Magneto is in Fox hands. If any properties are in the outsourced studios like Sony & Fox then by all means produced the films as many as they like.

If it's under Marvel directly (Iron Man, Thor) then they have to be more selective.

True, Marvel is already very busy for the next 5 or more years.
I'd like to have as many comic movies as possible, but I rather not put up with trash like Ghost Rider, the FF series, and to a lesser extent X3.

I want every comic movie treated with as much respect and talent as Nolan's BB, and how it seems Marvel is dealing with its movies.

That said I'm pretty curious about a Namor movie.

IMO, Namor like the Silver Surfer would work best if introduced to the general public in an FF movie. Just don't let FOX f**k it up again.

I don't see how Fox is getting the rights to a character like Namor by 2010/2011 though... so I don't think Namor will be in FF3. I mean why would Universal sell it to another studio? I mean there are other villains in the FF gallery... but yeah Namor works best in FF3... even if Namor goes back to Marvel I doubt even they would consider giving him a stand alone film in the next four years or so considering they are set with their other projects... maybe he could have a cameo in Avengers but I doubt it considering they'll all ready have have enough characters to explore in that one... all way down the line I get that... but if Universal doesn't get this done in another three/four years... we might not be seeing Namor on the big screen for a very long time.

Conceptually thats a great idea. But its been said, its FOX, I think if Marvel is successful with the their in-house pictures maybe Fox will thinkthat their control would be a bigger money maker than anything else. Pipedream, but none the less.

How do these things work anyways, can FOX control the character so long as they want?
These things don't expire and revert to the original owner?

After Wolverine is done, I want them to tackle Deadpool next. And after that they can do whatever they want, just give me Deadpool and I'm happy.

100% agreed.

contract prolly stipulates how long

But I'm wondering if there are ways that they could indefinitely prolong their ownership of character properties.

I know something like this is why there is that never released Fantastic Four movie.

And it worries me to think that all these great characters might never find their way back home.

If the contract stipulates a way to do so then yes. Plus when the contract is up they might have the option to renew the contract. This is all an assumption based on one semester of contract law.

Thanks... Hope Marvel wasn't stupid with their contracts long ago... I'd hate for FOX to have an endless monopoly on all the characters they do.

Code: Blue the movie
Lt. Stone- Denzel Washington

Captain Shelley Conklin
Daniel "Fireworks" Fielstein
Samuel "Mother" Majowski
Chief O'Grady
Margarita "Rigger" Ruiz
Aaron Christopher Curzon
Andrew "Jock" Jackson

Use various B-list villains, like the people from the Hood's army of crooks--

FOX can't help themselves. :cwink:

Fox changes stuff so much sometimes I wonder why they even do adaptations and not make their own original stories.

Of course, I know they want the use of the "brand name" heroes" but **** up enough and no one is gonna trust you to continue to make them anyway.

I just can't wait for the day, if it ever happens, that Marvel owns the film rights to all their characters. I'm sure Sony will never let go of Spidey and Fox will never let go of X-Men but we can only hope.

The rights belong to Marvel. The studios are only renting them. There has to be some kind of way that would release them. They got F4 back from Corman through those means. He only made the movie so he can hold on to the rights a little longer. I would be surprised if this wasnt the same case with the studios.

If Iron Man and TIH turned out to be successful, then I think Marvel will get more of their other characters back so they can make the movies themselves. I really hope Marvel will get all the characters from FOX back, because aside from a couple of good ones (X-Men 1 & 2), they made several bad ones (Daredevil, Electra, X3, FF1), and mediocre one (FF2).

As for OP, I think Marvel should make Capt. America next.

true but fox hasn't gotten that message yet unfortunately

I know they're out on lease or whatever but from my understanding, as long as studios continue to produce films in a series within a window of time, they will maintain those leased rights.

I just hope Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Antman and Capt. America truly lead to an Avengers film put out by Marvel without bigger studios putting their hands into it.

I know that Avi Arad said that they are waiting for Daredevil's rights to fall back to to Marvel so they can reboot the series (ala Hulk). :daredevil

That thought is enough to make me sick.
So your saying that so long as a studio makes a sequel, a reboot, or a remake within a timeframe... That this automatically extends their rights to the character and therefore they can indefinitely hold onto them? :csad:

That be like if I rented a movie that I had to bring back in three days, but if I rewatched it on the third day, I'd get an extra two... And so on and so forth until eternity!

I think that is pretty much guaranteed at this point, we will get those movies, and they will brilliantly lead to an Avengers movie that will trump anything we've ever seen up to that point!

Really, when did you hear that?
Hopefully this will happen, I liked the director's cut of DD, but we could have better yet.
Let's hope Arad mentioning this didn't have FOX scrambling to push out some direct to dvd piece of trash in order to hold on to it :wow: !

I'm not sure if there is a set ending date, but I do know that with a lot of their original deals that if Fox (or whomever) doesn't out out an X-Men related flick within a set time, the rights go back to Marvel. I don't think this is for eternity however. Let's hope it's not. :csad:

I read it a while back, I honestly don't remember where. I don't know if that's still the plan but it would seem so at this point.
