The Dark Knight Rises What do you not like about the movie?

When Bruce was climbing out the pit, I kept thinking the prisoners were saying "fish, fish, pasta, pasta.." although I know they're not saying that. It just, kind of sounds like they are.

The friggin Bat voice....still! It ruined the whole last bit with Gordon for me and I could barely tell what he was shouting at Bane in City Hall.... ugh Bale was golden till he stuck the suit on and opened his mouth!

But his mouth is ALWAYS open with the suit on

I think alot of the movie seemed a little rushed. I wish Nolan had let scenes flesh themselves out rather than cut it down to appease the studio with a shorter running time.

There were many examples of this but one that stands out in my head is the scene where Bruce visits Gordan at the hospital. We see him put on the mask, we see him jump out of the window, and the very next thing you see is they're sitting there talking.

I mean Gordan has just gotten shot. For real this time. Not like in TDK when they faked it (bullet proof vest i think), but for real this time. Gordan has been like a father to him, and yet it just cuts to them talking. I wanted Bruce to walk in slowly and see Gordan on the bed suffering. Cue sad melodic Zimmer music as Bruce walks up to him and wakes him up. Then some dialogue like:

Gordan: "Who... who are you?"
Bruce: "Just some nut."
Gordan: "The Batman"
Bruce: "Yes"
Gordan: *breathes heavily* "We were in this together, the you were gone..."
Then the scene continues as it appeared.

To have just cut to them talking. I dont know. It just didn't seem right. Like I said there were other scenes too that were just cut too much in my opinion.

 

[Green Ghoul]

- Bane's voice sounded odd, almost silly, in the opening. Thankfully, it was fine throughout the rest of the film.

- Foley's Death. Poor editing made it have less of an impact, literally.

- "John Blake" should have been "Dick Grayson". It's as though Nolan felt the general audience was too stupid to connect the dots between "Dick Grayson" and "Robin". They even had to use "Robin" as a birthname just to explain where they were going with the character.

- Bruce still looked a bit shaggy even after he cleaned up. Sorry, but I didn't really dig the Bruce Wayne look this time around.

All minor gripes. I really liked this movie.

Yeah Foley's death! That was another one. One second he's like a main side character of the movie. The next he's just lying on the ground staring into oblivion.

I can't tell you how much I hate when they do that in movie. Show someone dying dammit!!!! I don't care if it's slow and painful. If you just cut to people dead already it looks comical. He should have been crawling around in pain, and someone like Gordan or Blake or something should have came up to him and tried to rescue him or something. No... he's just dead. COME ON.

Sorry. Minor gripe tho. Still loved the movie.

I'm probably in the minority but I didn't like the amount of flashbacks to scenes we had already seen in Batman Begins and TDK. I didn't really feel like a lot of those were necessary. It came off kind of cheesy like I was watching a clips show or something. I also didn't really buy Bruce and Talia hooking up. I didn't get any sense of chemistry between the two of them the same way I did with Batman and Catwoman. Overall though, really small quibbles that I'm sure I will be able to overlook after a few more viewings. Still far more satisfying of an experience than the first time I saw BB and about equal with the first time I saw TDK.

Don't even get me started on the changes made to the prologue. Was Bane really THAT hard to understand, that they had to have his lines redubbed in such a bizarre way that was mostly inconsistent with the rest of the movie? Like some other posters have said, Hardy sounded like some weird, flamboyant villain from a bad cartoon in his first scene, but totally badass in everything else. And the sound wasn't even synced well to the scene, it was like he was talking into an invisible microphone! Ugh...

Nolan and co. should definitely consider putting the original version of the prologue on the home media release.

Yeah I knew too, as soon as he said I was picturing the scene in my head but I understand why it was showed. Not everyone who will see TDKR has seen Batman Begins so it was put in ther for them. Imagine you haven't seen Begins and you hear that line. You know its powerful and important but you have no idea what its referring to. But you're right. For us BATFANS the flashback wasn't necessary. Yet it wasn't for us tho.

Dont you think jumping for the ledge with a rope with a recently fixed bulging disc and then falling not once, but twice might have permanently messed up Bruces back?
Also the prisoners at Bruces prison werent even close to mouthing what they should have been. It was so bad that I was like huh? They're not even saying it...

Dont get me wrong. Its still a good film. I give it a 6.5 out of 10. It really could have been 2 movies and it might have been better.

The Batman voice is actually Batman's voice. When Bruce is Batman that's his voice. Its not just done to disguise his voice. Bruce becomes "a terrible thought, a wraith" when he's Batman. As a result he changes his voice. That's why he uses it regardless.

Also I felt the hallucination was really Bruce just figuring things out on his own. He had been told about the mercernary, he had been told about Bane's story, he had been told about the child escaping, and he remembered Raz's words to him "Once I had a wife". So he was just peicing it together in his head. I was visualized as a hallucination but really its all just in his head.

Don't really get what you mean about Wayne Manor. When exactly are you referring to? I'm pretty sure Bane knew where Bruce lived but he had to take his time in order to let Miranda get control of Wayne enterprises and also trick them (Wayne board) into giving him control of the weapon.

Also I don't really see why you have a problem with the chant. It's in a different language so you're not supposed to know what they're saying. And for the record its "Deshi Deshi! Basara Basara!". And they very clearly say what it mean in English

Don't get me wrong the film wasn't perfect but your gripes can be explained easily. Your'e welcome.

Blake was looking for another entrance into the sewer so naturally he went to the drainage area. He just happened to find Gordon there by chance. He was trying to go in to save Gordon but didn't need to cuz Gordon had saved himself.

didn't like talia's inclusion.

fight scenes, especially batman v. bane round 2 was just poorly done.

also, how weak is the damn batplane? it was pathetic...those machine guns or whatever did nothing.

Man that sucks for Bane. Poor guy. He even dies for her in the end. THat's just not right man. Although I think I'd be sprung for Talia too.

I thought that Talia was kind of superfluous. I'm not sure what she added to the story that Bane couldn't have covered (except for the unnecessary love scene unless you're into that kind of thing).

After she revealed herself, I hated how it seemed to downgrade Bane to a lovesick henchman.

And was there a second Batplane? There is no way the one Batman flew survived a nuclear explosion. And how about the technicians working on the Batplane at the end. Dont they think hey, this is the same type of Batplane that Batman was using during the Seige of Gotham? And all these other toys here at Wayne Enterprises look alot like some of Batmans stuff? Hey... Was Bruce Wayne Batman? So then everyone must have known that Bruce was Batman?

1. The whole "it's not who you are underneath; it's what you do that defines you" line being ignored in regards to Selina Kyle. She steals Bruce's jewels/prints, his car, betrays him to Bane, and thinks only about saving her ass when the city is about to be nuked yet Batman says there's more to her?!

4. How Bane defeated Batman rather easily. I was hoping it would be done like Knightfall, but no.
5. Ostentatious Gotham chaos. After a while I didn't really care anymore about it. It was all too much.
6. The Talia revelation. A twist for fans, but the whole backstory was vague so I really didn't care when it was revealed.
7. Bruce was limping with a cane, but then all of a sudden can become Batman again?
8. Too much took place in daytime.
9. How'd Bane learn who Batman was?
10. How'd Bruce fully recover from a broken back in that prison?

Overall I didn't like the film.
