The mods have advised me to not "gay-bash" as they call it, so I'll do the opposite and suggest a love scene between The Joker and a random thug of his.

All in favor of my suggestion say Aye.

yeah . . . what did you do Socko!!?? :D

Socko isn't bringing it up. He is against no one or no kind.

How is the Batman Musical going Guard?

It's stalled at 80 pages, though the story is mostly complete. I got sidetracked writing another draft of WATCHMEN and some fanfilm stuff, but BATMAN: THE MUSICAL is on my list of things to do.

You're making a Batman musical?

Oh and do you make fanfilms?

Can't wait, I love the idea.

Which one? His fanfilm, watchmen script, or Batman musical?

Yeah, that I can see. I have to admit that I don't like musicals as a rule. I find it distractingly silly that the characters suddenly break out into song every few minutes.

On the other hand, I'm a fan of The Phantom of the Opera, which I've seen performed onstage at the Kennedy Center, twice.

So... I don't like musicals, generally, but some of them are good.

And if I know The Guard... he's not gonna half-ass it, or make it silly.

Nay.

I'm going to try to pitch it. Odds are, despite the fact that I have someone interested in financing it, it will never happen. But it will make for an interesting script and score if nothing else.

I mean no disrespect (please do not take the wrong way I do not feel like getting in a pointless flame war)...but the fact that you guys keep saying "musical" just makes the whole thing sound gay/wierd/odd. Batman musical? I'm a little unsure about that.

^ Direct your attention to this Outsiders quote
Lex Luthor: Does it bother you that Batman likes Catwoman better?
Joker: ?!
Lex Luthor: Face it sweetheart. He'll never love you. You can screw with his city all you want. He'll never take you to the prom!
:)

Here's my estimation of the strategy that should be taken......I think Hulme being more low profile than Law and Weaving would work to his advantage, especially since Joker will not be a main villain. Make Joker the main Villain for the third film so that Hulme can grow into the role of Batman's arch nemesis and be accepted by the public as being The Joker. The main mistake made in the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies was hiring high profile actors in some of the roles, with a few exceptions. I mean you didn't see The Joker. You saw Jack Nicholson as the Joker. I could see Weaving or Law as Harvey Dent/Two Face though since they are strong actors who could pull off the role with their acting experience.

i think a batman musical is a good idea!

i'm surprised someone hasn't already thought of it.

hell they did jerry springer.

when and where has anyone said that the joker will not be the main villian? small and mysterious...yes, but not small as in cameo. think bigger than the scarcrow role.

Very good point, if Hulme is casted even us die hard Bat fans who have heard about Lachy Hulme will see the Joker on the screen, not Jude Law with pale skin or Elrond, Agent Smith, and V playing yet another great role. That's why I really belive that Law and Weaving are just pawns to keep talking about who's going to get it. I mean why in the hell would WB even for a split second even consider a unknown like Hulme when you have popular choices like Law and Weaving in the mix. I don't know it's just my opinion, but something smells fishy about this whole thing!

Okay people, brace yourselves - I am about to argue for a Joker candidate not named Sir Paul Bettany.

Ready?

IMO of the three mentioned in the most recent Batman News, the logical choice would be Hugo Weaving. Think about it, he (like Mr. Bettany) is a well respected actor, however by no means a big name. He has played comic book movies before and recently and was fantastic in them. He has a very good Joker smile and IMO looks more like the Joker than either Hulme or Law. Law is too big a name IMO and I question his acting ability at times. Hulme is too low key for me to support at the time.

Yea with the three mentioned in the latest news Hugo Weaving definetly should/would be the best Joker candidate.

Batman: The Musical. heh.

I thought of writing a Superman musical once. And then I found out there already was one.
