What are your complaints? What would you do differently? *SPOILERS* - Part 1

Would you guys be against hiring a different writer and director for the sequel? WB have been strangely silent regarding the sequel.
Of course not! That's what all us guys have been saying every day. I guess no one would be against a different writer and director for a sequel. I mean MOS is a financial disaster right? I mean it is not even going to hit a billion world wide. Since WB has been strangely silent about the sequel than it is obvious it is because there won't be one. Thanks for setting the record straight. :whatever:

I loved the movie so I do hope they come back. I just wonder why hasn't WB announced anything?

The tentacles from the World Engine, yeah, they were kind of silly, but you know, that's half the fun of it, I think.

Seeing Superman battle a giant robot onscreen at long last.

It makes zero sense for the World Engine not to have some defenses given its importance, and the tentacles were a pretty cool extension of the morphing Kryptonian tech we saw earlier in the film.

Add in the potential nod to Braniac in the tech/defense mechanism, and I can't complain about it too much. It feels a little bit out of place, but it should feel a bit jarring when it shows up, especially for Superman, who isn't expecting it.

Better make your own movie. That's how u can have your perfect movie and 100% satisfaction.

Remember when Superman was this:

My list:

*Choppy at the beginning on krypton.
I would have liked a better flow along with more story and better lines vs all the action. Some action yes but most of what was in the movie could have been used for more dialog.

*I would have liked it if Clark had more to say.
Maybe a bit of voice over narration on his journey and travels. I have always liked that in the comics and thought that they would have done well in using it to their advantage to tell more of his story without sacrificing flow. Get inside his head.

*I needed to hear the name "Superman" more.
There need to be more reference to him as "Superman". When I finally heard it said, it was a very welcomed joy that came over me. It was missed and needed for me. **** And I wanted Lois to say it First**** Not some nobody!

*And last but not least, the killing of Zod.
It could have been handled better. I'm not really bothered by the act of killing Zod per say. I would have liked it to happen differently. He could have hit him into the wall again to stop Zod's heat vision easily. It just didn't come off as desperate as I think they were going for. I've watched movies where I've unabashedly wanted the bad guy to die and have even applauded when said badie got his. But I didn't feel that way for this circumstance. Supes could have stopped that in other ways. It was certainly a surprise but a little anticlimactic for me.

I still loved the movie and the most after my 3rd viewing. Henry did a fantastic job, as well as everyone else! I think the writing could have been better and that was my only fear from the beginning.

Here's wishing for a MOS 2!!

In retrospect, Lois did not need to be in it at all. I feel like they forced her whole relationship.

At the most, she could have been a reporter trying to follow his story but she didn't need to track him down OR have any romance at all. Think how much more tongue in cheek and fun that final shot of Clark in the Daily Planet could have been if Lois had spent her whole year trying to track down this guy and then he was right in front of her without knowing it?

I think for a movie that was trying to set up a series and then eventually a universe, it just didn't take it's time in the same way that the Marvel movies or the Batman movies did. Begins really took it's time to build and explain the man. The marvel films prioritised character building ahead of plot (sometimes to detriment) but over all, that's how you build something to last. I feel like MOS rushed everything and tried to fit EVERYTHING in but then changed some things just for the sake of it. Like Lois finding out about Clark being Supers. I thought that was bold at first but in retrospect, what did it add? All it did was allow Lois to be a crowbarred plot device.

Jor-El: Here lady, let me tell you some crucial plot that I COULD just tell to my son but I need to tell you to justify you even being here.

I think Lois finding out was definitely a change for the better. You can't have her be a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter, yet have her be too dense to realize that the guy she is working with is Superman. She is either smart, or she isn't.

But if she'd never actually seen his face, how would she know it was him? Also what did that actually open up in terms of plot or character development?

If we follow this, we'll have to say the same of Perry White, and who knows who else. I mean, you don't need to be a Pulitzer winner to realize in the real world.

Exactly. Assuming this really happened, Superman would have the most recognizable face in all of the world. Clark Kent wouldn't be able to fool anyone, let alone just his co-workers.

It's just one of those things that didn't need to be tampered with.

Eh, I don't know. If Clark makes himself look different enough, I could see acquaintances and coworkers not really picking up on it, especially if he's pretty much "wallpaper" to people in the office.

But Lois? I would think that the person he's sleeping with would notice.

Come on dude. If President Obama disguised himself with a pair of glasses... and maybe a hoodie and some jeans... people would still know who he is. Yea he might catch a few people off guard and people might notice him in a crowd, but every single person he comes into contact with would know he's President Obama.

Okay, fair enough. When it gets down to it, it's a silly disguise any way you look at it that would never fool anyone. But there's not really any way they could get around it. I don't know; maybe having Lois know bothers some people, but I liked how they handled it in the film.

What I think would be REALLY interesting is if Lex figured it out in MOS 2.

I want to see the scene where Braniac flat out tells Luthor that Clark Kent is Superman and Lex calls him a moron.

Because it probably won't happen until ComiCon. Secondly, there is no script yet to make a pitch on any sequel. That doesn't mean that development hasn't started, though.

I reckon there's at least a treatment by Goyer and Snyder no matter what they say.

Yeah, I really can't believe since the film has been in the can, they haven't worked or brain stormed ideas on a sequel.

I know they treated MoS like Nolan did with Batman, one film at a time, but MoS had a year in post production, their minds must have toiled with where to take this. It's not like anyone was expecting this to be a financial flop where a sequel wouldn't be in demand.

Instead of finding a World Engine I would have made it finding parts of a World Engine. Then have Jax-Ur integrate those parts into Black Zero. Black Zero could still terraform this time by itself and Supes wouldn't have to fly to the other side of the globe. Instead of fighting tentacles it would be Zod, Faora, Nam-Ek, and any other Kryptonians not manning the Black Zero.

From 2 dimensional to 3 dimensional in the span of two posts. A hero that cries, god forbid.

I'm not in favor of a 2 dimensional Superman characterization. Nor am I in favor of injecting unnecessary pathos in a misguided attempt to make him interesting.
