Less than a month in, can you feel it? Its time to start not simply talking about the quality of the film, but how the film will be accepted by the mainstream. How successful will this film be?

I am personally looking at this movie surprising a whole hell of a lot of people as far as its success. This movie will make more money than 300.

I'm low balling it for now, I say it will be a modest $65 million US. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm currently thinking it'll end up around $175M.

It'll do OK. $25-40 million opening weekend and eventually work it's way to $75, maybe $100 if they are lucky.

I'm a huge fan and think this movie will be amazing, but Watchmen is not a household name and I just don't see it catching on like it should. The big problem is that there is little draw for chicks (aisde from a CGI blue penis). That means there will be lots of fanboys, but not enough couples. Chicks digged Spider-Man (love story aspects) and the Dark Knight (good looking brand name actors). I don't see Watchmen being a good date movie.

Then again, what the hell do I know.

The reason I think this movie has huge potential is because it has already sold itself well.

The Watchmen Graphic Novel became the best selling Graphic Novel in 2007 and 2008, the Smashing Pumpkins Song became one of the most downloaded songs on ITunes after The Dark Knight. Plus people are going to the movies in big numbers in this economy.

I think this movie opens up big with a 70 Million-80 Million Dollar opening weekend, and finishes at around 255 Mil.

i already know alot of people that are going...alot of people asking me what its about...i expect this to be pretty big...even if people only see it cuz its a "visual feast" from what you see in the tv spots...when they see the story...they'll be back

I think it will do well. $250 million does not seem like a stretch.

i estimate $180-200 million.

a bit less than batman begins did, i presume.

Somewhere around the range of Batman Begins and 300, $205-215 million.

I think it will make between $150-200 mil. The R rating and some pretty violent scenes will keep it from grossing higher than 200, but it will make alot more from DVD and blu-ray. I think it might become the highest-grossing R rated movie in history.

It will definately do well. Already, 5 of my friends have read the book after seeing the trailer in front of the Dark Knight. And most of my friends and people in my class know about the movie.

They have done an amazing job with their advertising. There's articles in my local newspaper, and most of the time it's on the top of the list as "The Most Anticipated Movie of 2009."

Poster's are everywhere, people are buying the books, and I know that I'll be seeing it at least 10 times. There's no doubt it will do well.

i know for sure it will be over $250 million

I'm going to be cautious and say it'll end in the $100 mil-$150 mil range. I'd be pleased if it did better than that, of course.

My guess is 145 million. Not as much as "300" (210 m) but more than Wanted (134 m).

opps, I thought this was opening weekend, and I prematurely voted 60-100 mill. I personally think it'll make $70 mill opening weekend, and make 200+ mill when its all said and done.

I think the opening weekend may be a little lower like 50 mil, but with good word of mouth the drop off will be much less than the usual 50-60% and will have strong follow up weekends.

I figure it will do in the 150-200M range. I think the R rating may hamper it some, but I agree that this could be the highest grossing R-rated film ever. Or at least I hope it will.

I picked 0-60 million. With it most likely being in the 45-60 range.

Hopefully it will have good word of mouth from the GA and pick up alot more.

Only 45-60 mil in its entire theatrical run?! :wow: I hope not!

Damn it!

I thought the poll was for opening weekend, whoops!

I thought you might have made that mistake. Everyone else's guesses must have seemed like insanely high nerd fantasies to you. :funny:
