The Dark Knight Rises What do you not like about the movie?

Oh, another convenience issue I had.

The entire, make Bruce Wayne broke to force him to sign up with Talia's investment.
If Bruce sits out the stock exchange farce, does Bane/Talia have a leg to stand on?

The Way Talia died, it looked fake/overdone/comical.

Two things that I noticed (not sure if they were mentioned already or not):

1. The first was during the Wallstreet part that was supposed to span the 8-10 minutes it was supposed to take to download all that data. When they left the stock exchange it was daytime, and then in 5 minutes when Batman arrives is pitch black outside.

2. When the cops and the thugs were charging at each other there is a cop near the front wearing a reflective vest. When they show the overhead shot he totally misses the punch he was going for on that thug.

So Bane's plan was to give the city false hope, torture Bruce by making him watch in hell, and in the end destroy Gotham?

Another question. Were all the prisoners in the pit supposed to be good people standing in the way of Bane and Talia? And what was the point of showing that scar on the back of Miranda/Talia?

Nitpicks:

I thought the foreshadowing was pretty obvious and not-so-subtle at all throughout the film. For example, when Alfred told his story to Bruce at the beginning of the movie, my brain immediately assumed that the movie was going to end that way. I mean, I don't dislike the ending, but yeah ... I saw some things coming a mile away because of the obvious foreshadowing. This is just a minor nitpick that doesn't hinder my enjoyment for the movie, to be honest.

Another nitpick would be Bane's voice. It wasn't downright terrible, but it did grate on my nerves a little bit when he made long speeches, not gonna lie. I'm sure it'll probably not bother me as much upon repeated viewings.

The biggest issue I have with the movie:

I thought the entire character of Miranda Tate/Talia was completely pointless ... And she was an extremely weak character. Being familiar with the comics, I just got impatient with Miranda. I kept thinking, "Oh, just get ON with it, Talia." I also thought Miranda's relationship with Bruce was completely contrived and random.

The thing that bothered me about Talia the most was how it tainted the villainy of Bane. This is by far my biggest issue of the movie. We see the badass Bane being hyped up for most of the movie, and he breaks Batman in a way that no other character has in this trilogy, and it's all because of ... Ra's al Ghul's daughter who hated her father, but wanted to avenge him anyway? That's so weak. Bane was downgraded to lackey status by the end of the movie, which is really lame. I honestly would have been completely ok with Bane being the son or protégé of Ra's who became too extreme for the League of Shadows and wanted to take over Gotham in the way that he thought it should have been taken over. Some comic fans may have disapproved of that, but it's honestly a change I would have been ok with for the sake of storytelling and character.

Excellent points. Agreed on all of those, especially about the Talia stuff.

I think removing her altogether would have improved the movie. I almost think she was just put in because Nolan wanted to work with Cottiard again.

Where are the mobs? Falcone, Maroni, etc... Where are the dirty cops, the corrupt officials? UGHH

By the final 40 minutes of TDK I thought the mob was pretty much crippled. Between Joker and Dent they were either locked up or dead.

Joker: "Tell your men they work for me now. This is MY city".

Any remnants of the mob that they missed would most likely have been swept up by the Dent Act.

Here are just some quotes that I think this movie kind of stepped all over:

"The world is too small for a man like Bruce Wayne to disappear"/ yet this doesn't apply in TDKR because of this magic ID eraser

"What's the difference between me and you?" - "I'm not wearing hockey pads"/ but now apparently "ANYONE" can be Batman...it's JUST a symbol

"We'll hunt him, because he can take it."/ until he becomes a recluse for 8 years, guess he CAN'T take it

"Endure, Master Wayne...take it."/ Alfred had his back in 2005 and 2008, but not so much in 2012 (also...apparently he can't take it - again)

"We're destined to do this, forever..."/ apparently that means TDKR won't even MENTION Joker
--dk7

Excellent points

Why did Bruce's picture of Rachel end up being a promotional still of her in the restaraunt with Harvey Dent? It was literally this picture:
Rachel_Dawes_%28Maggie_Gyllenhaal%29.jpg

LOL when Tate picked up that photo my friend leaned in and said to me "I can tell you exactly which scene from TDK that was taken from".

There was a different photo of Rachel on the dresser where Bruce's safe was which I'm sure wasn't from TDK.

The Way Talia died, it looked fake/overdone/comical.

Some of the worst acting I've ever seen.

EW.com posted a few questions about the film and after reading it, it kinda made me wonder and bugged me.

1) How does Bruce get from a remote location that looks to be in maybe India? to Gotham, without any money, communication, or his Bat tech to help him and how does he get there so quickly and into Gotham without being noticed.

2) Blake can figure out Batman by seeing him smile once upon a time when he was a child?

3) With only seconds counting down while still in "The Bat", how does he manage to escape from the Nuclear bomb and its five mile radias without being harmed?

4) How did Bane get a big screen TV into the prison and get cable for it?

There was some pretty lousy fighting going on in the background there.

2) See above.
3) Again, the movie thing.
4) Yes, it is just a movie.

I think there were far bigger contrivances than the ones you mentioned. Far more pressing irregularities to do with story and characterization and so on. I don't understand what people expect. Does everything need to be explained/justified? Movies can only do so much, and most are filled with slight contrivances. Even Shakespeare is.

Wait, you must be trolling....

So it's a movie is an explanation for these pondering moments in a Batman film, whereas stupid **** like "5 dead, 2 cops" was debated since 2008.

Yeah there were pondering moments, but i hardly think debating how Bane rigged Bruce up to Sky News in a remote prison is really worthy of even thinking about. Nor is how he got back to America(we weren't privy to the time-span of that, but he is an elite trained stealth ninja....he finds a way) It's like....who cares man? Yes, Blake recognising Bruce as Batman was really far-fetched, but it served and moved the story along.

Even great movies(which TDKR was not) have contrivances. They are necessary to move a film along.

With all the crazy things that bane pulled off in this film, the one thing people are complining about is how he rigged a TV in a prison with cable/satialte tv.:lmao:

Pretty sure it was only 1 channel... I don't think they were watching any ESPN there.

More Blackgate prisoners hunting down the few members of the GPD not trapped underground would've been a nice addition. Witch hunts that leave the Gothamites paralyzed in fear.

The more i think about it, the less i like the fact that Alfred didn't show up until the end after he left. While Bruce was in prison they should have at least showed Alfred coming back to the abandoned mansion, to find Bruce gone. I always saw Alfred leaving as a bluff to wake Bruce up and that he would have came back, eventually...

Remember how Bruce and Lucius were talking about putting autopilot on The Bat? I think they finally installed it :oldrazz: and was able to survive. I think it makes sense. I would assume he ejected himself out of the vehicle before the bomb went off.

yea, thats cool and all... but he jumped out with 5 seconds left...and magically teleports 6 miles away to be out of the blast radius.

Manipulative editing. For all we know Batman jumped out when he blasted through the building.

I don't think the shots that showed Batmans face inside the Bat were happening in real time.

Yea, I know. I was being a smart ass.

That is just dumb editing though... I'd of been fine with it showing him ejecting, and Bruce/the audience are left hoping he was clear of the radius. then the ending as is...

If the entire world is like, uh... they made it look like he jumped out with 5 seconds left, and survive a nuke with a 6 mile radius... its just a dumb choice by Nolan.

- not much Alfred

- still wish Catwoman had a cowl and permanent ears on it

- Bane's inconsistent and occasionally unintelligible voice

- plot holes, like Bruce being penniless, escaping from a prison across the world, then just popping back up in Gotham with no explanation

- Daggett was annoying, unnecessary, and not that good of an actor

- Foley was superfluous and a cliched character and took material away from Gordon

- the midsection is kind of sluggish

- Bruce and Miranda's love scene came smack out of nowhere

- Bane and Talia both had lame endings

Another question. Were all the prisoners in the pit supposed to be good people standing in the way of Bane and Talia? And what was the point of showing that scar on the back of Miranda/Talia?

Probably good people for the most part, it's why Bruce threw the rope down once he got to the top, so they could all climb out.

I've seen the movie twice, and still don't see the significance of Talia's scar.

My only guess is that it was an indication for the audience that she was more than she seemed.

At that point she was just an attractive, eco-friendly board member. Seeing her with a scar suggested that there was more to her than that.

It was a bit odd that nothing specific came out of it, though.
