I think so, yes. In a way, I was totally astonished by The Dark Knight because, on the one hand, it’s a huge, mainstream movie. But it also astonished me at how dark it was, as though it was a premonition of something coming at us. I went to see the film, and ran into Christian Bale, which was the only reason I saw the film: I wanted to see how Christian was doing, because I so love that man, as an actor. I ran into Christian and (director) Christopher Nolan, and said to Nolan ‘Congratulations, this is the most significant film of the whole year.’ He thought I was kind of making it up, or joking. And I said ‘No, no, no! This is a film of real substance. It doesn’t matter if it’s mainstream or not.’ And it’s wonderful that he made the film the way he did.

Nolan must've had the shivers. :hehe:

He has good taste in movies.

Fantastic, you almost never see those old school arty european directors praise maintream Hollywood movies, much less a summer blockbuster.

Herzog is my favourite director, and he's even more awesome for loving the Dark Knight.

Herzog really should start working with Bale again. A match made in heaven. Much like Cage/Herzog. Although I would call that a match made in.....a lunatic asylum. Or something like that.

Herzog and Bale did make a great team. Great movie, and one of Bale's best performances ever.

The ending still touches a brother's heart. :o

Not amazed. TDK is a masterpiece. But glad that such a director as Herzog thought so and bothered to watch the movie.

Um, i've never heard of this Hezrog fellow.....so i'm assuming this is a good thing?

Very well known and awarded German director, screenwriter etc etc. So well, it's like a good thing even when if he had liked a movie I had disliked (or vice versa) I couldn't have given any less of a crap.

I can't wait for Inception. It'll be a contender for Nolan's best movie.

Are you not looking forward to Inception? You never once posted there.

I'll tell youl, I haven't heard one single thing about that movie except that Nolan's directing. I don't know what is it about, nothing. But after watching "The Prestige" I think it's most probably going to be another truly amazing movie. Yes, I should be looking forward to Inception. I'm watching it for sure nevertheless.

^^^they're keeping the details hush hush, although i do know it is about a guy who tries to control dreams or something.

If the reviews I've been reading in the movie forum are any indication, Nolan has made another gem of a movie.

Where I live there's no indication that the movie is being released any time soon. :(
