Voltron: The Movie

If they totally throw out all the crap that was before and the whole post apocalypse concept garbage, the movie could have a shot.

If they get something closer to the Voltron/Go-Lion concept it has a shot. Marks script was downright moronic and insulting. Sort of like what they did to GI JOE but worse.

The thing is . . . Transformers was able to constantly re-invent itself and become popular again before the movies.

Voltron has generally failed at doing that and stayed a pretty nostalgic, collector oriented property. The 1990's reboot was pretty much a failure.

"It’s not clear if Marks script will be completely abandoned (my educated guess is yes)"

The guys who are in charge now have proven themselves more competent based on their past projects.

I'm pretty sure they are going to dump Marks script and start from scratch.

Also now that Atlas owns the filming rights they will most likely team up with either WB or Paramount because they have withstanding contracts.

Like you said there is a shot for them to make this right or for it to go down a horrible route.

Until then I think its fair to give this a shot until something is released to indicate otherwise.

While I'm excited for this movie to move forward, I must say I'm a bit dissapointed at the prospect of not getting the previous script. As someone who went to Albertson's with his dad every sunday morning to get donuts and rent a Voltron VHS tape (They only had like 6, but I got them over and over again until I almost had them memorized) as a kid, I was excited by the script and it's take on the material. I loved the idea of the lions being these ancient things that once existed and they rebuild them out of junk and when the keys do their thing they come to life and kick butt. A battle that stretched around the world, multiple cultures coming together, while still keeping intact the alien races. It reminded me of Reign of Fire, but with Voltron characters in a way, which I personally thought was cool. The idea that it wasn't just your average "Look, there's the bad guy! Let's build over 2 hours to an epic confrontation that let's them know we are not to be messed with!" story. I loved that the Drules had already kicked our butts and humanity is trying to get back on it's feet. It ditched the slightly more mature power rangers feel for a different tone altogether. I totally could have seen Haggar and Lotor and Zarkon coming back to see who was whupping up on their robeasts in a sequel.

Oh well, I read it and it's in my head. I can enjoy it there. Hopefully a Voltron movie makes it into production in some way, shape, or form. I'm open to someone else's vision. Hopefully it won't cause as much of an uproar from "hardcore" voltron fans.

And even though I love Voltron, it isn't the end all be all of robot anime. That's Gundam. And I'll personally be making that film if I have my way, so never fear. Me and Amuro go WAY back... :woot:

Anyway...

****ing Voltron... where's Robotech?

ok voltron and transformers were why i got up on saturday mornings. is jem next?

I guess this movie will never come to be, which is unfortunate, because a (more faithful) Voltron movie would be the ****. So, on that note, I am going to throw out my cast, just to get feedback.

Hunk

I can do reasons why/characterizations later, this took long enough

Wow, I had no idea Hunk looked just like Uncle Sam

Hey Donnie Darko, better tune down the hotlinking. If that last one turned to porn you would be banned for good

Sorry, I have been around the Hype for damn near 7 years and the only way I have ever known to post a pic was click on "Insert Image" then paste said images web address. That is the first time I have ever had any issue with it.

I don't know about Voltron on Earth. It's going to make it look like Power Rangers or another Transformers.

Oh well, with all these reimagination/rebooting of franchises for the big screen they were bound to stuff up one of them. At least they got Transformers right.

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT:cmad:

Images look really cool. The Volton design is actually pretty faithful, it just has more of a modern spin put on it. It's been so long since I've seen the cartoon, but here are some casting ideas off the top of my head. I went with mostly TV actors because that would keep the cost down. I also feel that most of the characters (with the exception of Pidge) should be a bit older than they were in the cartoon so that they are more believable as veteran pilots.

Keith: Jeffrey Donovan
Allura: Cara Buono
Lance: Timothy Olyphant
Hunk: Kevin Durand
Pidge: Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Sven: Hans Matheson
King Zarkon: Brian Cox
Prince Lotor: Luke Goss

These concepts look like the artist heard
"draw me some pics of megatron"

Here is your megatron! :)

"Noooo I said Voltron, he is supposed to have lions for arms and legs and a lion head!"

Right!, Megatron with lions
...Here ya go!

(Presents megatron with lions)

"niiiiiiiice"

What's wrong with the setting of planet Arus? The artwork looks decent, if not a little too movie Decepticon with colors inspired.

Untilteld:

Just FYI, in the script Fox apparently liked:

-Hunk is a middle-aged Arab man.

-Lance is a black guy in his 30's.

-Pidge is a 10 year old Japanese boy that doesn't know English.

unforgiveable:cmad:
