Superman Returns Was it really THAT bad?

What's your point? You have a problem with people who don't like the bland colors of the suit. We know the colors on the suit were muted in post production for no apparent reason. We have seen the original Sony Imageworks CG stuff right here on the Hype. The original colors were bright and beautiful. Even most of the defenders agree the colors on the suit were terrible.

Not to mention that WB studio honchos have espressly mentioned the suit would be brighter if a sequel is ever made.

So why are we crazy for thinking the suit colors are terrible?
I think the suit colours look terrible.

But the whole "Red is not red enough" debate is so pedantic and aggressive it is beyond belief.

Just imagine the situation. You're with a group of friends seeing SR at the theatre, and at the end when you walk out, someone says "I didn't like it. The red wasn't red enough"

live action wise, look no further than Season 1 of Superboy

color wise, it's not just the shade of red that bothered me... it was the entire color palette of the movie. The color palette and suit itself wasn't bad at all until they added in the god awful color correction... that ruined the films look all-together

But did it ruin the film? Is it worth arguing about a year and a half after the films release?

for me, yeah, it did ruin the film, and yes, it is because the same man who made it dark, dirty, and depressing is still directing it, and since his only other Superman film is Superman Returns... yes, I will use Superman Returns as a reference for future films.

But what about the heroic flight into the sunset at the end of the movie?

tell me... how long was that scene?
and now tell me... how long is the movie?

one scene cannot make up for the rest of the film... and IMO, that scene wasn't bright enough.

it would of been better with brighter colors, and not such a direct copy of the STM end sequence.

I meant that it implies a brighter future.

implications don't necessarily mean that it's going to happen... nothing was changed when Singer did X2, and I doubt anything is going to change with MOS

But X-Men is not Superman. And SR was nothing like his X-Men movies. I don't know how you can make that assumption.

because the X-Men franchise is a comic book franchise... just like Superman.

I HATED his X-Men franchise, and I hate what he's done to Superman.

No, actually human eye can't catch that. Like when you read a comic book you don't catch red dots over yellow but you see orange. See? Objective fact are in my head but all over the world too. :)

What about the S on the soles of the boots? Human eye can catch that?

When we want to see that, we'll just watch it the first time it was done:yay:

And done right. There is a reason why, even after 30 years, it is still a classic. Reeve is still considered the definitive Superman. And it is a very beloved classic film.

Erm, PLENTY was changed from X1 to X2, ALL of the suits changed, though it was barely noticable due to the colours of the suits, Storm dropped her accent, the design of the X-Jet changed, and the design of Cyclops visor was changed in quite a big way, as were the effects of Cerebro.

Singer also made it more epic and more action packed, which were 2 big complaints with X1. If we do get MOS, i think Singer will make changes once again.

whatever changes were in X2, it wasn't noticeable enough for me to care...

and I STILL think that having him on the sequel is a mistake. Small changes are not gonna be enough to save this franchise IMO

I don't see any actual complaints of the DIRECTION from Singer in this thread. Mostly it's the writting and production design people have qualm swith, no-one has commented on direction.
