What are your Gripes/Concerns with the project?

We have a good mix in this forum of people who are positive and negative towards the film. So what are your gripes or concerns if any? This is the place to post them

People please stay civil. If you disagree with someone just agree to disagree. We all want a GREAT Dargon Ball film



Gripe: My ONLY problem so far is that form the casting sheets we are likely going to get an unpopular Highschool student Goku which I feel is a COMPLETELY unnecessary change to the character. I hope thats been changed or isnt in the movie for more than 15 minutes

Concern:Chatwin, I've only seen him in two movies War of the Worlds which put me to sleep and The Invisible where I thought he was decent, So I'm hoping he can truly bring Goku to life and that james Wong saw something special in him when casting (I'd very much like to know who else auditioned for the part)

Gripes - Costume, rushing the movie out, unknown asian actors playing important roles

Concerns - Itll flop, itll so bad they wont make a sequel, the fighting will be something ive seen 100x before

no teaser yet...lol

Concerns - the colorful costumes mean they MIGHT take the FF or DoA route and the movie might suffer a bit because of it... and piccolo not being...piccolo... though im certain they'll stay true to him after seeing recent pics

Chatwin - to me, he's totally wrong for the role
Jamie Chung - practically no acting experience and not that pretty imo
James Wong - directed 2 okay horror flicks, a subpar martial arts flick, and was the writer for the crappy horror flick Black Christmas
Goku being in high school
No Krillin - instead we have Teto, a small role, who's Goku's best buddy in high school
Movie taking place in a semi-realistic world - DBZ was pretty much pure fantasy

Concerns
Marsters - kinda short, kinda old, and has no experience with film acting
Visual Style - we've seen what looks like Goku's costume and it looks like a cosplayer made it, Goku doesn't have his trademark long, spikey hair, and the world will be set in a semi-realistic Earth so i don't expect to see many fantastical elements
Oozaru mode - we know Goku doesn't have a tail and that the movie takes place in a semi-realistic world, so i don't know if they'll incorporate Goku being based on the Chinese monkey king.
Movie being rushed - this movie has less than 8 months left and they just started filming. a lot can be done in 8 months but this movie is in the hands of a director that has yet to prove himself.

they were able to make the gigantic bridge sequence... because that was the first thing they planned early on...

The highschool thing. The movie's REALLY MADE in the editing room, so I'm hoping that throughout the process they drop this aspect. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Movies which were thought to be one way during production came out a completely or mostly different way by release, so nothing's written in stone yet. But hey, i can live with goku in highschool *he does become more accustomed to city life after the first season* if:

he eats like a horse
he's a goofball
chatwin becomes a convincing martial artist, no pussyfoot hollywood editing

Other than that, nah, nothing has really stood out as too bad. This could suck, could rock, who knows.
