Now that the movie seems to be more or less green lighted, what is the most likely reason for it to fail. (If it does.)

(I myself am a firm believer in the "3rd movie curse")

Everything could go wrong.

But Robin would be doom.

Fortunately Nolan and Bale seem to be against using Robin.

i'd have to say it being a bad film.

There are far more 2nd movies, and 1st movies that fail than 3rd ones.

That's because there are far more 2nd movies, and 1st movies that are made than 3rd ones. To accurately compare, look at the percentage of failures, not the numerical figure.

What could go wrong? Anything.

What is likely to happen? Its bigger than BB but not as big as TDK.

If we look at percentage of failures, there are still more 1st movies that fail than 3rd ones.

I'd say, based on the list, the next villain trying to top Heath is the biggest mistake that can be made. The focus really needs to shift to Bruce. The end of Begins shifted the focus squarely on the Joker, where the end of The Dark Knight puts it squarely on Bruce. Christopher Nolan, and whoever helps write the movie, has a wonderful opportunity to make Bruce every bit as compelling to watch as Joker and Harvey Dent were in The Dark Knight. I would love to see Bale garner some real critical acclaim for the third film.

Agreed. This next film needs to be an all around BATMAN movie.

Bale won't fix his Batman voice.:down

His Bat-Voice was a bit better in TDK than it was in BB, sometimes when watching BB Batman sounded like an italian with Laryngitis, his TDK voice was more clearly defined.

I honestly whish batman's mask didnt have that open part around the mouth, it would be better if that was covered up and had one of those voice changer things under it, like the Scarecrow did.

Sorry, I just don't see this happening. From my several years as a Batman fan, it's his villains that have always defined him and his world. Without them, Bruce himself wouldn't be half as interesting. The development of Bruce works best in conjunction with the arc of the antagonist.

Plus there's that golden rule that the film is only as good as its villain.

My point was more that the writing team, the actor portraying the villain, and WB shouldn't shoot to specifically top Ledger. Going in with that intention is something which is sure to fail. Every critic and viewer is going to be making the comparison between the performance of the new villain and Ledger's Joker. The best way to sidestep this is by giving Bale the best possible material as Bruce to carry the film. Of course that doesn't mean there shouldn't be significant care and focus paid to the villain, I just think the third film should have the spotlight on Bruce.

My fears:

1.) In an attempt to top Ledger, too many villains are going to be written into the movie, causing the plot to be an absolute mess.

2.) There will be no chemistry in the Batman/Catwoman and Bruce/Selina relationships. This is probably my greatest fear at the moment.

3.) The movie won't be as well-written as TDK. It'll either be really boring or lacking in action, making it a chore to watch.

I can't make threads but I will express my feelings for it in here. I think Batman's voice could ruin who he is. Them trying to bring back joker. Maybe the new suit and possible the new bat-mobile, many other things but will be back if I think of anything.

Feh, there's nothing wrong with the voice, and to worry that something as trivial could ruin the movie is a bit silly.

Who said anything about ruining the movie? The question is what could go wrong? Not what will continue the 3rd movie in a franchise curse.

It works for Rorschach, not Batman.
You're only saying that because you've already seen the voice associated with Rorschach. They're all derived from the same voice of an "anti-hero", so they're really all interchangeable.

They could find a female lead worse than Dawes.

No, Im saying it because it fits Rorschach better than Batman. Simple as that.

Batman should just have a deep voice, not a husky growl.
And if you notice in the Watchmen comic, Rorschachs speech bubbles are a little ''rough'' around the edges, indicating that he has a raspy voice like that. Thats why I think it works for him better than Batman. I couldnt picture Rorschach with a deep voice like how I picture Batman. It just doesnt fit. The raspy voice makes him sound more ''sinister'' if you can put it that way.
