WandaVision WandaVision: season 1 Episode 9: “Series Finale” (Spoilers)

All our expectations didn't HAPPEN
BUT IT WAS GOOD NEVERTHELESS
The new outfit looks SEXY ON WANDA

I thought Lizzie Olsen looked really sexy in that costume. The head dress was nice and not as large as her Halloween outfit. I'm glad she had bare shoulders and arms too like a more classic costume and wasn't covered up. I do wish she had a cape though and that the colour was more red instead of burgundy.

I didn't really understand the second credits scene.

I liked the philosophical discussion between the two Visions. That was a bit like something out of Star Trek that Spock would've said. I was thinking that Westview Vision might get White Vision to destroy himself by pointing out that White Vision is the true Vision and therefore he must carry out his programming to destroy Vision, which is something Captain Kirk would've done. But I'm glad Vision is now still out there and can show up in future.

The finale did feel a bit rushed. I would've liked more scenes with Monica, Jimmy and Darcy. Darcy barely showed up except to stop Hayward.

I didn't mind the Evan Peters thing of not being Quicksilver.

As for the episode as a whole I'm disappointed because I had built this whole narrative and theory in my mind and then hyped it up. I was expecting Reed Richards, Magneto, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Namor, Ben Grimm's Aunt Petunia, Howard the Duck, Baby Groot, Phil Coulson, the Flash, Wonder Woman, Elvis, Dick Van Dyke, the Olsen Twins, Bert and Ernie and @flickchick85 to show up. It never lived up to that at all. :(

Though I'd read the various theories and speculation, I've seen fans getting carried away with stuff like this before so I never expected most of what was being talked about, therefore I wasn't let down in the slightest. This was Wanda & Vision's story primarily after all, not Endgame kitchen sink shenanigans.

Having said that I did think there might be more to Evans role than we got, but in the end that's no big deal. I think of that as being a more elaborate stunt cast cameo of a former star in a role turning up in a new film with the same character (Like Lou Ferrigno in the Hulk movies). Obviously this was different as he was presented as Pietro, but the reveal that he was just an actor with a joke name didn't annoy me at all.

The battles were well staged, and I like that the Visions settled theirs with some philosophical insight rather than just one blowing away the other. Wanda using some learned magic to stop Agatha was neat too. Was pleased they made it clear Wanda didn't know she was making the people suffer and promptly tried to give them an out once that penny dropped. Still extremely selfish to knowingly puppet a whole town for her fantasy, but at least she acknowledged that herself and let it go.

And love Wanda's final costume, though I hope the next time we see it they brighten some parts of it to give it some actual scarlet.

All in all I really liked the show. Slow start not really getting going until 4, but compelling viewing for me with Olsen and Bettany on top form. Roll on Doctor Strange 2 :)

This show had some of the best musical themes the MCU has to offer. I'm a little sad we didn't get anymore for the last 2 episodes. I don't know if we'll get anything quite like that in any of the other series except perhaps a potential future Dazzler musical series.

I just started a rewatch and I love the theme from episode 1. Feels crazy to go back to that slapstick jolly start after the finale haha.

I mean they still let her be an Avenger after blowing up the building in Civil War, kind of but she was always the odd one with her past. The team accepted her but the government and other countries never trusted her.

I think she is being watched by Strange in the cabin is probably an area he can get through from the hoops he makes. She couldn't do the astral studying without learning it from someone. Even if she is suppose to be stronger than him, I doubt she just picked up on how to do it.
Yeah and Strange himself needed to learn from others before he became the Sorceror Supreme. Lizzie’s SW is still in the learning phase on the way to becoming uber powerful.

But where does Wanda go from here? Is that cabin another reality she's creating in prison? Maybe Strange is holding her? How can she go back to being an Avenger after what she did to those people? I was hoping Agatha was going to end up having a bigger hand in them being stuck there.

I know it's implied that other Avengera like Nat did bad things but seeing it all play out like this is different.

