Visualizing A Superman Reboot: Pictures Welcome

Well given another small e-mail I got where apparently the idea of when Dan Harris said "villains.." he didn't just mean one more... the idea is apparently 3 excluding Lex. This could be dead wrong but I think if this nice nugget I got is true then it will certainly salvage a hell of a lot wrong with the first film.

Featuring a lesser known villain in an opening act action scene (Metallo created by Lex as a diversion hoping to actually slay Superman so that he can open up with Lexcorps and "stop Metallo" showing that the world doesn't need Superman but this plan is foiled to begin with as Superman manages to beat Metallo) which follows up with the origins of Bizarro (Superman's DNA blood plus the slate gray rock appearance of New Krypton), Braniac as an android/virus tagging onto Superman's ship from Krypton and thus inhabiting New Krypton somehow as his final base and commands Bizarro.

Problem however, and it just shows Singer can't stay away from Donner, Lex tries to pull the whole "i'm a good guy who's allies with Superman" against Brainiac like he did at the near end of Superman II against Zod only to turn on Superman... same plot point is apparently pitched straight in here with Lex wanting to use Superman to beat Brainiac only so that Lex can capture Brainiac, gain all his knowledge and build weapons so advanced to destroy Supes but Supes somehow manages to stop Brainiac, Bizarro and Lex all at once.

should be interesting if this is pans out to be right

you guys only talk about the villains, how to derive the villains and their plan. you guys have forgetten that singer wanna do the character development, how superman progress from there; having a son and a girl he should let go. and that would be his main focus of the sequel.
character development is only gonna be used in the sequel only in small portions....cause if you recall Singer said that now that we have introduced the characters in first movie....now you can have fun with it....or something along those lines

So Richard has to die then?

I feel sorry for Marsden. In X-Men, his character was the honourable, dependable good guy who was pushed to the side and then bit the dust. Is the same going to become of Marsden's character in SR. Poor old James Marsden, he never gets to stay with his love.

And making him a villain would seem strange too, although more acceptable than killing him off.

As I've said before, SR wrote itself into a corner somewhat. Lois, Richard, Lex and Jason have to be included in a sequel, and have to have dramatic things happen to them, which makes whatever happens to them seem contrived and forced.

We all know that Lois will end with Superman, the only question is, how will it happen? I think that there are only three options for richards character.

A) He loses Lois to superman and becomes the bitter ex. He goes to Lex for help.

B) He dies a hero saving Jason and/or Lois.

C) He bows out gracefully, telling Lois he understands that she still loves superman, and he will not stand in the way.

3 villains??? I like that, and at least there is no mention of Lex wanting more real estate.

this is the direction a Singer sequel should go:

you completely ignored what i said about my post....if you wanna say stuff like that, start your own damn post, but dont do it here

I don't want to see any more kryptonite.

I want to see a villain who can go toe to toe with Supes. I want a fight scene worthy of Superman.

i don't think lois must end up with superman.

I suspect that we will have a Luthor/Metallo storyline..and the final act will set up the villain for the third (Which could be either Bizarro or Brainiac). I'm almost positive if Metallo is in the film that they will cast the role seperately from Marsden. They need a big name ala Spacey for Luthor. Finally, I hope they give Luthor a rest after this second installment, and let's get some new villains in there for the third.

Thinking way down the line...

Since Singer most likely will be making the film, here are some things I'd like to see happen:

- First, clean up the mistake about Lex and the old lady. I'd like to see a storyline occur which explains, somehow, that the money the old woman had was mostly Lex's, and that he left it in her care or something when he went to jail. All he did was get it back from her when she died. This would kill the whole "Lex stole money from an old lady" storyline, and somewhat salvage (as best as possible, anyway) what we all have come to know as the genius of Lex Luthor.
- Brandon needs more dialogue in the film, and he needs acting classes. Other than that, the imagery of him as Superman is fine.
- The kid. I'm not so sure about this, but I'm not completely against Superman having a kid, tbh. It certainly makes sense after Donner's version of SII, since they did the deed *before* he gave up his powers. Not to mention that I'd imagine that nothing, not a condom or the pill, could stop Superman's sperm from breaking on through and getting Lois pregnant. Thus, like it or not, the kid being born actually makes sense.
- Superman needs to a) get his butt kicked by villains, and b) do some butt kicking of his own against villains. I would not be opposed to seeing Metallo and a 'genius' Lex Luthor, who has by now started a corporation and is well on his way to eventually becoming President of the US.
- The movie should fast forward and take place 5 years after SR. Lois' relationship to Richard has ended and the kid is older now.
- I'd love to see appearances from other DC heroes - perhaps a cameo of Batman (Bales) or Wonder Woman.

I'm not sure just what can be done, but Singer needs to fix some of those stupid mistakes from the first movie, mainly the whole 'goofy, dumb *ss' Lex Luthor character.

i think the more you fix the more wrong/mistakes you would get.

just ignore them and concentrate on the new main plot is the best way to go.

Lex Luthor becomes an evil IRS agent instead of being an evil real estate agent and audits Superman for 3 hours.

I wouldnt mind Zod, but as a powerless one only.

Brainiac could be from Krypton, and Zod helped create him.

Brainiac contacts Lex.

Brainiac and Lex form a secrete partnership. Lex is able to create Lex-corp in part thanx to some tech that Brainiac gives him, weapons, computer programs, new drugs, etc etc.

Brainiac's secrete agenda is to turn earth into another krypton.

Superman is unable to defeat Brainiac in their first encounter, it ends in a draw. Superman learns that Brainiac is from krypton though.

Superman visits a powerless Zod in prison, played by terrence stamp.

Zod gives superman info on how to defeat Brainiac, in exchange for a full pardon.

One of Lex's cronies in prison learns of the deal from a prison guard and informs Lex.

Zod is freed, but its shortlived, because Lex tells Brainiac of Zod's treachery.

Brainiac confronts a powerless Zod. Zod tries to weasel his way out, but to no avail. Brainiac kills him.

Superman faces Brainiac for the second time. He uses the info Zod gave him and defeats Brainiac.

At the end, Brainiac's ship is flying through space with a dozen more Brainiac bodies on board.

i think by just mentioning zod was in the movie would stop a lot of people to go to the cinema to watch the movie.

I dont know why people would have a problem with it, he wouldnt even have superpowers, and would only be in it for like 15/20 mins tops.
PLUS he gets killed. what Zod hater wouldnt love to see that??:D

Again, he has no powers, plus he gets killed. I say do it. I'd love to see him beg for mercy before Brainiac finishes him off.

now add some lines from superman 2 and i am 100% sure that some superman fan would kick hes ass until he would be full of blood.
and he would deserve it.

i dont know what the f... you are talking about. but just explain me why after 20 years he can not make a 100% new movie? just why the f... does there need to be someone from the old movie?

sorry for the f... :o

hmmm, well lets see, It would have Brainiac as the main villain (thats new) superman going to zod for help (again new) Brainiac kills a powerless zod ( yup new)

I never said singer was going to do this, we were hashing around ideas and I came up with this.

you have any of your own other than F... this or F... that??????

i use a lot of times f... when i am angry. SR was 70% homage and copy of S:TM. zod makes me extreme angry because it reminds me of SR. :whatever::o
