What can DC/WB do now to move forward? Is there hope?

So, does this AT&T deal affect WB or DC movies somehow? im not familiar with the subject.

Not anytime soon, by the time that Jeff (Time Warner's CEO) steps down WW will already be out and maybe JL. They want to keep their executive team too but that all depends on the new CEO of Time Warner. It takes a year to finalize these types of deals

It's a good question, tough one too. Comcast had to through the ringer to get that deal approved, and in hindsight it hasn't been a popular decision.

So far the buzz on this deal has been negative, from both sides of the isle. I could see a narrative taking shape that kills this deal, because it's true that it's way too much power and content under one roof.

Comcast did go through the ringer, but the deal still went through. AT&T/T-Mobile on the other hand, did not.

But in terms of sports organizations, major sports leagues are essentially given special exemptions by the government to exist as monopolies.

Sure, there is hope. There's always reboots on the horizon and one day...one of said reboots will actually be good.

I personally really liked Hoechlyn's superman but I don't want to see a CW series about superman because I just don't think they're good enough to be honest. The silly romantic melodramas that seem to go nowhere and the overtly long 20+ episode seasons only serve to prolong these unnecessary story elements IMO.

I dunno, they have dropped the forced Kara/James romance this season because even the producers saw it wasn't going anywhere.
And Arrow has killed Ollicity for now. And with the Hawk people gone, it's gone on Legends of Tomorrow too.
So really the only one with the major romantic subplot is Flash.
So 1 out of 4 tells me the producers are no longer enamored with romantic subplots for all their main characters.

The bigger problem with making a Superman show is. . . there's enough material in the Superman and DC mythoi to do a Superman show. There's enough to do a Supergirl show. There is not, IMO, enough material to do both at once, at least not without setting Superman in space.

Also we've had Lois and Clark and Smallville deal with the Clark and Lois relationship. How many more different ways can you write about it?

Not to mention three separate movie versions.

Ah yes Smallville, where the writers were so up Lana's butt they made Lois the perpetual rebound.

Flash just lost 2 directors in a row as Famuyiwa departs over creative differences. HR says Famuyiwa wanted a Flash with more "edge" and WB felt apprehensive about it.

HR says Flash may not hit its deadline

I assume he means Hollywood Reporter.

But guys, they're a filmmakers studio

I am officially done with this franchise. Maybe they'll get their **** together and reboot in a few years.

Hey, the question is will they be able to get a new director in time to keep filming on schedule and the release date of 2018?

Also I mean, why didn't they have the vision and take for The Flash locked down first? I mean if they weren't confident about Famuyiwa's take, then why did they hire him in the first place?

I asked in the Flash thread about production start date, someone said January and someone else said March. Comparably in the Ant-Man situation Edgar Wright's departure was announced at the end of May. And Ant-Man had an August start date for production. So its not impossible that they could find someone in time.

Someone else said Ezra does have another commitment in July

It's possible Suicide Squad influence things.

This is WB's biggest stumbling block with DC, imho. The fact that they skewer every movie halfway through production based on reception of a previous film really makes it impossible for them to do anything great. Their only shot is stuff they won't muck with. Batman has a great shot. Maybe Wonder Woman, but who knows at this point, it's so quiet over there.

Everyone who hates DCEU blames the writers or directors but I am really REALLY starting to think it is just WB who is the problem not the creative teams.

I think they're all to blame. Regardless of studio meddling, I still doubt Suicide Squad would have turned out to be good had WB not interfered. I may very well have been BETTER than what we got, but I still think that movie had a sh**-ton of problems from the get-go.
