I voted script style. Lets take the kid and all that romance bulls*** out and inject some fun superhero action back into the Superman franchise.

I agree immediately with dumping the kid in some well for the rest of time, though I could also see the Lois Lane romance gone. Why not just plain and traditional original Superman which there is no romantic involvement with Lane, there is only the Clois pairing as two professional reporters. Work on a true story I could see.

Well, I'm not opposed to Supes and Lois as a couple, just dont make it so central to the movie. Like, when you read a Superman comic, you dont get 80% Lois/Clark romantic crap, 20% action. MOS shouldnt have it either, like SR did.

I would vote for a complete reboot, ditch the current storyarc, the kid, the writers, Singer, the suit (and hairstyle), Krystal Krypton, etc, and if possible, keep Routh and Spacey. I hated the material that both actors were given to work with in SR. I think that if the script had involved a Lex who wasn't campy, wouldn't surrounded himself with idiots, and didn't have that moronic obsession with real estate, but instead was the sinister businessman from the comics who manipulated everything and built his fortune on his own intellect and inventions, rather than swindling an old lady out of her money (those damn wigs, too); Spacey would have done amazing in such a role.

And Superman himself should do something a bit more exciting for the climax than lifting a big rock. Have an aerial dogfight with Neutron, demolish some landscape while duking it out with Mongul, something, anything.

A better script is essential. That's the key ingredient. Most of the rest of the movie - acting, dialogue, suspense, drama, correct characterisation - will fall into place if it's well-written.

The superkid doesn't have to be a large part of the sequel. He could just be mentioned - Superman could ask how he is, Lois could say he's fine and leave it at that.

The alternative is to make the kid central to the story - Lex suspects it's Superman's kid so he would want to kidnap him and see if he could find the key to creating human-Kryptonian hybrids that have Superman's powers. Giving Jason a large role would mean us all going back into the plot ideas and scenarios of the story of the first movie. A lot of people don't want to revisit that, they'd want the movie to move on and not be mired in the shaky backstory of the first movie.

A brighter look to the movie is also needed - more primary colours and better lighting please.

However, I can't see them rushing into a sequel because of the way SR was made and the way it performed at the box office.

script mostly.
you don't need to change actors(love routh, spacy, bosworth, marsden imo) but just bring in Brainiac as some creation from one of the crystals... or something. just make a sequel and add a *****load of fighting, punching, kicking action.

I voted that the suit needs changing the most.

My second vote would have been the marketing. Because advertising for SR was abysmal. It was the most underperforming, most uneffective marketing I have ever seen for a movie in my life time. That was just the first sign the movie was not going to do well.

I thought the trailers and posters were brilliant. The art on the posters was really well done and the trailers were amazing. The trailers made me super excited. I always felt the guys who put the trailers together didn't get nearly enough credit. They actually made a boring film lacking action, that used a retread story, and had poor characterization, and made it look new, fresh and exciting in the trailers.

If the film had made $350 million, no one would have blamed the marketing. The marketing was fine as shown by the big opening weekend. It was word of mouth that killed it.

i liked the second trailer in theaters (with john williams main superman march in it) and thats it. the teaser i thought was boring, and the tv spots were just superman rescuing people to rock music. sorry

if they have lex just let him be the one that pulls the strings. i see a lex controlled intergang creating metallo. and have metallo have a history with lois as the one who put him in prison. kinda like the animated series version but darker. they need to restart, but they might as well keep brandon. it'll take them another 10 yrs to find another guy.

Frankly, I wouldnt be opposed to a reboot.

After watching the TDk trailer for the 40ith time, I just really hope they allow Singer to keep his color palette(and suit) if they make MOS. There's a visual connection between the two franchises for me even if Singer's movie is the only one to acknowledge the other. I can just imagine a dark green Brainiac fighting Superman in the night sky of Metropolis. AWESOME!

Leave the bright costumes and bright nights to the JL Batman and Superman.

Where's the option for more action? That's the only gripe I had with SR.

I love Superman Returns and just because I want changes doesnt mean I hate Superman Returns.

* Make red on the suit brighter and maybe enlarge the \S/ slightly.

* Action fight scenes - the FX we have now would make great Superman fight scenes so I wanna see some

* Make Lex into corporate Lex, make Lex trick the people into thinking hes changed.

* Make Lois more likeable, I dont think Kate Bosworth can be blamed, Lois was just written wrong.

* Bizzarro and Brainiac as the villains, maybe even Mettallo too

* Dr Hamilton included

* Other people saved, not just Lois

Changing the actors will ruin it, its just a stupid idea.

QFT.

*Waits for inevitable :bh: and :brucebat: arguments about recasting. (I just watched the TDK trailer, and I didn't notice any difference between the two Rachels [Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal].)*

thats because Maggie and katoe look similar and its an improvement on actress, plus its not a big casting change really.

I think it's too much to ask for a complete reboot. I would just like a resolution to the story arc. I don't like the kid but it is what it is. ut I don't want the kid killed. That would just anger superman and push this series into a worse position. Just tell Lois he's clark kent establish a relationship with her and the kid a make them more of a back story to the real action. Bring in some serious villains with a real threat and go from there. Luthor should be the ultimate antagonist but start developing a different story line for him enough with this land deal and let's start lexcorp already. Mettalo would be great. I personaly think routh did a pretty good job keep him and spacey andmake a true to form comic book movie. Lots of excitement real danger and real stakes. Now superman does't just have the people to worry about but his own family.

I would have checked the wayyy more kick butt action box, but I couldn't find it. :yay:
