The Dark Knight WB to go with new marketing plan

I didn't know which thread to put this in, buttt....

I don’t know when this popped up, but I was on Facebook, looking at my friends pictures when I see this:

Dark Knight voicemail.

The Joker answers your cell phone voicemail on your behalf. All other callers hear your regular message. Verizon and ATT. Free.

Just something worth reporting

will people stop demanding to the close the thread! You're not doing it out of respect for the diseased you're just doing it to act like a hall monitor.

Changes to the film's marketing is a pretty valid topic. Especially since it was the films marketing that brought so many of us together here.

Is it legit? Like, really Heath's voice?

EDIT: That's terrible.

The "leave your message at the beep" voice wasn't Ledger though.

Bit of a shameless cash in really.

It was worth mentioning, I was hoping to hear a message recorded by Ledger as part of the marketing, but if you listen to it, it's definitely not him.

I really don't think they will have to re-work that much stuff.

The film doesn't come until July 18th. That's six months from now. Even before this, they were probably going to have a full trailer come out with Iron Man in May, then start TV spots/grassroots marketing mid-June. And I don't see them changing that plan. They may make the spots/trailers less Joker-centered, but he will certainly be a major part.

I hate to sound like this, but two months from now, a lot of people will put this past them. So I don't think people will really see it as a sign of dissrespect if marketing focuses a lot on Ledger (espically a charecter in which he is covered in makeup and hardly recognizable), or be really creeped out or werided by it. This has just happend now, but I think a majority of us will put this behind us come a month or two. Time heals all wounds.

Now, I do think the viral marketing is basically over. I don't see them doing any Joker viral stuff anymore because of this. But that was mainly for us fans anyways, so it's not really a biggie.

It will be scenes of agony dealing with Bruce Wayne and as Batman dealing with this new threat.

I don't see many Two-Face scenes, because his story is pivotal, that's why we don't see alot of him now.

I think so too. Yea and I just like you am not saying that in a disrespectful way. But I think in a few months people will not be really that sensitive to seeing Heath on the big screen as his final role.

As much as I hate to make the Brandon Lee comparison, I didn't hear people *****ing when the Crow marketing came out - and it's something amazing he is remembered by.... It calmed down before the release and Heath will likely have the same thing occur.

There were no message boards ***** on back then.

Isn't the Scarecrow supposed to be in TDK too? They could use him in the marketing campaigns.

Fake, not him.

the thing is...they can't just completely hide the fact that the joker is in this film, it's too late for that. he's now the main selling point in more ways than before....whether you like it or not.

ppl still used these things called a mouth and ears.

But they weren't networked together in the millions across the globe getting information and sharing their thoughts with eachother instantly.

I say they put Batman back in the forefront of the advertising... crazy idea right?? I remember them saying during filming BB that they wanted these to be Batman's movies, and not villain centric like the old ones. So... makes sense, focus on batman and his cool new ****, and back the shots of the joker down a little bit in the new trailers.

its true. i don't think the crow would have had the sales it did if what happened to brandon hadn't happened. not that its not a great movie, i mean i love it but ppl are just like that sometimes.

there were news reports on the tv, in the papers there were telephones. its still made its way around and was talked about a lot. quite a lot.

If anything, I think people may actually WANT to see him. Once his death sets in and people accept it, I think a lot of people will defintley be interested in this performance, because it really looks to be something of legend and something that could really make him leave a mark on people forever.
