bizarro and Luthor.

I cant speak as to what he may or may not do but, I know what I would like to see.

Brainiac, and he is either created from N.K., or he actually comes from Krypton itself.

an opening sequence with supes in a fight with metallo, or another lesser known villain..

A Lex that has moved on from his obsession with land. His new obsession would be business ( Lex-corp).

Brainiac makes contact with Lex and they form a secrete partnership. Lex gives Brainiac info about Jason.

Jason gets kidnapped by Brainiac, to use as leverage against superman.

Superman loses the first fight due to Brainiac having jason hid in a secrete location.

Richard and Lois discover where jason is located and attempt to save him, they succeed, but Richard dies a hero during the rescue.

Superman learns jason is safe, but he also learns about richard. an enraged supes goes all out on Brainiac, eyes glowing bright red.

a massive citywide fight ensues that ends on the outskirts of the city. Superman, his suit and cape in tatters, vaporizes Brainiac with his heat vision on full blast, something he would have never done before.

That sounds pretty decent. Lots of action, but still a solid story.

So Richard has to die then?

I feel sorry for Marsden. In X-Men, his character was the honourable, dependable good guy who was pushed to the side and then bit the dust. Is the same going to become of Marsden's character in SR. Poor old James Marsden, he never gets to stay with his love.

And making him a villain would seem strange too, although more acceptable than killing him off.

As I've said before, SR wrote itself into a corner somewhat. Lois, Richard, Lex and Jason have to be included in a sequel, and have to have dramatic things happen to them, which makes whatever happens to them seem contrived and forced.

I have a horrible feeling that we'll get stuck with Bizarro and Luthor.

That wouldn't suprise me, he stabbed him with the shard and put the rest in his pocket with Superman's DNA.

I hate to say it...but this is what I think will happen...

Luther discovers information about the Phantom Zone where Zod was placed many years ago. Somehow he is able to free Zod using stolen technology (he won't be in charge of Lexcorp as there will not be one)

Zod instead takes charge, much to Luther's surprise and sort of becomes a 2nd in command (in his own mind) lackey...Zod and Superman fight it out...yadayada...

Your enthusiasm is blinding.:yay: If Zod doesn't happen, then you have to see the movie 3 times no matter what.

I Totally agree, I worte this awhile ago, It is what I feared might happen:

Lois discovers Clark is Superman; he gives up being Sups (powers and all) to have a “normal” life with Lois and Jason.

But wait Luthor frees the phantom zone criminals and they head off to the fortress . Once back to full power that wacky Zod is up to his old tricks, world domination and what not. Clark realizes the world needs Superman and with the help of his sort of super-powered son they get Clark’s powers back and stop the bad guys! Yeah! The world is safe again Superman thanks to you!

There is just so much great material that has been overlooked by the last 3 directors (Burton, Abrams, MCG and Singer) I really hope we see somthing new!
