Watchmen

No, the argument was done and over with. We don't need anybody idiotically adding to it because they feel their opinion is so ungodly important and original that they should start it again.

The only *******s here are the ones who feel the need to drive it when it's already days over.

it was my first time reading it, so i responded. you see, i dont come into SHH watching how old a post is before i reply. i feel something about the post, i hit the reply button and say my piece.

last time i checked, its that way for all of SHH. i dont know what makes this place so godamn special that folks with a differing opinion from the status quo has to clam up. :whatever:

If you had an opinion actually differing from the status quo, and decided two or three days later to say it, I'd still say the same thing.

The fact of the matter is, you brought up an old argument that didn't need it.

Because, in truth, fervently hitting the reply button to every little thing without seeing how the REST of the argument with, is just as dumb as the original post, no matter how smart the actual response may be.

That is a rather noobish way of doing things there Steel. Not quite multiple versus threads but up there with starting an appreciation thread about a character you have absolutely no knowledge of.

Gluon, if you want to drop a topic... then drop it. Don't post telling other people to drop it, and swear at them when they don't. You responding to Steelsheen's post brought the issue back up more so than his simple post pointing out something he agreed with. The post he quoted was only 2 days old, well within fair play. Just from browsing your posts in this thread, you're acting as obnoxious as the people you're describing, so cool it, capische? It's just comics, we're all friends here. Relax.

In any case, the topic is way off subject, and it's stupid anyway. CC made a ridiculous elitist remark, politely point this out to him if you so must, and move on. You all should be old enough not to care about it, anyway.

The only one with any sense in that conversation was Max Shrek.

your speaking of the Cassandra Cain thread?

hey i did try searching for a thread about her and there wasnt any, so i started a new one. and i didnt know much about the character and i'd like to learn more about her. is it a crime to do so in a comic book message board? i figured if there could be a thread all about Vixen, i sincerely think Cassandra Cain/ Batgirl deserved just as much.

anyway, in respect to Elijya i'll try to pull this thread back on topic.

i thought this can be a pretty powerful image for a cover, or maybe even a poster. spoilerish, but powerful nonetheless.

Ah, but Vixen has a Just Because thread. Those are supposed to be all about T & A. Character high points are inconsequential.

Old Elijya wouldn't stand for this.:csad: :csad:

I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh

Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

Dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

Wow, that song seems longer when it's sung.

It is and I would go as far to say that its the best story ever printed in comics. It made character who are people not trying to keep each character like gods who can do no wrong.

I would agree, since i finally finished reading it yesterday..and i have to say,the ending was something i would not expect..but at the same time, you could understand...especially with the circumstances of the story.

What i think could be impossible,is putting the whole story of Watchmen into a film.Could that even be done effectively?Done right?Im not sure it could be done,if it could..it would be a 3 or 4 or film easy..

Added to that,i heard that Moore originally wanted to use Charlton Comics characters..but used DC characters instead. Can anyone explain more fully?

if you drop the shipwreck sub story you can possibly fit the whole of the book in.
zak (director) has to make sure he doesn't ADD scenes (like he did in 300 to pad it out) just film it page for page and it should fit in a three hour movie.

some scenes are bound to be cut but I've got my fingers crossed that the key scenes remain.

also for casting, did anyone see victor eugene toomes in the x-files epsidode 'toomes' he is PERFECT for rorsherch(sp)

"Added to that,i heard that Moore originally wanted to use Charlton Comics characters..but used DC characters instead. Can anyone explain more fully?"

Moore wanted to use the Charlton characters (Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Question, etc) but his story would make the characters unusable in the future, so he created character analogues instead, like Nite Owl for Beetle, Doctor Manhattan for Captain Atom, and Rorschach for Question. I don't know where you're getting the DC character thing - none of Moore's Watchmen has seen print anywhere else.

a month or two ago i was reading a mid80's (85 i believe) teen titan or legion story and in the "Meanwhile" column, DC's EIC told everyone to look out for two upcoming projects - Moore's treatment of the recently-acquired Charlton Characters and Frank Miller's new Batman story. There was clearly no doubt how much these two story pitches excited DC.

He originally wanted to use Charlton Characters, but instead made up his own because DC had plans for the Charlton Characters they just bought. After all, this was pre Elseworlds. F**kin' wussies

While that would indeed be a great poster, I'd rather see the bloodied smiley badge.

of course dude. nothing beats the bloodied smiley. its just a suggestion as an alternate cover or maybe an idea for a teaser poster or something.

I only have Watchmen in single issues, and it's still uncredible. I also love the back covers, the no ads, and the clock on the cover inching ever toward midnight; It's just a simple image that carries so much weight.

I think that Snyder will film everything in the book, he already confirmed the Pirate sequences. Remember we're in the age of DVD where there is no real time constraints.

rigel7soldiers, The covers are great. I love how they are powerful images in their own right like any cover should be, but in reality they're the first panel of the comic.

Being able to put deleted scenes on a DVD doesn't mean the budget won't still skyrocket if you film every single last thing. The studio backing it wouldn't allow it.

For one thing, the Tales of the Black Freighter things were one of my least favorite parts of the series (along with the seemingly completely unrelated child murder from issue #3). Admittedly, they helped put things in perspective, but I do feel it would seem extraneous in a movie setting.

And I only really noticed the 'first panel' thing in like the first three or four issues.

Additionally, I heard that even before the idea of using Charlton characters, Moore wanted to use MLI, or "Archie," comics heroes, with the Shield roughly in the role of the Comedian.

It would make a great movie if done right but it have to be as long as PotC. Charlton comics character couldn't be because of the rights over them. I think it was for the better.

Finally finished the book. I'll admit, it was a slow start for me, but once I really got into it (after Manhattan's story), I couldn't put it down. I won't say it's the best thing I've ever read, but it's certainly every bit as good as I was hoping, and you all made it out to be.

Glad I finally read it. Now onto Kingdom Come and New Frontier. :)

Take out Tales of the Black Freighter?I hope that does not happen,i thought it was rather interesting.A story within a story,if that`s the case..are the small parts that were at the end of each chapter going to be taken out also?

I hope not, because if they are taken out..the movie watchers are really going to miss out on some things.Especially with the fact that some important details are there.