I suspect that she might have gone back to Sokovia as she said she was going to learn about herself and it sure looks like that is what she is doing. Looks like she has learned some kind of conscious astral projection for starters (physical body staying awake & active while projecting). Would be prudent of her to learn new stuff in isolation after what she did unintentionally in Westview.

As for her future we'll have a better idea after Doctor Strange MOM. Agatha was convinced her becoming the Scarlet Witch was big time bad news after all. I would think that thread will be addressed moving forward. I mean, Doctor Strange would have had his hands full if he got on her bad side when she was ignorant of her magic. Now she is learning it for real...

After reading so many reactions today I ended liking it more than I expected. The parts that worked well for me were Wanda's powers and her goodbye to her family which really hit me in the gut.

It could be part of the fracturing of goodwill of the public as SW was one of the risk factors during the accords of Civil War and kept isolated for this very reason. Also the X-Men are eventually going to be operating without public goodwill.

It will definitely be interesting to see how Wanda is handled in the future. She technically could leave to another Civil War type event. With her prophecy we could very well see our first hero who falls into darkness and inadvertently becomes the villain.

She became the villain in house of m but it wasn't malicious.

With her obvious power levels after almost singlehandedly taking out Thanos and creating and maintaining Westview for so long, she will definitely have been on that cosmic watchlist of Strange and co! Maybe Agatha was too.

After a sleep I want to add that we live in a crazy times about poeple rating series and movies. It seems to be more important that some cameos happen then the main narrative. The overall arc for Mandalorian per example was very streched and only was a row of random quests to get some informations. The fighting scenes are even at minimum.

But CGI Luke in the end pushs the last episode to 9.8 on IMDB.

She is MCU Phoenix since I doubt the MCU will do another evil Jean Grey after Fox did 2.

That would suit me. I would rather Jean be limited to only the positive impact of Phoenix this time. SW can be a little more borderline, and indeed has already crossed many lines - although I would rather she still stays as a hero overall.

I really liked the Scarlet Witch comic inspired costume. Also liked Vision quest Vison.

Wasn't expecting the Darkhold to pop up again so soon after its appearance in the old Marvel TV shows. I expected if we saw it again it would of been in a Midnight Sons film or Doctor Strange. Strange has the book of vishanti in the MCU I think.

Wanda going crazy never ends well (dissembled/House Of M). Crazy Wanda with the Darkhold should be a wild ride.

I thought Wanda's cabin was at wundagore mountain.

I really enjoyed the final scene between Wanda & Vision, and her development throughout the show.

But, I can't even be satisfied with that because Vision being alive (with all of his memories mind you), actively undermines Wanda's arc, her sacrifice, and the message of the show overall. It feels like it was all for nothing.

I notice that the MCU tends to undermine it's own character arcs & consequences. Almost everything that happened in IW-Endgame has been reversed and/or undermined in some way, shape or form in the Phase 4 slate.

I loved it. My favorite marvel studios project. I hoped we would get these deep dives into who these characters are and i am thrilled marvel delivered. I fail to see how any cameo would improve it. Im in it for the story, not some last minute lame "reveals".
The final exchange between wanda and vision is the best piece of writing in a superhero genre in a looong time. Visions lines had big "tears in rain" energy. Perfect.

Did they finally resolve who is Cliff that Jimmy called to come to Westview in an hour? I find it strange they left this particular scene there so late in the show, this might lead to something in the future, perhaps related to the witness protection thing.

Who knows, that witness could be “Ralph”, who is unlikely to be his real name. He would have been under doubled mind control, first Wanda, then Agatha, if he wasn’t “invented” or “pulled” from somewhere. They didn’t show him returning to his normal form.

Did they run out of money to pay Kat Dennings or something? She wasn't in the last episode and here she just shows up for one shot and then they have to explain her sudden disappearance. It just felt weird after she was such a major part of earlier eps.

This is pure speculation by me, but I think production, likely for the last episodes, got into some troubles due to the pandemic, so it's possible some actors weren't available at the same time?
