I loved X3...IMHO not as good as X2 but its close.

One of my favorite aspects of X3 however was how they showed that Magneto despite all of his differences with Xavier STILL had his feeling of brotherhood with him and was legitimately saddened by his death.

Along with the actual death scene, that part where he scolded Pyro for saying that he would've killed the Prof. had Mags given him the opportunity really speaks volumes about their past friendship.

That whole Prof. X death scene when the whole thing was happening, my jaw had dropped...I was shocked and saddened at what I was witnessing...hearing Wolverine call out for Xavier was expected but what really got my emotions going was when you even heard Magneto crying out for Jean to stop...man I really liked that aspect, showing that at the end of the day Mags still cared for Xavier.

Thoughts?

He himself tried to kill him in the second movie, So...no I think his reaction is strange and badly written.

Mind telling me when he tried to kill Xavier?

All he did was switch Cerebro to target humans.

He used Xavier as a pawn for his goals, yes, but he did not try to kill Xavier. Not once.

The relationship / history between Magneto and Xavier in this movie was ****ing brilliant. I loved seeing them as friends in the flashback. And I loved Magneto's reaction to Jean killing Xavier. And I loved Magneto scolding Pyro about Xavier.

It really does drive home the respect that they had for each other, even if they had different means of achieving their goals.

How is that? Mags left Xavier in the Dark Cerebro but he had no idea that the damn had ruptured...as far as Mags knew Xavier would've just snapped out of it whenever he was finished.

And as far as X1, its apparant that the poison used on Xavier was to temporarily incapacitate him as he carried out his plan (mutating world leaders).

This sign of character development in X3 was great.

Leaving him there when the water was about to come down?
You normally leave people in a metal room under hypnosis with a handicap and fully expect them to come out.

Yeah, I agree. It was a very powerful scene. I was completely stunned by the total obliteration of the Professor. I was hurt and saddened for quite a few minutes after it happened. It was real to me. It was also real and interesting to see the reaction of Magneto.
I also got affected by Logan and Storm when they rushed back into the house and found the empty wheelchair. They fell to their knees and cried.
It was very moving.
Yeah, and I loved it when Magneto scolded Pyro and gave respect for the Professor.
This movie, as short as it was, moved me way more than the previous X-films.
IMO, it the best of the three.
I still hope that an extended version comes out on dvd.

Agreed.

It shows that no matter how far Magneto might go, he really does have the best interest of mutantkind at heart, and that he would love nothing more than for Xavier to be there at his side when mutantkind finally got the prosperity they deserved.

Read my post, bro.

He didn't know that the damn had ruptured...

Havent watched it in a while...so ill relent for now.

It was very cool to see Magneto scared for his old friend Xavier at Jean's house.

Him putting Pyro in his place was good.

And him at the chess board sad and alone were all great scenes. They showed Magneto respected and missed Xavier. Good stuff and true to the comics too.

I felt sorry for the de-powered Magneto.

He's been a mutant his whole life, and that life has pretty much been taken away from him.

He's now just a lonely old man sitting in the park, playing chess by himself. :(

i liked his reaction to his death like wen pyro sed he wod have killed the prof and magneto defended charls

That scene for me just spoke volumes...I mean seriously the only person Magneto's probably EVER played chess with was Charles...

He's a sad and lonely man...

But as hinted in the very last frame...it isn't over.

Magneto/Xavier relationship was brilliant. The best we got from Singer was a prison visit (which seemed more like a way of boasting then a sign of friendship)...The relationship in this movie was astonishing./

I absolutely loved Xavier/Magneto. Just before Xavier was killed the sound of Magneto as he shouted "Charles!" was just awesome. Ian's voice was perfect.

And of course I loved when he scolded Pyro too. :)

I am and my friends too. Even that scene where Magneto is playing chess alone? It's like Xavier should have been seated across him, and now that he's gone,Magneto is playing chess alone.

Definitely, a much better insight on the Charles/Eric relationship, I thought it was so cool to see the flashback. How can people say the movie has no character development/emotion? The reaction from Magneto was great.

Magneto had great character developement in the second X-men movie.

In the first one, a lot of people had problems with the idea that magneto would want to turn other people into mutants. In this one, I had a lot of problems with the idea that Magneto saw mutants as nothing but weapons, nothing but pawns. Why the hell would he ally himself with somebody who had just killed his best friend right before his eyes? Because that's all Jean was to him, a weapon of great power. After Mystique lost her powers, he abandoned her. That's the only thing Magneto values in this movie, the only thing he loves or has any respect for.
Power.
Not friends, not people, not even mutants. Only power.

Magneto and Xavier's relationship was one of the most interesting things about this movie.Very true to the comics and cartoon.Does anyone remember the episode of Fox's X-Men cartoon where Mags and Prof X were kidnapped by Sinister.Sinister tortures the Professor for awhile and Magneto says something like"If anything happens to Xavier the world's most powerful mutants will band together to see him avenged".

It's about time someone mentioned this when Magneto called out for Jean to stop what she was doing to Xavier. ;) Powerful stuff. It was probably one of my favourite emotional moments and I'd pay to see it again. It was heart-breaking to see Magneto, sitting there helplessly and watching Xavier's own student killing his old friend.

The line he gave Pyro later on was great, too.

Magnus has always cared about Xavier he is after his Greatest Frined despite their differences . They are still Great firends . The best version for me is 90's X-MEN :The Animated series . In the beginining they were good friends, then they became enemies . But by the final episode they return as Friends .

X-men: Graduation Day

Magneto & Beast were the best things about this Movie. Beast = inspired Casting & how to adapt a Character the right way
